Ch. 47 Repairing Computer Lab

Before getting information about job vacancies in Tangerang. I did a job that made me stay for a few nights. This task can not be done quickly if only alone.

I helped Mr. Dani and the other staff to fix the PC that would be used for practice exams and national exams.

Because now the exam model must be computer-based (CBT). The school should provide a computer or laptop for students to use. If the device did not exist, the students would not be able to take the exam.

There are certainly advantages and disadvantages in this CBT method. Especially from the problem of school devices and networks. Imagine if the school does not have a computer or adequate network. It's gonna bother, right?

But there are certainly advantages too. The cost of printing is reduced so there will be cost efficiency. It also reduces the risk of tearing or computer-unreadable test sheets. After all, today everything must slowly shift towards digital.

Remembering myself when I was in my school exams. That era was a rather tumultuous national test. Because the exam schedule had to retreat due to questions that had not come. In addition, the answer sheets of existing computers are very thin. When parsing LJK it is always confused whether it is black enough or not. But also horrified if forced to black again. Fear of tearing the paper or hole.

Luckily I graduated well in that moment. But for now, CBT has come into force. Nowadays, we have to get used to computers. You should at least know how to type on a computer and print documents. Supposedly now at a low price, we can get a laptop or computer with a makeshift spec.

Back to fixing the computer. There's a lot we have to fix. Starting from making sure the computer turns on properly and correctly. Then install the necessary applications for the test. Do not forget to arrange the computer in the lab neatly.

From this stage alone we have found some problematic computers. Because there is no routine check of lab equipment. It was like this. There are many computers that need to be repaired.

This repair process could not be like magic with a single swinging stick all completed. Should be slowly corrected one by one. This is what makes the activity run long, especially if only a few people do it.

Sometimes there are computers that are fast, there are also those that are fussy and take a long time to be repaired. There was also something completely damaged and we had to replace it with another computer.

Fortunately, Mr. Dani, who is responsible for this, has prepared everything. It gives enough time to make repairs this time.

*Some days ago*

"Sir Ray, not busy?" Said Mr. Dani while patting my shoulder.

"Sir Dani, what's wrong?"

"Look. Soon there will be a national exam and ukom. Could you ask him for help repairing a LAN laboratory computer? We have a shortage of people sir"

Mr. Dani explained the situation. When I heard the explanation, I decided to be willing to help. It seems interesting and can learn a lot about computer services as well.

Even though I'm from computer school. I'm more focused on software engineering and web programmers. Not very good at hardware.

The assumption of the wrong person is to think that IT can be everything. Can design, can actually laptop, and everything smells of IT otherya.

Just like medical science has specialists. It's the same as that. Maybe some people can do a lot of things. But there are also those who can only do one type but are good.

Don't ask too much of IT. Unless the payment is worth it. You have to take care of a variety of technologies but the salary is small.

At night we just started computer repair. I've gone home first to put things down and then go back to school.

Of course with the state of having an afternoon shower and changing clothes more relaxed. Unlike when teaching using a long-sleeved shirt and then wearing pantofel shoes.

This time I was just wearing ordinary sandals. This is not an official event. There was no watchdog to check whether I was wearing shoes or not.

The atmosphere of school at night is very different from the morning. School is worse than usual.

That's why we have to make sure the number of computers in accordance with the rules of the exam that apply. If not wrong the number should be 20 PCs then 2 laptops as a backup.

If there are less components, usually pack Dani who directly search in another lab that excess device or message from the outside.

I checked the computer they were not holding. Although I am less good at assembling, but actually I am very happy about this. Especially after knowing that the price of a PC is cheaper than buying a laptop.

Maybe because I went to college too often to see ROG's laptop, so I wanted to have one. But when I entered the workforce, I chose to raft PC only because it is more economical.

While repairing the computer, I started a conversation with Mr. Dani.

Suddenly came to the lab a security guard who was on guard. I don't know why he rampaged unclear and scolded Mr. Dani.

Yesterday Mr. Dani often helps students to do assignments until late at night. Sometimes there are students too. This makes the security guard misunderstand.

We have not yet explained, he immediately went back to his post after being satisfied with anger. We who were in the room could only put on confused faces and stare at each other.

Mr. Dani had wanted to escape but we managed to prevent it. Because there are still many accreditation tasks that we have to work on.

In the morning, we made a report on this to the principal. Since then, he has never returned to do the same.

"Fortunately Mr. Dani did not come home, there are still many tasks fitting it." I answered while laughing.

Not full all night our computer service. Sometimes we wait for the application to be installed. There is also a moment of rest for coffee and eating snacks.

Some nights we do this until all the computers are in order. In the morning, sometimes I have permission to teach. Sometimes it also continues to continue until the body is no longer able to move.

The last day we fixed the computer, everyone in the lab cried out in delight at successfully doing this pretty strenuous task. Hopefully, the computer practice exam and the national exam can run smoothly. Surely I am also looking forward to what payment I will get after doing this.
