Chapters 14. Fell asleep

Mike waited for Derek to finish reading the email Evangeline sent him . One of their company directors in the state. Derek is pioneering the massive expansion of their company into Asian countries. Evangeline who is smart, agile and good at seeing opportunities is the right choice to deal with the problem and most importantly she is one of Derek's most trusted right hands.

"With his genius, the profits of the company re-enter multiplied. We're not wrong to appoint him to handle new projects in Asia." Derek smiled at the laptop in front of him.

"He volunteered without you forcing him. I was surprised ... usually he only wants to do work outside our country in just a few weeks. Now that it's been a few months, the girl doesn't even want to go home. The job was very successful." Mike looked at Derek who was laughing softly hearing his words.

"You don't know? There was a certain reason that he voluntarily set out to take care of this project, and I was grateful that I didn't have to bother persuading him."

"What reason?" Mike waited for Derek's smiling answer while shaking his head.

"Oh no ... Eve would scold me if I didn't keep a secret .. For sure, she wanted to get out of here and disappear, until she decided that it was possible for her to set foot back into this mansion."

Mike frowned at Derek's words.

"Who would forbid him to come back here?" Mike doesn't understand. But he only got the answer to the jittery and head bobble from Derek.

"Something made Eve want to escape. I hope he stays there until our companies stabilize before he decides to go back."

"He never wanted to leave our country for more than two weeks. He will also return as soon as possible and meet you whom he considers to be his brother. Now he's been gone for months. I'm surprised."

Derek smiled at Mike.

"If you're very curious, you call and ask him directly."

Mike sneered, Evangeline won't tell Mike the truth. The woman simply complied with Derek who was already like a sibling to her. Because Derek was the one who took care of Evangeline when she was a kid.

"The woman will only answer me while circling the word to play me. Youknow him. He's never serious."

Derek laughed again, Evangeline is actually very serious. He will take a job and finish it very well. His intelligence makes everything easily solved by him.

"Ac.h.I miss him. He's really gone too long this time."

"He's already you consider your own brother. It's only natural you miss your family."

"You're all my family, Mike. Loyal people even since my father was alive. You guys helped me even ready to sacrifice a life for this family." Derek looked seriously at the right hand that had been working on him even since his father still held the reins of the Langton family.

"Your father is my savior, Derek. I've sworn to be loyal to her and her family."

"You never told me how you got here. I never talked about it either. He just said that you refused when he wanted to adopt you without saying why you refused and that he respected your wishes."

Mike just smiled at Derek.

"Your father was a very good man. He takes care of the people who work for him seriously. Paying attention to their well-being, health and even safety."

The two men looked at each other. Derek is eager for Mike to tell his life story before they meet at the Langton family. But the man always closed the meeting. It was as if looking back at the past was painful for him.

"Then let it be like that Derek." Mike's words left Derek speechless. He remembers asking his father about Mike. But his father smiled and told him not to bring it up. Because it would make Mike feel so sad. Hearing that Derek always tried to refrain from asking Mike. He doesn't want to make Mike recollect the sad wounds of his past.

Now he accidentally mentions the past. Derek fell silent, feeling uncomfortable with his words earlier.

"Don't hesitate, Derek. I just don't want to bring it up." Mike smiled, trying to eliminate the discomfort seen on Derek's face.

"Well. I think our work here is done. I'm going downstairs. Look at the stray cat I left in the park." Mike left Derek with a smile.

"Yes, you should check it out. Who knew that girl was clawing someone's cheek." Derek chuckled at Mike who left him while grunting, understanding if the words were referring to him who had been scratched by Regina.

Exiting the side porch door, Mike's eyes were immediately fixed on Reggie who was seen lying on his own arm. He approached slowly without a sound. He looked at the girl's tightly closed eyes. Mike was surprised to realize the girl had actually fallen asleep in the long chair. Mike knelt on the floor in front of Reggie's head, looking down slightly at the plain face of the slumbering girl.

He looked like a plain and submissive little boy when he was closed like this, but was very inversely proportional when the two eyes were open. You must be a tough girl, Arthur entrusted his only daughter to you.

Mike watched the eyelids in front of him blink. Open for a moment and then close again. As if adjusting to the light around the gazebo.

Mike waited for the eyes to focus after repeatedly gnawing. Those black eyes were fixated when they realized the pair of gray eyes that were in front of his eyes. They were long-sighted before Regina finally came to her senses and scrunched her forehead.

"What are you doing here?" Reggie got up to sit down, but the numbness and tingling from the arms he folded to become a head pad made him grimace.

"Ow .. ufhhhh." Reggie straightened his arm which was then pulled by Mike. The man slowly pinched, making the tingling feeling he felt finally diminish and disappear.

"Thank you" whispered Reggie quietly.

"It turns out your mouth can also thank you, too" sneered Mike as he continued to massage Reggie's arm.

"The wind blowing here makes me sleepy." Reggie yawned and covered his mouth with his other arm, deliberately not responding to Mike's scorn just now.

"Is it better?" Mike's question was answered with a nod of his head from Reggie. Mike then stood up from the floor and sat down next to Reggie in a chair. They were silent enjoying the cool breeze blowing towards the gazebo.

Jeez .. I guess I'm still dreaming . I opened my eyes and saw it right in front of my face. Fortunately, I did not delude and sighed his name. He could be big-headed and will keep teasing me.

Regina is grateful she didn't do anything embarrassing when she woke up and found Mike looking at her.

Why does she always make me feel like I have trouble keeping both my hands from touching her. Fortunately, I just looked at him. If he wakes up and finds that I'm stroking his lips or just lightly tasting them, he will surely go back into a rage! It will be very difficult ... Mike was busy with his own thoughts.

Without the two of them noticing, they had been silent in the passing minutes. Keep talking to yourself in silence, without arguing and not fighting.
