Episode 82: Student Exchange

The time wheel kept rolling, the morning came to set aside the night. All life awakens from sleep as the sun emits its rays to warm the earth. The scorching heat of the sun accompanied by a gust of wind blowing peacefully. The leafy leaves that were swinging dance together to witness my journey at this time.

I've been getting ready with some of my suitcases and backpack. My sister helped lift my luggage into the trunk of the car. Meanwhile my mother was preparing breakfast and my father checked the vehicle and tidied it up. After that, we all went out for breakfast and left. But I became astonished because the car went in the opposite direction to the airport.

“Where are we going first, Yah?” manya curious.

“To Cassie's house,” replied my father.

Arriving at Cassie's house, I met her and her parents. We talked to each other before continuing our journey. After all, we prepared to go to the airport, along with Cassie's parents who participated in sending us both. A beautiful view of the city from the car window.

I enjoyed my last moments in this city. Although only wandering for one year, but it seems I do not want to think about my home. Likewise with Cassie who really looked at with a longing face. The atmosphere in the car was also broken and warm with the casual conversation we all had.

Until this car enters the airport terminal. We all got out of the vehicle and our luggage, and my father had to park the vehicle first. The departure schedule written on the ticket signifies another hour. While waiting, we took the time to walk around the terminal.

Along the foot is displayed a row of food and souvenir shops. I who have never been to this place before was stunned by the grandeur of this great building.

“That's a big deal..” said I was flabbergasted. Looks like a bakery and catches Cassie's attention.

“Let's go to that bakery,” take him full of excitement. Then we all followed him. I ordered a chocolate sandwich, and Cassie ordered a coffee bun. I was surprised at him instantly.

“You like coffee?” my many. Taking her order of bread, she smiled and nodded at me. “Iya.”

Shortly thereafter, without our guessing, my friends came to meet us who were eating bread. His sudden presence made us both choke in shock.

“Adelard! Cassie!” call Freda while running.

“K—You guys are coming here?” lontarku.

“Yes! We want to give the best farewell to you both,” Hart replied smiling. Then we talked and introduced my family and Cassie.

“Wah... I can't believe that Brother has many friends,” my sister insinuated and irritated me.

“You look like Freda, yes,” Eledarn continued to my sister laughing. Cassie's father was no less surprised and happy at the same time. “Finally you are friends with many people,” he said slowly. Cassie who heard it became embarrassed.

“Take it easy! We are friends!” freda shouted excitedly.

Without us knowing the departure gate will be opened in half an hour. Cassie and I had to get inside the gate and do a ride a few minutes earlier. Both of us say goodbye to family and friends. A sense of sadness at once happy accompanies all of us. I also hugged each other to everyone.  Some time later we heard the sound of a departure notice, and now it was time for us to part ways.

“We go first,” I said smiling as I pushed the trolley. Tears dripped from Freda's face.

“Never forget us,” reply Milard. Emery came up to me and gave me something.

“This is from Clarissa, Mesha, and Nana for you. Who knows it will be useful there,”. I received a specially made notebook with my name written on the cover and some other stationery.

“Thank you. I will use it well,” I said. “Oh yes, send my regards to the three of them, yes.” Emery replied to me with a big grin.

“Tell us when you get there, son,” said my father with his hand on my shoulder. “Good, Well,”I'm happy.

“Until we meet again next year!” freda Lontar.

Cassie and I walked to the terminal entrance. Right in front of the gate we both waved farewell at all of them. They do the same to us. Meanwhile Freda whines like a child and attracts people. Hart and the others were overwhelmed to calm him down. Cassie and I just laughed at it from a distance. Then we both went inside and disappeared from their sight.

“It's done, yes..” said Milard slowly.

On the other hand, both of us had gotten into the plane. Upon arrival inside I was very stunned and speechless. The seats are lined up and each of them is separated by a bulkhead. I sat in the window seat and Cassie was next to me. Shortly after, the plane took off. There's not much to do but rest and sleep. The journey by plane takes three hours.

The plane is now flying quietly above the clouds. I couldn't sleep, just looked at the window and turned on the little television provided. It was clearly visible next to me Cassie who was fast asleep. Her plain and pretty face and her forehead covered by her hair made me continue to look at her unconsciously.

Soon a flight attendant came up to me and gave me a menu for lunch. It didn't dare to wake Cassie up.

“No need, let me wake him later,” I said smiling at him. The flight attendant walked away from me.

Then I woke Cassie up slowly, but she never woke up and just changed her sleeping posture. I saw him become unable to believe that there was a hidden character in him that I had just learned. My mind kept asking questions after questions.

“It turns out Cassie has a hard time waking up?”

After a long time, he finally woke up from his sleep. Then I told him it was lunchtime. After that I gave the menu book. I called the flight attendant and ordered it, along with Cassie.

The flattening of the surface landscape below drifted further away from the vision as the flying ship continued to pierce the clouds. The waters and areas below us pass one by one. The plane finally landed safely. We both arrived in Yagotarkia, the Student City on the Malaerath mainland.

Cassie and I came out of the passenger gate, and there was a pick-up waiting for us. Then we both rode in a luxurious pick-up car. During the trip we both chatted with the driver.

“We're going to the hostel or the school directly, Sir?” manya curious.

“Two,” answers briefly while smiling. I was confused by the statement he said just now.

Arriving at the destination, the two of us were then directed to immediately go to the meeting hall. From the front of the gate are huge school buildings. I was just amazed as I walked into the hall. After that the opening ceremony of the exchange program began. Speeches and greetings were delivered in succession.

“Welcome, the participants of the student exchange program. You are representatives of your respective schools and land. There are two school representatives from each mainland, I hope you can all mingle and make friends. Not only with mainland friends, but everything.” Suddenly I was surprised to be astonished after listening to the explanation from the principal at this school.

“E—Eh? So there are other disciples from the same mainland?” mummify slowly.

After the ceremony is over, it is time for room and dormitory sharing. The notice board that contained the share list was immediately surrounded by people, so we could not get close to it and just look at it from a distance. I thought of a way to quickly get to our dormitory.

“How is this?” ask Cassie. Then I saw some people who went to the reception hall. Seen from a distance they were asking for the key and the committee checked the list sheet he held. I had an idea and proposed to Cassie.

“What if we go directly there?” I said pointing to the place. “But what about the host number? You know?” reply Cassie wasn't sure.

“Take it easy. Come,” take me. Upon arrival at the venue I immediately asked for our dorm number. The committee then asked the name and origin of our school.

“The key was already taken by two people before.” I was a little surprised because the key to our dorm was first by someone else.

“If you can know we are in hostel what number?” continue many.

“Homest 347,” replied the committee. Then I asked where the dorm was. After that Cassie and I walked to the place we had been told before, but we were overwhelmed with a lot of luggage.

Arriving at the dormitory, suddenly two people with one of them holding the key of the dorm were present in front of the two of us. We were all surprised by each other.

“K—You?”

“Loh? Adelard?”
