The Colorful Work World

The Colorful Work World
Ch. 1 Graduation

...Ray Story's...

Introduce my name Ray. Ordinary students come from Banten who studied in the student city of Jogjakarta. Like most students, today is the day we have been waiting for. For 4 years we fought to get to this point. That day was graduation day.

KKN, Work Practice, SKS, and Thesis I have been through it all to get to this point. After completing all the requirements of the Document, I announced this joyous news to my beloved parents. Since the distance of the hometown with the campus was quite far, I used the phone to inhabit them.

"Sort of..sort of." I managed to connect with my mother's phone, just waiting for her to pick up the phone from me.

"Hello son, what's wrong? Tumben called this date?" I'm used to calling on weekends and early months. This date is a date I rarely call them. Fortunately they answered my phone.

"I want to tell you, ma'am, that my graduation date has been set." Hearing my words, the voice behind the phone was very clear I heard. My mother immediately informed the person in the house of this happy news.

"Congratulations son, later insyaallah all the families will go to accompany at graduation"

"Yes Mom, I look forward to the arrival of my father, mother, and all my sisters"

My family consists of father, mother, and 4 siblings. I was the first child to become the brother of three of my sisters. My mom and dad worked as private employees while all my sisters were still in school.

My first sister was still in college, the second sister was still Junior High and the third sister was in elementary school.

We talked for a few minutes to tell each other the news. Understandably because we rarely meet, so the news of the family only I know from the phone. The direct meeting can only be done during Lebaran or college semester holidays.

Before graduation day, there were still some things I had to sort out. Starting from the list of graduations, toga loans, to the clean gladi of graduation events. In order for H day later no one makes mistakes so there must be practice first.

Graduation is usually done simultaneously all study programs and majors in one time during the event building load. If it is not enough, the next graduate will get a graduation schedule in another period. For my own prodding, informatics engineering, this time passed 10 people who happened to be mostly from the same generation as me. I'll have a conversation partner later.

"Hey Ray, listen to your graduation, congratulations!!" Message from one of my friends who saw the list of graduates for this period. We have the same hobbies and also one generation so we often chat about stories from movies that we like.

"Yes, you know where? Thank you, yeah." I answered briefly through the Lime messaging app.

After that, we chatted for a few minutes before I resumed my activities.

*Some days later*

Has arrived on Graduation Day. I met my parents for a while yesterday. Because they were up to a day before graduation. But I didn't sleep with them because my home was far enough away from campus. So that I spend the night at my boarding house which I have occupied for 4 years so as not to be late.

The morning after dawn I had already reached the event building starting. The possibility of bad luck is quite minimal because the graduation this time was held during the month of Ramadan. So that if you wake up for sahur, you should not be late to the event.

A little envy arises because my friends are already at great. I heard from my friends who graduated first getting jobs to big companies. I myself have not been able to work part-time outside the campus so I wonder what the world of work will be like.

I don't feel like graduation time has started. I found my parents sitting near our entrance so I met them as we marched into the hall of the building. The event went well but I was a bit sleepy on an empty stomach due to fasting and a lot of welcome. The afternoon finally finished the show. Before I go home with my parents, I say goodbye to photos with friends first.

"Congratulations bro, you're finally graduating too." Said one of my friends, Putu. We have been friends since the beginning of college until now. We often help in college and personal matters.

"Congratulations, this is a parcel from us." My junior also gave me some encouragement. He was my first student in religious studies. But because we have the same hobby, we are still familiar today. He's a year younger than me so he might graduate next year.

"Thank you, I hope you pass too soon, Steady."

After talking to other friends. I said goodbye because I felt sorry that my parents waited too long. From the Graduation event we went straight home to Grandma's house in the city because the body was tired and we waited for breaking the fast together there.

Unfortunately I did not have time to book a photo studio because it was too late. The whole place was booked and I didn't capture the graduation moment through the Service studio. Just a photo from the campus and HP potluck.

"Why don't you book a place, son?" My mother protested because we did not capture this moment in the form of a photo.

"I didn't have time Mom, after all I'm tired because today is still fasting." Answer my question from my mother. Although a bit sad because there was no photo session, but my mother understood that.

"How son? Do you want to find a job in Jogja first? Or go back to Banten?"

"I plan to find a job here first Mom, then maybe later if I can't I'll go back to Banten."

My mom is a bit against finding a job in Jogja. Because the UMR for this region is small so my mother is worried that it will be difficult to save later. My goal is still to stay here because there are still many friends here and there are some colleagues who invite business together. I hope I can get a job here.

"Where did you apply for a job?"

My mother asked me about my plans in the future. Because later there is no income from parents so I have to immediately find a job to get money. I'm talking about all the plans I'm going to do in the next month.

"Yes my son, if you want that. I can only wish you the best."

"Thank you, Mom."

With my mother's support I became excited to start my new life tomorrow.
