Chapters 37. Message Notes

Mike woke up on his face on the bed, groaning and feeling his heavy, spinning head.

"Fucking drink!" Mike curses and turns, lying on his bed. He closed his palms to his eyelids.

The business meeting with Mr. Osaka that Eve brought to see Derek last night ended in chaos. Mr. Osaka invites them to drink until Derek is uprooted and finally has to be taken to a hotel room. Mike himself was very drunk, which he remembered was Eve's arm leading him and half dragging him into the parking lot. Mike also remembers Derek being wedded by Alex and a member of their crew.

Alex drives him home and takes Eve and Derek back to Langton Mansion.

Mike dragged his body to wake up. He does not want Reggie to wake up, then find Mike asleep with the smell of alcohol still attached to his body. His thumping head made Mike go to the bathroom, then doused himself with a splash of cold water. He rested on the wall and closed his eyes for a few minutes. Then he began to take off his wet clothes one by one. Mike stood for a long time under the shower, kneeling his forehead and scalp.

"The man felt nothing. He keeps us drinking ...." Mike recalls the pushy Osaka master accompanying the drink and ends up laughing at Mike and Derek.

After feeling shivering under the water, Mike just turned off the faucet and wrapped his body with a towel. He stepped out of the bathroom and dried his body.

A few minutes later Mike was already in the kitchen, brewing coffee with only his trousers and bare chest. He looked around his kitchen area which now always looked neat. Mike smiled slanted to find Reggie's red-laced apron hanging on a hanger near his kitchen door.

Not just the kitchen. The girl also made the whole room in her apartment clean and tidy, then the moment that Mike liked the most was when he came home from work, there was someone waiting for him in this apartment. Greet him with a glass and water, and they will talk about all that they have done that day.

Mike sat down on the kitchen chair and sipped the bitter coffee he made. The silence in the kitchen made her feel a little foreign. He had grown accustomed to Reggie going back and forth in the kitchen, looking from his current chair as the girl prepared food or washed dishes. Mike smiled again, the girl not only invaded the room of his apartment, but also the room in his heart without Mike being able to prevent.

Mike glanced at the wall clock and realized Reggie was usually up at this hour. Why did the girl still not come out of the room. After taking a sip of his coffee and putting the glass back on the tabletop, Mike got up and stepped towards Reggie's room.

"Regina ...."

Mike frowned when he saw the room was empty. The bed still looks neat like it's not sleeping. Mike immediately turned towards the sofa in the TV room. Maybe Reggie slept there because of a nightmare and there was no Mike next to him. But there's no Reggie on that couch. Mike pinched his forehead, his heart started pounding.

As fast as lightning he returned to Reggie's room. He pulled the closet door and found none of the girl's clothes. Mike looked around and saw a piece of paper on the bed that was not visible to him.

Mike picked it up and read it quickly.

Dear Mike, please,

Sorry for not telling you. There's something I need to do. So I'm gone and I'm not coming back, I don't know how long.

So please tell Derek, please take care of Amy for me, please take care and protect her......

I'm grateful to you Mike. Thank you for taking care of me all this time....

Goodbye, Goodbye,

Mike sat down on the bed, slowly folding the paper and putting it in a bag.

Mike returned to his room, looked for a shirt and immediately put it on. His brain suddenly stalled. Regina left ... without saying goodbye.

The sound of his cell phone ringing rang out loud in the silence of the room. Mike ignored it. He laid his body on his back on the bed with both hands covering his eyes.

The ringing of the phone did not stop either, as if someone who called him would not give up before he raised the call.

Mike moved and stood up to pick up the phone that kept ringing.

"City ...." His voice sounded hoarse and his throat felt agonizing as he said that word. Mike swallowed.

"Oh my God, you're finally awake. I thought I should go there to pick you up. Why did you pick up the phone for so long? Ah, I know, you still have a headache, don't you." Eve's rant was heard in Mike's ear.

"Yes ...." Mike answered short while twitching his forehead.

"Sorry to interrupt your break, Mike. But you have to come here now. Amy ...." Eve's speech was interrupted.

Eve's voice sounded serious and somewhat agitated.

"What's wrong? What's going on?" Mike stopped his movements from twitching his forehead.

"Amy go, Mike. Derek doesn't know yet. He was still sleeping because he was drunk last night. You can't listen to me because you're drunk. So I can just ask Alex for help. But to date we have lost track of her ...."

Mike clutched the phone in his ear. Amy goes ... Reggie left.

"We're waiting for you at the office, Mike. Derek's gonna catch up when he wakes up and we're gonna talk about it here. I need you Big brother." Eve's voice sounded weak and there was a tinge of fear there.

"Alright .. wait for me."
