Chapters 23. Heart thief

Lucius frowned when he heard Brad's voice over there.

"When I called his assistant as you were touring the plantation land this morning, his Assistant agreed to a meeting at the hotel we had agreed to, Sir. But this afternoon he called me, apologizing for not being able to make the appointment as agreed." Brad explained at length.

" What's the reason?" ask Lucius. He's hoping to see Mr. Rico tonight. Promise has been made. Brad and Santoz had rented a room at the hotel where a dinner was to be held in a meeting with Mr. Rico. Lucius could get ready from the hotel, no need to leave home. Will invite questions if he wears his formal suit from their plantation house.

"They said something unexpected happened, sir. Mr. Rico had to go out on his own to take care of it. So he sent an apology for having to cancel the meeting plan."

Lucius took a deep breath at Brad's words.

"What can I do. I would love to meet that man ... Yes already. Just send me a message, ask me when Mr. Rico has time."

"Good, Sir. I'll ask you soon." replied Brad.

Lucius turned off his phone. There's nothing he can do right now. Meeting with Rico is off. Lucius looked out the window, there was a good thing, so he could focus on Ally. Something is bothering the girl and Lucius will make her open her mouth tonight. He will not just sit still and bear the curiosity of the behavior of Ally who put distance with him.

Rico looked at his assistant and nodded his head at the man before getting into the car.

"You've already taken care of the apology for the cancellation of the meeting with Sanchez's family representative, haven't you?" rico asked before his assistant closed the car door.

"Already, Sir. I've contacted Mr Sanchez's assistant and sent him an apology."

Rico raised his eyebrows, he turned his head full at his assistant with a slight surprise.

"Mr Sanchez? He came here himself?" ask Rico.

"Yes, Sir. Exactly the son of Mr. Eloy. Lucius Sanchez." - Lucius Sanchez."

"G ... I thought it was just their employees they sent over the land. I can't believe Mr. Eloy's own son is coming."

"Yes Sir. They also sent a message, asking if Mr. Rico might have time next time to meet again."

"Yes ... Sure oes. I also want to meet. My father was friends with his father, before he left his land and returned to his country to expand his business. We'll set it up later. Ask when Mr. Sanchez will be in this place. So we can visit."

The atmosphere of the night tomb on the table was running normally as usual. Lucius and Pabio engage in a conversation about the plantation lands, Esther is busy serving Alan a meal, the two are getting closer together, and Ally is just smiling looking at her sister who looks so happy lately.

Ally only made a sound if anyone asked her. The rest he shut his mouth. It made Lucius very anxious and quickly wanted to end the dinner, so that he could talk to the girl.

After finishing washing the cutlery, Ally and Esther go to the living room, joining Alan who is watching the cartoon. When she saw the clock on the wall showing her time to sleep, Ally took her sister up to her room. But Alan refused, he still wanted to keep watching.

"Listen to your brother's words, Alan. Go sleep. Tomorrow you can go back to watching TV." the reprimand from Lucius who came then made Alan pursed his lips.

"Awhile?" bargained for.

Lucius crossed his arms and shook his head.

"No," he said firmly.

Alan seemed to take a deep breath, making Esther and Ally smile.

"All right," said Alan. The boy finally complied.

"Come, I'll take you to the room."

Lucius reached out his hand which was immediately welcomed by Alan.

After three steps, the boy stopped, "Wait!" yells.

Alan turned around and returned to Esther. He kissed Esther's cheek.

"Good night, Auntie" she said sweetly.

"Good night, honey," Esther stroked Alan's cheek with a smile.

"Night, Ally .." he said again.

"Night, Alan. Go to sleep." said Ally.

Alan returned to Lucius and held the man's hand. The two went up to the second floor to Alan's room.

"What would you do if Lucius had time to go home with Ally?" the sudden question from Esther made Ally turn her head and look at the old woman.

"I ... Of course I'll stay here, Esther."

"And run the risk of you meeting Mr Rico?" ask Ester. Ally told Esther about Mr. Rico. After dinner and Lucius informs him that the estate is adjacent to Costra Land, Esther hunts him with questions. So Ally finally told me everything.

"I'm so glad you're here, honey. But if you're being sought by Mr. Rico, then it's not safe for you to be here. Mr. Rico is notoriously kind and generous. But he can also behave horribly. The girls are crazy and afraid of him. Pabio said the man would use any means if he wanted something. Your father gave you up for her. He waited for you until you were a decent age. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until Carloz tells him he's looking for you."

Ally shuddered at Esther's words.

"What should I do?" ask Ally.

"Right ... Why don't you just meet Mr Rico? He is famous for having many lovers. But as far as I know, he's not married. Maybe he's waiting for you, son." said Esther.

Ally suddenly laughed. His fear melted when he heard Esther's words.

"Why are you laughing?" ask the old woman.

"Estance ... I am just the son of a wine picker. Day laborers on Mr. Costra's plantation. I am not from among them. A village girl who has nothing ... Carloz already told me, I'll be handed over to be his woman, I know that means a mistress ... I will resist it as long as I still breathe!" Ally's.

"If you are made a mistress. Then what if your status is actually going to be made into a wife?" ask Esther seriously. But Ally again tickled amused.

"That's impossible .. but even if it's true. I'm not interested ..." said Ally sure.

"Why, Son?" Esther realized that Lucius was standing not far from their seat. But the old woman was silent.

"My heart is no longer mine ... If Mr. Rico wants it, he's too late." Ally smiled, those pale blue eyes became mellow.

Esther patted his arm, then kissed the girl's cheek, "I'll rest. You too, my dear. Rest." he said.

Ally nodded, looking back at the television after Esther's departure. Only lasting a few seconds, he took the remote and turned off the TV.

Ally stood up and stepped towards the front porch. He came out to welcome the night wind that blew the vines that adorned the top around the veranda.

Ally rested her hands on the porch. Gazing at the sky in the distance, Esther's question reverberated in her head.

What would you do if Lucius had time to go home, Ally?

Without Ally noticing, Lucius who had already descended from the second floor and approached Esther and Ally who were chatting, overheard their conversation.

Lucius thanked the heart, Esther who realized her presence did not tell Ally. Lucius wanted to know the girl's feelings. And now that he had become very curious, his heart was pounding with expectation.

I need to know who stole your heart .. until you say it's not yours anymore ...

Slowly and silently, Lucius followed Ally's steps towards the front porch. He stopped in the middle of the door that Ally left open. A dim light adorned the veranda, the girl was seen propping her body by holding on to the porch fence and looking up at the night sky. Not even aware of his presence there.
