Chaptre 42. Gloomy

Mike stands on the balcony of the library room of Langton's main mansion. He's waiting for Derek. The man had just arrived with his wife. But a shocking news about his wife's recent pregnancy makes Mike have to give the couple time to share happily.

Eve and Alex apparently already know about Amy who is pregnant and Mike who came later finally told. They thought Amy had told Derek, but apparently Derek's wife had not told her husband at all because her concern for Reggie's disappearance had sidetracked her.

Derek, who overhears Eve's conversation, becomes the last person to know that his wife is pregnant. Derek got a little furious and they had to get out of the way so the husband and wife could talk.

Mike took a deep breath, filling up his thigh which continued to feel heavy. Reggie disappears...find the girl, then find the girl's past connected to her own past that she has long buried.

His desire not to look to the past seemed to be untenable. He had to go back and find information. The girl really makes Mike have to strip all his shields one by one and then stand up and face his past once again.

The wind blew making Mike's long hair drift in the wind. He rested his hands on the balcony railing and looked far into the blue sky interspersed with white clouds clumping.

"You intentionally lengthened your hair?"

The sudden greeting made Mike turn around. Looking at Derek who stepped into the balcony and stood next to him. Mike touched his hair and glanced at Derek.

"Is it that long?" ask her with a frown. Derek sniffed his shoulder.

"I thought you were intentionally, inspired Lucius may be .. It's already beyond your ears."

Derek saw Mike raise his eyebrows and smiled obliquely.

"sorry. I'm not a fan of hers. Just haven't had a chance."

Derek laughed softly at Mike's words, then the two looked up at the sky and crossed each other, standing in silence.

"How many months?" Mike broke the silence.

"Entering the third month."

"Congratulations, Derek."

Derek nods at Mike's congratulations on Amy's pregnancy, then they fall silent again.

A few minutes passed and Derek finally broke the silence.

"You talking about it? You're very upset. Something's bothering you ...."

Derek glanced through the tail of his eyes Mike pulled his hair and exhaled heavily, the man laughed bitterly.

"Come on .. I don't know where to start."

Mike kept quiet, and Derek didn't know what to say. He never saw Mike this bad. Mike always knows what he wants, always knows what he has to do.

"I'll go tomorrow to*S*nake River. Maybe in 2 days I won't be back."

Derek frowned, a sense of wonder entwined him.

"Snake River ? You're going to visit old Homer?

Derek saw Mike nod his head.

"For what?"

"But Mike .. We have to move to find Reggie first. We can help Lucius if Reggie's back and fine."

"It has something to do with Regina, Derek. You remember when Lucius said that Marinna ran away Sanchez's daughter?" Mike said by facing Derek completely.

Derek nodded.

"Lucius' sister. The little girl with black hair and black eyes" Derek said, repeating Lucius' words he remembered.

"Yes ..the little girl is Regina and Marinna is her mother. He went on the run from the Sanchez family with his daughter."

With wide eyes Derek shook his head repeatedly. His mouth will open, say something, then close it again, repeatedly he opens, and then he says something. Words can't get out of Derek's lips. His brain was processing all the information and deducing something.

"Yes God ... Mike ... that's why my father and Arthur Sky ...." Derek stopped and gulped to smooth his throat which felt dry.

"Marinna's looking for Isabella to the mansion ...." Derek stopped again. With his heart pounding he felt he had made one big mistake by giving Lucius access.

"Yes .. and he met your father Erland, not Isabella. Because Isabella or Margaretha Langton had left the Langton family. Married to Arthur Sky. Marinna came asking for protection."

"The protection that Arthur Sky ended up giving, because Margaretha asked for it" Derek said.

Mike nodded at Derek's words and he continued the explanation.

"Protection that was also given by your father, because Margaretha wanted it. Erland will do anything for your aunt."

"Mike .. Are you sure about this information? Reggielah the sister Lucius was looking for?"

"I'm a hundred percent sure, Derek. But don't let anyone know. Especially Lucius. We don't know why they're hunting Marinna. Why did Marinna run away from them."

"Oh my God, Mike ... Dad, Auntie and Arthur hid Marinna and Reggie for years and I gave Sanchez a way to find him. What I've done ...." The crane rested on the balcony railing, its forehead wrinkled deep.

"It wasn't your fault. I made a deal with him that time. We needed it at that time. Your life and Amy's life are more important."

Derek took a deep breath, his hands clasped tightly onto the balcony railing until it turned white.

"Make sure what Sanchez's plans and intentions are with Marinna and Reggie .. and make sure this secret is unknown to Mike!"

Mike nodded with his jaw hardened.

"We need to try harder to find Reggie. Make sure Lucius doesn't find it first!"

Derek's orders were spoken with determination that was the main plan that Mike prioritized in his brain at the moment.
