“Alex ...”
Kinara held her husband's chest just a inch away. His eyes were staring at Alex unfocused, watching the curves and facial lines he had known for a long time. Jemari Kinara moved down the jawbone and stopped on the man's lips, rubbing it very gently and carefully. Then without him noticing, a clear and warm grain rolled down from the corners of his eyes.
“What's up, Baby?” alex asked when he saw his wife's strange behavior.
He shrank Kinara's tears, kissed her face lovingly and said, “Sorry if I hurt you, I didn't mean to–“
Kinara. “Not ... I just .. I ...”
Kinara himself did not understand why he suddenly felt so sentimental. Could it be because of the influence of alcohol he drank? Or because Jessica's presence triggers a memory stored tightly in a pandora's box in her head .. um, maybe also because of Alex's very gentle and sweet attitude. I don't know, maybe because of the mix of everything. He could not decide which one had more influence.
“Tell me, what do you think,” Alex said as he rolled over and lay by his wife's side.
Seeing Kinara sobbing like that made her desire evaporate just like that. He pulled out Kinara's body and clenched it tightly. A sense of comfort flowed in his blood as his wife's warm breath gushed down his chest and neck.
“Alex ...,” call Kinara again, “why do you like Jessica?” tanyakanya.
Although she could already guess what Alex was up to, Kinara still wanted to hear her own husband say it. Misconception a dozen years ago, would Alex believe it? He had no chance at all at that time. Jessica and Granny get in the way, just like now.
Alex was silent for a moment. He weighed in and thought of the proper manner of delivery so as not to make Kinara sad.
The man cleared his throat slowly before saying, “At first I only knew her as the daughter of one of my father's business associates. Then one day, he pulled me out of a lake in Minnesota. At that time my father had a summer holiday with all his colleagues. Each of them brought a family, Jessica one of them.”
Alex was silent for a moment, as if he was digging up a memory that began to blur in his memory. If not wrong, he was only ten years old at the time.
Kinara kept quiet and listened to Alex's story patiently. He did not interrupt at all despite the flash of memory when the two of them were almost dead out of breath coming back to the surface. The taste and smell of mud passing through his throat was still vividly remembered. How panicked and afraid he was almost crazy when they managed to reach the mainland but Alex still did not open his eyes. The only feeling that can compensate for his anxiety at that time was when he saw Alex's car plunged into the abyss a few months ago. Remembering all that, her tears flowed even more.
Doesn't the universe unite them in a strange way?
“Continue,” pinta Kinara with hoarse voice. She looked up to look at her husband's face. A face that no one has ever replaced in their entire life.
“That's the past, I don't want to make you uncomfortable hearing it,” Alex said.
“No. Continue.” Kinara insisted. “I want to hear it.”
“I didn't like the crowds, so .. you know, that time I stayed away and looked for some fresh air, sneaked in and looked for a lake that would be used for fishing together. I want to see it before it gets crowded. Unfortunately I slipped while stepping on a stone mossed on the edge. The last thing I remember was a stinging pain in the back of the head."
"Then?"
"When I realized, everyone was already swarming around me. Both my parents were crying and thanking Jessica. He kept sticking to me after that. Until finally we dated .. but believe me, now I just love you,” Alex said and kissed Kinara's head with great affection.
Unknowingly Kinara gripped her husband's arm tightly. The shadow as he ran barefoot through the trees and bushes, ignoring the pain on the surface of his chipped skin only to seek help for Alex. He crosses paths with Jessica in the middle of the road, asking her to accompany Alex as she is about to go tell her father.
However, when she returns, Jessica is already a hailed hero. At that time apparently Jessica brought two bodyguards with her for a walk. They were a bit left behind so Kinara did not see it. Of course it made Jessica able to manage everything very easily, acting as if she was the one who had saved Alex.
Then, when he wanted to get close to Alex, his father withdrew his hand while shaking slowly. At that moment, not a single person noticed his soaked clothes, or the bloody soles of his feet, as well as the dried up tears on his cheeks.
“Alex .. if I say that time .. I pulled you out of the lake, would you believe me?” asked Kinara in a voice resembling the whirling of the wind in autumn,
Alex's body stiffened hearing Kinara's confession.
“Really?” the whisper was soft, really not knowing what to respond.
Kinara smiled and nodded.
“When my dad asked me to come to Minnesota, I was so happy I couldn't sleep all night. I knew you'd be there too, and it got me really excited. I followed you quietly like a thief, hiding behind trees .. followed you from behind like a stray puppy. Then when you fell, I ran and jumped just like that."
Kinara looked up to see Alex's response. She grabbed her husband's face and kissed his lips at a glance as he realized the unreadable expression on the man's face.
"then? What happens next?" alex asked after recovering from his shock.
Kinara's hand moved slowly, down Ales' neck and stopped at the back of his head. Her fingers brushed off her husband's hair, looking for scars that may no longer exist.
“Your head used to bleed here, so much so that the lake water around you blushed. Her blood won't stop even though I've covered her with my wet socks.” Kinara chuckled softly.
“I was really stupid back then. Panic made me an idiot,” muttered again with distant glaring eyes.
His dizziness and nausea had been slightly reduced, but he felt relieved .. At least the alcoholic drink gave him a little courage to tell everything. Alex's problem is to believe him or not, let the man decide.
Alex just fell silent without being able to say anything. All this information is too sudden. It takes time to digest everything well. After all, in his memory there was never a small Kinara figure. He never saw a younger version of his wife in his home or elsewhere. They never cross anywhere.
“We have only seen each other once,” Kinara said as if she could read Alex's mind, “That's when dad just picked me up from school, then the great master asked him to The Spring Mountains to escort him to the office. Dad asked me to wait in the back, where the servants were, but I quietly wandered to the side of the stables. We meet near south gate.”
The image of when he first met Alex and was infatuated with the young man afterwards made Kinara grinning like a fool. Ever since their encounter, he has turned into Alex's shadow, following her in silence wherever the boy wanders, whether at home or at any occasion when they happen to be in the same place. But everything has changed since the events in Minnesota. He never set foot in the Smith house again, and eventually had to work there as a servant.
“You don't remember?” asked Kinara when she saw the look on her husband's face that looked like he was trying hard to remember something.
“Sorry ...,” replied Alex. He felt careless, despite trying his hardest, he still could not remember all the confessions of his wife just now. Even their meeting at the south gate of his house he did not remember. It was precisely the pain that had severely hit his head.
“Alex?”
Kinara looked up when she heard her husband groaning softly.
”Don't force yourself to remember it,” she said again when realizing what was going on with her husband.
“Why don't you try to tell both my parents?” ask Alex, “Or your father .. Why not try to explain it?”
“You think your parents will trust the son of a driver or the daughter of their business partner?”
Kinara smiled bitterly and continued, “After all I've ever wanted to see you after returning to the Spring Mountains. It was Granny who was looking after you. You must know what happens next. That's why I disappeared, because I realized .. you are the prince of the sky whereas I'm just mud that will dirty your footwear.”
Alex was silent at his wife's words. If it was all true ... his heart felt very sick for the little girl who used to desperately save his life, but was forgotten just like that.
Kinara coiled deeper into her husband's arms and said, “Like this alone is more than enough. I just wanted to tell you. Don't feel guilty if you can't remember.”
“I'm sorry,” said Alex slowly, “I really don't remember.”
“No problem, Honey. Look at the whole universe working together to reunite us,” muttered Kinara with a big smile, “You just need to get away from that cunning woman. Don't give him a chance to get close to you again. You don't know how manipulative he is. I don't want to part for the second time with you because of him,” he continued again, then yawned. His eyes feel heavy.
“I'll be careful,” Alex promises while pulling a blanket and covering his wife's body, “Sleep if you're sleepy.”
“Hm,” murmured Kinara. He really wanted to sleep a while. He really feels relieved now. His body feels comfortable and relaxed. In an instant, she was already asleep in her husband's arms.
Alex dizzy, his head hit by a godam. All this time her memory was filled with Jessica's version of the story. The woman crammed her brain with all the stories of her secretly admiring Alex and following her everywhere. About all his fear and worry when he saw Alex almost drowning. Jessica told me everything over and over again, whenever there was a chance.
Alex grew up with Jessica, hearing her story almost every day, and it all turned into a habit. Jessica is so sweet and submissive, doing whatever it takes to please Alex that she feels loving and protecting Jessica is a must.
The feeling continues to grow until Alex finally feels a bond and a sense of dependence that is very large before Jessica disappears. Now, when the woman came back, the only reason she was still being lenient was because of that past story.
But now, his wife conveyed what she had believed to be the truth. Frankly, even though his little heart gave an alarm to trust Kinara, he still remained unconvinced of having to believe Jessica's story or his wife's confession just now.
Other than that he could not remember ever meeting Kinara when they were children, the location where his head was bleeding could be known to anyone who was there at that time, right?
This does not mean he doubts his wife, it's just ....
Alex took a deep breath. His head again throbbed pain as he tried to remember and think. Finally he gave up and coiled in a blanket with his wife, hoping to think more clearly when he woke up later.
