Chaptre 35. Sky Mansion

Mike frowned at Regina's request.

"I didn't ask you to take me. I can ask Fidel to accompany me." Reggie squeezed both his hands. He really wanted Mike to be with him. But the frown on the man's forehead made him not want to hope.

"What are you going there for? The mansion had indeed been cleared and several servants and guards had already been placed back there .. but ...."

"There's something I want to take. I hope it's still there ...."

"You're really sure you want to visit the mansion?" Mike reaffirms Reggie's desire to visit the Sky family mansion. That place must have left a sad memory of the massacre of the Sky family by Jack. Amy's father was killed in the mansion.

Reggie nodded.

"I delayed going there all this time because it was still imagined the massacre that happened there. But there's something I want to look for. That thing is very important to me."

Mike was silent. Makes Reggie more nervous.

"I have to get there" Reggie said.

"You know that the mansion was half burnt down at the time of the incident, although now it would not seem different. Because Derek has renovated the mansion. The thing you're looking for may not be there."

"I know, but I still want to check it out first." Reggie insists, making Mike relented and decides to drive the girl to the Sky family mansion. It was home to Amy and Reggie before Jack destroyed it and killed Amy's father.

"alright. You can go."

Mike's words made Reggie smile.

"Thank you. I'll ask Fidel to come with me now."

Reggie's just gonna turn around when Mike stops him.

"Who said Fidel would accompany you? We're going there. You wait a minute so I can call Eve to take care of some things about work."

Mike picks up his phone and contacts Eve, who immediately picks up the call within seconds.

Reggie smiled with relief, Mike who would deliver and accompany him. Frankly returning to the mansion made Reggie rather uncomfortable. The memories of the massacre easily returned when he remembered the Sky Mansion.

"Don't be fussy, Eve. I said permission for a moment because Reggie needs to go somewhere."

Mike heard Eve chuckle.

"Say you're interested in that stray cat. Didn't they? He's not clawing at you anymore, is he?" Eve sounded mocked Mike across there. Mike nodded in his heart. Derek must have told that woman about the cheek that Reggie had clawed.

"Derek too big a mouth!" mike was upset.

Eve sounded again.

"There's no secret between me and Derek, Mike. Besides, it's only natural that you're interested, she's beautiful and I think it's a little hard to conquer. Am I right?"

Eve's crisp laughter rang out again, making Mike able to imagine her red hair swaying from laughing so loudly.

"You know Eve .. same as you, there's no secret between me and Derek. I don't know why you went abroad for months. You never want to go more than two weeks." Mike chuckles. He lured the woman, wanting to avenge her taunting.

"What! Derek really ... he said he'd lock his mouth! " Eve yelled, so Mike had to keep the phone away from his ear.

"As you said, there's no secret between me and Derek." Mike chuckles.

"Not like you imagined, Mike! I was a bit drunk back then, so I accidentally attacked Alex and kissed her like that! I certainly wasn't serious about getting her married!" Eve's voice over there sounded very irritated.

Mike's laughter exploded. Derek actually never said the reason Evangeline went months abroad. So this is the reason, Eve must have felt very embarrassed and wanted to avoid Alex so accept the job.

The loud laughter heard on her phone made Eve realize that something was strange.

"Mike .. don't tell me Derek actually never ...." Eve fell silent, the woman was heard to catch her breath.

"You're right Eve. Derek never said anything. Well ... I asked, but didn't get any answers. Now you answer it yourself." Mike's laughter grew louder, "oh my goodness ... Poor alex ...."

"Mikeeeeeee!" Eve's scream in her ear made Mike turn off the phone. He was still giggling with amusement as he turned towards Reggie.

"You guys seem very familiar." Reggie smiled at Mike who didn't stop laughing.

"It should be Regina. We're the Langton Clan. Eve's like a brother to Derek, which means a brother to me."

That brief explanation made Reggie understand. The same feeling he felt for Amy.

"Come, we're leaving."

There was no significant change from the mansion, only some parts of the eastern wing appear to have been renovated.

"Is the secret passage still left by Derek?" Reggie walked slowly towards the main door of the mansion. A well-dressed man greeted their arrival.

"Yes. Derek let it go" said Mike quietly.

"You've come, sir," said the man who greeted them while bowing respectfully. Mike smiled.

"Yes. I'm going around, Watson. Thank you for taking care of everything."

"It should be, sir." The man opens the door and lets Mike and Reggie in.

The sight before him made Reggie remember the dozens of people who had to meet his death that night. The room was still the same and he was one of the living witnesses who could tell how terrible Jack's massacre was. Mike hugged his shoulder and stopped him.

"I'm fine," Reggie said hoarsely.

"I knew. Better find the thing you want to take, then we go home."

Reggie nodded at Mike's words. He stepped into the room he used to occupy while living in this mansion.

Reggie walks into his old room followed by Mike. The girl turned around to look around her room before stopping at a rose painting. The girl felt something in the back corner of the painting and suddenly the painting shifted.

Mike approached and looked into the small space behind the painting. There's a box that Reggie picked up. He opened it and checked, then smiled happily. Reggie held up a pearl bracelet that looked ordinary.

"Is that what you're looking for?"

Mike's question was answered nodding by Reggie.

"All of it is the relic of my late mother."

To Mike, Reggie's words have explained everything. Reggie's reason for wanting to come to that place.

"Is there anything else?" ask Mike again.

"Nothing," Reggie replied softly.

"Then we go straight home." Mike decided while holding Reggie's hand. To get out of the mansion.
