Episode 120: The Society of Men

I woke up from my deep sleep to the point of not having any dreams at all. I breathe fresh morning air and I move my body to get out of bed. Gavin who is very slumbering still snores with fun. These few days I was able to sleep peacefully because of him who did not move much while his leg was still injured.

After cleaning, I took the clothes from the closet and put them on. Looks like some of the books I bought at the educational festival yesterday. When I left the room, Rein and Cassie still hadn't shown themselves. I also took the initiative to make breakfast for today. Those who used to make dishes, now I take over temporarily. While preparing the equipment and materials, I said to myself not to be silent.

“Alright... Anything in the refrigerator?”

There are several spices and seasonings, but strangely there is not a single seasoning of ready-to-eat cuisine. Everything is still raw material and must make it from scratch. I was a little confused because it was not like what I used to see in my fridge. The swirling clock made me think of the food I was going to make.

At the moment of silence, suddenly my phone alarm went off in my pants pocket. I jumped in shock and turned off the alarm immediately. And that's when it popped into my head to look at the recipe from the cell phone.

“Oh yes, there is already technology, Adelard.”

The food that always came to my mind was the meat soup with black sauce that had always been my favorite. I lit the stove and one by one I cut the ingredients and I put it in the pot with medium fire. I followed the guide on my phone screen. The pleasant fragrant aroma then spread throughout the room. Rein walked out of his room with his sleepy face. He was still confused by the smell he smelled.

“Wuah... What is this smell? You're cooking?”

“Iya.”

“Hmm... Wow, fragrant too.” He came to me and helped me prepare breakfast. The drowsiness made him slightly limp and walk unsteadily. I who saw him quickly asked him to just wait.

“It's okay, let me. You rest for a while.” While yawning, Rein remained cool to continue helping me.

“Not a problem, I'm just a little sleepy.”

We also prepared morning meals for all of us. Rein helped me to pick up some cutlery, while I stirred some soup. Then Rein came up to me with a spoon in his hand.

“Your favorite meat soup?” I asked her question. Then he tasted the soup with a spoon he held.

“Enak once,” muttered inexhaustibly. “Show are you in this.” I who heard it was happy.

“Thank you.”

Shortly afterwards, Gavin's voice came from the room. He called me with a loud voice. Immediately I left my work to Rein and went into the room. Upon arrival inside, Gavin had gone to sit on the bed and wanted to see the living room, but the wheelchair was far away from him.

“I want to see out room.”

“Oke, wait a minute.” After that I pushed the wheelchair along with her out of the room. Apparently Rein has served the soup following tableware that has been neatly arranged on the dining table. I saw him confused.

“Loh, is it ripe?”

“Iya already.”

We approached Rein who was sitting quietly at the dinner table. At the same time, Cassie came out of her room. Then we all ate our morning meal while having a casual chat. After that, each of us did some morning activities inside the hostel as usual. After cleaning myself up, I took my clothes and Gavin. I accidentally dropped a book about romance I bought yesterday.

“What book is it?” ask Gavin curiously. I realized it suddenly in the fog and immediately put it back.

“B—Nothing!”

“Come on, take it easy. Nothing to be ashamed of.” Resisting the shame, I asked him again to make sure.

“You won't laugh at me, right?”

“No way, no need to be afraid of this friend of yours.” Then I gave the book to him. When he saw it he was surprised and very happy.

“Woah! You bought this book?”

“Iya... I bought the book yesterday.” Then he opened each page with excitement. I breathed a sigh of relief because there was nothing to be ashamed of.

“You should have bought one for me,” throw Gavin.

“Oh yes, yes also.”

I who have not read carefully then make me curious as well, while Gavin was engrossed in reading the book on the bed while lying on his stomach. I approached him and we read together. Just a few pages, I've got a lot of new information and insights about romance. There are a lot of words that a woman says here. Some words are very much related to my days.

“Wah, this is a sentence that I often hear when with Cassie,” said Gavin while pointing at the writing, while I was still silent focused on some writing.

“If only we had this book since the beginning,” he continued. Moments later, Rein called us from outside the room.

“Adelard! Gavin! Outside is Rhean and Gandra!” We both got out of bed. Gavin put the book in his pocket and held it. I who had been holding a wheelchair was suddenly astonished by the war.

“E—Eh? You want to take him?” I was a little surprised.

“Of course. We can discuss with each other,” replied Gavin smiling. I can only give up on him. Then we approached the two of them who had been waiting in the hallway. We too

greet each other with them. Then Rhean told me what he meant to bring us both.

“Let's go to the study park!”

“Oh yes, then exactly. We are also reading this book,” replied Gavin who then showed the book to the two of them. Rhean who saw it was stunned.

“Wah, you guys bought a book about love?” throw it hard enough. We all warned him.

“Sshh!” He who had just realized immediately covered his mouth with his palm. Then Gandra invited us all to leave immediately.

“Come, we have to quickly get out of here!”

“Hopefully they didn't hear it inside,”.

We also walked from the dormitory to the learning park which is still inside the school complex. Looked at the students who passed here and there. Not a few of them spend the weekend walking around the complex. And most of them also enjoy it by getting together, just like the activity we do today.

Arriving at the learning park, we see people gathered at many tables available. Fortunately, Gandra found an empty table. We immediately headed to the table. Not far from where we were, there were several food stalls lined up on the edge of the park. Rhean also offers snacks that we want to buy. We each give out our orders.

“Alright then, I order, yes,” Rhean said. Then he called a drink-sword at one of the stalls and mentioned our order. He mentioned it quite from the seat and did not need to approach it.

“Pak! Ice chocolate one! Orange juice one! And two iced coffees, yes!”

“OK, ready!” sahut the seller. While waiting for the order to arrive, we chatted about the book.

“When did you buy it, Adelard?” ask Gandra curiously.

“When I was alone with Cassie. I accidentally saw the book,” I replied.

“E—Eh? Not been caught?” rhean asked confusedly.

“The seller put it in a thick pouch. So not visible.”

“What does Rein not feel suspicious?” ask Gavin to me.

“He asked, but I replied that this is a male secret.”

“Wah, your answer is a bit ambiguous, yes,” lontar Rhean laughed jokingly. We went page by page to discuss it together.
