While receiving the APD shirt, I was silent for a while. Because it's the first time I've touched an PPE shirt that hasn't been opened yet.it's still neatly wrapped with the seal. It is different when opened and after use. I thought the PPE shirt was hung up like a shirt and there was a closet. It turns out to be wrapped in a box wrap like this, similar to what we get when we buy new clothes.
Bule Yeni looked at me and she taught my mom to wear APD while saying “Ray, this is how she wears it. It's a little hard on your own, but it's easy to know how.”
Hearing Bule yeni's words, I became refocused and looked closely at how to wear PPE. Starting from taking off my jacket first, because later long-sleeved PPE shirt. Then I put on the pants first. Just like the top, PPE pants are also a long size covering the legs.
Then also wear PPE cloth but for footwear. Only then double using shoes or sandals. The bottom is finished, now we're wearing top clothes. Similar when wearing a rain coat that is separate clothes and pants, more or less like that PPE shirt. But there is a rope that we tie to the back of our body. So that the full body part is covered by PPE.
Finally, the head uses a hood that connects from the shirt. Like a jacket. Then tied tightly with tape. Then the eyes are closed by using glasses similar to swimming glasses. Do not forget the double mask as a complement. Everything on the face must be covered with tape so that there is no gap into the body. This makes PPE clothing safe from viruses.
Do you know what happened after that? the body feels very hot. Stale because the breath must pass through many layers. Moreover, the body becomes very tight during the use of PPE. When I found out about this, I was very fond of the thumbs of the PPEs who were ready to examine patients wearing this shirt. I feel like I've only worn this shirt for half an hour. It is not imagined how great health workers can wear clothes like this for hours.
No wonder this makes some nurses face lately there is a former mask. The former appears due to the use of PPE with high frequency.
“All ready? Let's go inside” Bule Yeni said as she went towards the ICU entrance.
When we reached the entrance, Bule Yeni once again reminded us to adhere to health protocols and also what we can and should not do in the ICU. Anyway, it should be the same doctor who if later goes there.
We both nodded then followed Bule Yeni who went inside. From the entrance, it turned out that the room where the father was located was quite close. It was only a few meters from the entrance. Until there, I could finally see the father closely, not from the CCTV.
I saw his face getting better when I saw the two of us. He seems very happy because we look. Seeing his condition like this, I felt sorry for him. Hopefully he will recover quickly and our arrival can accelerate it to happen.
“Ah..ahh” I look trying to say something but his voice can not come out.
Right said Bule Yeni. Because he was wearing a breathing apparatus, he found it difficult to speak. Just the sound of screaming and whatever words you let out we can not hear clearly. Bule Yeni offered to give stationery and paper to write down what he wanted to say. But the father refused and tried to speak with his own mouth, but failed continuously.
During the visit, I said many things to my father and gave encouragement. Holding the hand of her beloved husband. Looking at him I could only shed tears and hold one other father's hand which was still empty. We spent a few minutes quietly listening to the voice of our mother talking to our father. I was just talking at the right moment, not too much.
“Hmmm..ehmmm” Father groaned while shaking his head. He didn't want us to go home and stay here.
Seeing that, the mother was worried but remained steadfast to go home. Because we also visited need to rest. It is not only my father who is currently ill in my family. There are also my sisters who still need supervision from us.
“No papa sir. We say goodbye first. We will look again.”
After a few minutes of negotiation, the father finally agreed to let us go home. Before going to the car, we removed the PPE shirt first in the nurse's room. Unlike before when wearing it, removing it is easier. Because there is no need to be careful to remove it, the PPE that has been used is directly thrown into the trash.
PPE should have difficulty, because the use only once or several times use. Luckily the stock is now improved so that covid patients can still be handled properly. Once the PPE is released, we wash our hands with soap so that no viruses and bacteria remain.
We finally came out of the nurse's room after all her body was clean. Then we went back to the car to go home. When he arrived at the parking lot, Bule Yeni told us.
“Thank you for tea, Ray. Already want to come. Later if kang xxx there is nothing. I contact deh.”
“Alright, thank you yes Yeni. please take care of kang xxx well.”
After leaving, we returned to C to rest. A total walk can be half a day exhausted on the road from the bogor back to the house back and forth. It is tired, but to visit my beloved father, it is not a problem that we experience this. Because we want you to recover quickly, hopefully after being looked at. His health condition will improve.
But, apparently, destiny says something else. There are things that make us waste when the father is treated. Starting from he needs a donor to wash the blood, then the father refused to be installed hose, until there was an issue that the nurse did not take care of the father properly until Bule Yeni omelin.
These bad news made those of us at home even more worried. That's why we go back and forth more often to Bogor. This also makes the car we use requires a lot of repair. Starting from the spooring of the car to have to change the gears. Not only that, we also have to spend a lot of money for the treatment of the father.
This situation continued for 3 weeks until finally..My father is no longer with us.
