Piles of paper strewn across Alex's desk. He had just printed out all the reports that Anne had sent. The past three months, the Jotuns Corps had already resembled an empty shell. Only the building stood, but there was nothing in it. Jericho really carried out his intention to destroy Alex's hard work.
"Brengje!"
Alex squeezed the papers and threw them in any direction. Although he had tried his hardest to prevent the fall of the Jotuns Corps, it still failed. His position that was still paralyzed and blind could not make him able to move freely. People would have suspected that he had come to know the development of the Jotuns Corps in detail.
Father, mother, especially granny, did not believe what he said about his cousin. In their eyes, he was just being annoyed and wanted to take down Jericho. They don't know the real events are more complicated than just the declining value of Jotuns Corps stock.
Actually, he could have used a shadow bodyguard to save the Jotuns Corps, but that would have made Jericho suspicious and reported it to his superiors. He also can not ask for help to Billy, his best friend was lately deliberately avoided him. He knew Billy was struggling in his own way.
After taking a deep breath, Alex went back to checking the report sheet by sheet before him. There should be something he can point to. He had to find what it was, and where the gap he could use as the starting point of the search was. As long as 03 has not received information about the place he told to track based on information from Billy, they must still try all other possibilities that can be taken.
Alex's hand movements suddenly stopped when he saw a report of the purchase of one of Jotuns Corps' assets in Russia. The name of the company that bought the asset looks familiar.
"Andromeda Corporation's. Where I've seen it," Alex muttered as he picked up another pile of maps on the table.
He read the scanning, saw the names of foreign companies involved in cooperation with Jotuns Corps lately. His eyes were fixed on the name of the developer who won the tender to work on the Jotuns Corps project in China.
Andromeda Corporation's.
Alex separated the file and went back to searching carefully. If the guess is correct, there will be more of that name in other projects. He just has to be patient looking for it.
Geck. Geck. Geck.
Alex looked up when he heard a knock on the door. He glanced at the monitor screen on the table. Kinara was standing with doctor Ana in front of her room. As fast as lightning Alex pressed the button under the table. In an instant the floor moved and opened. The table contains files and the map is pulled down, while a new table that plainly moves up in place of the previous table position. He picked up the paper strewn across the floor and threw it into a trash can, then tiptoed towards his wheelchair that lay facing the window.
"Alex?" call Kinara while knocking on the door again.
"Lake in!" alex answered after wearing his sunglasses.
Kinara pushed the door leaf and walked in. Doctor Ana tailed behind him. The girl walked with long steps towards her husband and stood by the man's side.
"Have you forgotten about seeing Ana's doctor?" asked Kinara while gently touching Alex's shoulder.
"Ah, I forgot," replied Alex. He grabbed Kinara's hand over his shoulder, then kissed her at a glance.
After that failed first night incident, the relationship between them grew closer. However, they have never tried to repeat it again. They both act like it never happened. Alex deliberately let his wife behave that way so that the girl did not feel awkward being around. Kinara was too embarrassed to talk about it with her husband.
"I'll leave you guys to talk" said Kinara, "Call me if you need anything" she said again before stepping out.
"Well, thank you," Alex said.
Doctor Ana nodded at a glance as Kinara walked past her. "How are you doing?" he asked after being sure Kinara had left.
"Pretty good."
Doctor Ana reviews the smile. "good. Really good," he replied as he pulled some equipment out of the bag he was carrying.
"Even so, we must continue to do regular checks to prevent the onset of complications or other symptoms that are more dangerous."
Alex approaches and lets Ana's doctor cover her body with a variety of tools. He did whatever the genius woman before him ordered. However, when a syringe is removed from his container, Alex chooses to turn his face away. Three months of facing the same ritual is indeed an easy matter. Although all this treatment has made him manage to walk as usual, still he felt sick of seeing syringes.
"I'll take this blood sample and check it in the lab. This is the final check. I'll tell you right away" Ana's doctor said as he rubbed a cotton swab that had been given alcohol on the injection marks, "Seeing from your current ability, we don't need to do any more therapy. You just have to keep working on your own muscle and bone strength at home."
Alex nodded to recite. He knew all the drugs and therapeutic methods used by Ana doctors were not the same as the drugs used by doctors in general. Therefore, a series of tests and supervision still have to be done. After all, if he is treated with standard health procedures, it is certain that until the day of his permission he is still dependent on a wheelchair. So when Ana's doctor finished tidying up her equipment, Ales thrust his hand towards the woman.
"Thank you, Doctor," said Alex with a look full of earnestness.
Ana's doctor glued for a moment to see Alex's actions. As long as he took care of the man, never once had he seen the man behave like this. Alex's actions like this really make him touched even though healing the man is his duty and responsibility.
"Together," replied Ana's doctor, shaking Alex's hand, "An Honor to me."
"I've sent some money to your bank account, just say it if it's less."
Doctor Ana chuckles. "To be honest, I don't want money. You can pull it back."
Alex's eyebrows linked to hearing the confession. "Then, what do you want?"
"Let me join the base. Give me the authority to experiment in the lab. I guarantee you won't let you down."
Alex smiled knot. "Are you sure you want to trade all that money for the lab? You haven't even checked your account."
"no need. I really don't need that money. The savings I have are more than enough to buy the Caribbean islands" Ana replied confidently.
Alex snorted and showed off a mocking smile. Actually, he also wanted to ask Dr. Ana to work for him. That woman's talent and abilities were too great to let go. Such a rare skill would be a very useful asset in the future.
"Alright, Billionaire. Give this to the officer standing guard at the entrance. They'll take you to your room" Alex said, handing out a small red sheet of paper to Ana's doctor.
"Thank you," said Ana's doctor, receiving the rectangular-shaped paper with a crisp face. He put it in his pocket, then took his bag and prepared to come out.
"See you at headquarters."
Doctor Ana nodded respectfully then walked towards the door.
After Ana's doctor died, Alex reached for his phone and sent a message to speed dial number 03.
