Episode 8: The Short Brain
The lesson time is still quite long. So this time we use to complete the task as soon as possible. Yet I was still confused by those who suddenly wandered towards me. Then they explain its appearance here.
“Ignore us only. We do not intend to disturb you both.” said one of them.
“Lah? Keep coming here to do what, Mas?” I was angry in my heart. Then I taught Hart and worked together while they just listened and copied our assignments.
After that Hart and I tried to do it all on their own. But Hart is not very understanding of the material.
“I don't understand this part should be calculated how.” said Hart puzzled while showing the problem to me.
“Oh... The diameter you first change into fingers. After that enter into this formula.” obviously I to him. “Then what is the difference with these two formulas.” asked Hart who seemed to have dizzy to be faced with mathematics.
“This formula you use if the center of the circle is at the x and y coordinates equal to zero. While this one is the opposite.” explained me while teaching him slowly.
“Good. I understand now!” he said with a loud voice and a burning spirit. Hart then worked on it. I also resumed my duties. Not long ago I felt awkward again with him after he said he had finished working.
“Yes! Already done. Hows it? Right, right?” ask Hart with pride and confidence after working on the first number.
“Lah? This is the coordinate axis going back, Bambang.”, I said in a bit of shock to him.
“Loh how can you? Though earlier I was sure to do it.” he said with confusion and still do not believe. “By the way my name is Hart, not Bambang.” Hart told reporters and was a little annoyed. “I know it!” my reply. I ran out of sense to interact with him.
I took a breath and explained. “The x axis is a horizontal line while the y axis is vertical.” I explained by trying to calm him down. “Oh yes, yes. I forgot, hehe...” he said with a cry to me. Hart then went on to work on it again. I continued working on it too. But he again interrupts me who is focused on counting.
“Well, how about now?” ask Hart happily because he has finished working on it even though there is only one question. I was shocked over and over again with her line of thinking that always produced the same answer. I patiently tried not to get angry with him.
“Serious?” he was astonished and could not believe. “Well yes, how can it be the same again?” he added that the confusion was like a child while comparing the two answers. I can only pat my head.
“I think I've done it right.” he said with a slightly sad face. “Horizontal it lines from top to bottom and vertical instead, right?” ask Hart with resignation.
“Your brain is not upside down, right?” I murmured softly to him while sighing.
“Come... I am not like an alien whose brain is constantly molten.” whine while giving subtle insinuations to me. I was confused to be upset by his behavior, his words, or his equally dilapidated thoughts.
“May there be only one you like this.” hope I am in heart. But at that very moment my hope was broken after seeing my friends who were looking at us with confusion and blank stares.
“Looks like I shouldn't expect much..” My inner heart is clear.
Then I explained to Hart and showed him how to count. Hart could only pay attention while putting his chin on the table. Some of my friends were chatting.
“Ah already! I'm dizzy.” Hart said, lowering his head on the table and then sleeping. “Yah... shorting.” I told him. “You can do it without me. I want to calm down for a while.” said Hart with his man dragged like people have not been fully aware of sleep.
I finally did all those things. Hart was still asleep and my friends were engrossed in his own world. After my assignment was over I gave my book to Hart. Hart accepted it and then copied it with a still-sleepy face. My friends copied it too. I can only beg in my heart.
