Episode 98: Haunting Shadows

Time had shown midnight and now it had entered the turn of the day. However, the audience is still crowded the market tonight. I just found out from a brochure given by one of the market employees, the market we are currently visiting will be closed until dawn. The information answered my question about the market in this city that never sleeps.

Rein and I are still waiting for Gavin and Cassie in front of the haunted house. I was still resting to recover my energy that was almost depleted due to my excessive reaction while inside the haunted house earlier. Meanwhile, Rein looked at the shops around us, the cold night made his stomach go hungry, as did I.

“It looks like they are still a long time, how about we buy food first?” bring Rein to me, but I'm worried that we'll all be separated like we were this afternoon.

“But if we lose them again how?” my reply. He laughed out loud as he spoke to me.

“You're all there is! We can just buy it in a store near here, right?”

“Oh yes, yes too..” sahutku cengar-cengar.

Then the two of us approached a stall that provided grilled food. We chose the store because of the aroma of the smoke of the burning appetizing. Fortunately, the place was not crowded with people, so we did not have to endure hunger any longer. We also do not need to worry because the shop is right next to the haunted house.

Arriving there, we ordered some skewers, but I was confused to choose a menu that is quite a lot listed.

“I want a three-pointed sausage and two-pointed intestinal satay,” Rein told the seller, while I was still looking through the menu.

“What do you want to order?” ask Rein.

“Hmm... I'm confused. Everything looks delicious,” I replied as my hand held my chin.

“We want to buy for them too, right?” ask him.

“Yes, surely they want it,” he replied smiling.  I finally decided and told the seller my order.

“Then, all kinds of satay, five skewers each,” lontarku. Instantly they both gasped in shock and disbelief at my words just now.

“You sure, sir?” ask the seller to make sure.

“Seriously? That's a lot, you know..” Rein continued.

“Iya, please make me, yes,” reply smile. Rein looked at me continuously with a sense of wonder.

“Let me pay,” I said as I opened my wallet.

“Thank you,” reply happy.

After that, we returned to the bench in front of the haunted house with hands full of fists. I didn't expect that my ordered food would be this much. Then we both ate the skewers while waiting for those who did not come out of there. There is a line that remains crowded even though the day is really late.

“After they...” blow Rein sleepy fatigue.

“Iya, whereas we only differ five minutes, right?” my reply. Then we both woke up again and again worried about Cassie.

“Cassie is really fine, right?” lontar Rein's.

“Hopefully so...” answered me while hoping. “But what about Gavin? Is he not afraid?” I continue to be curious.

“Eleven twelve with you,” he replied. “Eh, but you're a little bolder, maybe.”.

“Yah... Naturally, anyone will also be afraid to be in it,”.

Soon, Cassie and Gavin leave the haunted house. But seeing their condition now made us both suddenly panic. We ran to them too. Cassie seemed to be crying and almost unconscious. His face was as pale as a living corpse. Meanwhile, the lethargic Gavin is no longer strong enough to embrace Cassie.

“You all right?” rein asked worriedly.

“A...ku... mau... vomit...” Rein replied slowly. Rein accompanies Cassie to the nearest restroom. I took Gavin to the bench to accompany Gavin to rest and calm down.

“Huft... Huft... I almost died because of hangers...” hepus while correcting his breathing. Then I reached out and offered the food we had bought before. In a weak tone he rejected my offer.

“Sorry... I don't want to eat..”.

“Alright.. Sorry to offer you as I please.” reply.

Me and Gavin don't talk to each other much, so I use my time to fill my stomach. I took food from the plastic bag, but suddenly he gasped in surprise and turned to me. I was surprised by his response.

“Gosh!” lontarku at the same time. “It's food,” further I replied. “Almost I spilled this food,” I murmured in my heart.

“I guess something, it turns out just the sound of plastic,” his mouth breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing his misgivings made me think that Gavin was still in the shadows with the horror inside the haunted house. I also tried to calm him down.

“In a deep breath... Slowly throw...” I said to him. He followed my orders. “Quiet, there is me beside you..” I continued slowly while rubbing his back. It didn't take long, Gavin finally calmed down, and Cassie and Rein came back from the bathroom.

“Have you improved?” I was worried about Cassie. He also nodded towards me. “If you still feel unwell, we can stop by the pharmacy for a while,” I told him.

“Let's go to the pharmacy... Then go home..” take Cassie in a slow tone.

We all decided to go back to the dorm. We also intend to stop by for a moment to the pharmacy that we had previously passed when the trip departed this morning. Rein and I walked next to Gavin, while Cassie was behind Gavin's back. Cassie was still frightened and her body trembled slightly. He also looked around with his body slightly lowered.

“Aaaa!” cassie's spontaneous scream surprised us all.

“A—What's Cassie?” manya restless.

He looked in one direction and there was a cat there. Cassie was shocked by the sound of a cat meowing not far from her. Then we all continued walking along the sidewalk. We were getting further and further away from the center of the crowd and the place we were walking in already seemed deserted. Despite the bright light, Cassie still creeps in fear. Often he surprised himself with the sounds that sounded suddenly.

“He became very afraid of anything.” my mind.

After stopping by the pharmacy, we walked home tired. We don't all talk to each other. I just want to hurry up and lie down on the bed. We finally arrived at the school complex. The area looked quiet and silent, only in the light of the slightly dim street lights.

“Thinking once...” Lontar Gavin.

“I don't want to see anything!” cetus Cassie with her face on Gavin's back.

“Come quickly we go to the dorm,” I said.

Arriving at the dormitory we felt very relieved, but the feeling was only intermittent for a few seconds, until we opened the door and went inside. It looks like a middle room that is very similar to a room in a haunted house. Television, sofas, and desks occupy a similar place and perspective. This made Cassie whine in fear and hugged Gavin tightly.

“I'm afraid..” hisses. Gavin looks pretty happy with Cassie sticking tight on his back.

“He was even a pleasure in a situation like this, my inner” was a little irritated towards Gavin.

We were all getting ready for bed and entering our own rooms, but the very frightened Cassie didn't want to be in a quiet place. He held the door of the room I was closing. I yawned and asked his wish. With a disjointed tone, he answered my question slowly.

“A—I want ti—dur together..” the door is sobbing. Suddenly I was shocked to hear his words.

“H—Hah?”

“A—ku no... want to sleep joints—rian...”

Without a second thought I accepted his request. Soon Rein ran over to us.

“I don't want to sleep alone there.”

“Wait, does the mattress fit?” I asked while looking at the mattress in the room, while Gavin was lying with his body stretched out to all sides of the mattress.

“Jeez, I just remembered that there was this guy,” I murmured in my heart.

I looked around the room and found a carpet roll that was not too thin. Then I put the carpet in the middle room. We all picked up pillows and blankets. Then we lay on the carpet. The carpet is not as comfortable as a soft mattress, but at least there is nothing to fear.

I slept next to Rein, so close to Cassie and Gavin. When sorted from the left, Rein occupies the very end, then me, Cassie, and Gavin. The lights in the living room were deliberately not turned off in order to eliminate the fear of all of us. Gavin fell asleep immediately.

I closed my eyes quietly, but suddenly Rein and Cassie hugged me from the opposite direction. I was shocked by something that happened to me like this all of a sudden. I can't move at all. Their tight hugs made it hard for me to breathe. I was just wondering to myself.

“E—Eh? Why did it suddenly become like this?”
