‘Bismillah’ Before starting to go to the test building, I pray first. After my mentality was ready, I said goodbye to my father who was still in the car waiting for me. There's no way he's suddenly saying that. I can panic later.
“Depart first om, doain smoothly testnya”
“Of course Ray, om will pray everything smoothly”
I nodded then went across to my destination. From our car park, I still have to walk a few minutes. Because the car should not be parked into the company.
All vehicles must use a special parking card. I see from the front the security of this place is quite good. Very interesting, it feels like an office in the movies, entering must use a card.
“Mission sir, I was the one who wanted to test work”
“Oh yes sir, please come in. Direct to reception desk ya”
The security guard had met when looking for a parking lot earlier, so I just need to excuse myself to go inside. When I look from the outside, the building doesn't look big. From the front it is already seen this building has many floors.
But how surprised I turned out even though from the front is not wide, but the building is long enough to get to the back.
I pretended to be calm-faced because I didn't want to look like a villager. Then slowly I went towards the receptionist at the venue. Surely while looking back and forth and paying attention to all sides of this floor.
“Excuse me mbak, for a work test in which direction ya?”
“Good sir, please go up through the stairs in then sit in the waiting room.” Said the receptionist while pointing towards the stairs.
After saying thank you, I went in the direction that the receptionist pointed at. It's a really great office, the receptionist is just gorgeous. On clear all here. For some reason when seeing a beautiful girl in person, the body immediately auto panic. Hopefully we can get used to it later.
When I reached the waiting room, there were a few seats available. I occupy an empty seat while opening the phone to learn about this company even further. The other participants also seemed to have been waiting here.
I saw their clothes were all average good. However, it is still semi-formal and mostly uses shirts and shoes. Fortunately, the costume I was wearing was proper.
No one wears a suit, but maybe someone uses an expensive watch. I won't realize it because I don't like wearing watches.
“For test takers, please come with me to koal” After waiting a few minutes, finally the test supervisor has arrived. I made sure no items were left behind before standing up and following the supervisor.
The room we went to was a room with transparent glass as a wall. Similar to the office space you see in western movies. From nature we can see the outdoor conditions, and vice versa. Therefore the likelihood of a crime will decrease.
On the way I saw another room being used. Miraculously the voice from within was not heard at all. There seems to be soundproofing in this room as well. When we entered the room, we all sat where we wanted. Sitting position is not set. Participants are free to sit anywhere as long as it has not been occupied by others.
I started a small conversation with my exam-side friend.it turned out that he was from a faraway place, Cirebon to be more precise. This guy came here by train. It's great that the fight can get here.
He would also take the exam elsewhere, truly an enterprising person to find a job. In terms of spirit, I also cannot lose to this person. You have to fight with all your heart.
“Please fill out this test according to the instructions. The working time is 180 minutes. Each test will have its own time. When the time is up, the test paper will be taken and then replaced by the next test. Please do the test in 3...2...1... Start!”.
It is true according to the supervisor, this exam lasts for approximately 3 hours. I don't know how much paper he took and redistributed. I may have passed about 5 or more exams.
Luckily the pen I brought with me was not finished. I also had time to lend my pen to the participants beside me. It was indeed the right decision to bring the stationery on the exam this time around.
Only the sound of a pen was heard throughout the session. The committee also firmly watched over us one by one. But I see he also sometimes see his phone, maybe to see if there is contact from superiors or clients. Because companies like this definitely require fast and precise performance. When working hours, each employee must stand by and respond quickly when called.
None of the participants were doing strange things, let alone trying to chat. Everyone focused on doing the test in plain sight. Because there are many things that must be filled while the time is not too much.
“Tes finished, please have lunch break then come back here to do interview test.”
‘Finally Beres also’ I stretched first then slowly out of the room.
Since I didn't know the other participants, I chose to find a place to eat first. After finding out the location of the dining room from the receptionist, I immediately went to that place. I don't want to be late for an interview because of lunch.
Before eating I also told my om to look for lunch by myself. He was afraid to wait for lunch together. This time I ordered a simple lunch, there was rice then a potluck side dish.
After finishing eating and waiting for the stomach contents to go down, I immediately headed for the nearest mushola. At first I thought I should get into the elevator. It turns out that the elevator is also the same as parking, can only be used by employees. Each elevator requires an employee card to use. Fortunately there is a public elevator that we can use to the parking lot and mosque.
I'm trying to reduce my existence for fear of offending the people here. Because I don't know the customary work environment here. Worrying that someone is easily offended. The journey to the mosque from the elevator is not long, just a few minutes.
Mushola office despite being in the basement, quite cool with the AC and clean conditions. I see the mosque marbod is very active working here. It is very convenient to worship in this place. Had been afraid of obscurity and even overslept so comfortable.
After finishing the service, I returned to the waiting room for the next test. Every minute I spent preparing for the interview.
*Some minutes later*
“Pak Ray, please enter the hall” My name was called by the test committee.
“Ready!” I said boldly as I entered the interview room.
When I finished lunch, I saw a lot of people coming in and out of the interview room. There was no sound heard from inside the room, only the movement of them doing the talking.
Unlike the test in Jogja, I did not dare to ask about the experience of the interview inside, so I just steal to hear it. Because I don't know the people here.
“Please sit Ray” sir I just sat down after welcome to do so.
Unlike the time in Jogja, this time the interview is a beautiful young woman. I wondered if this was one of the exams as well, fortunately I had already learned the science to do a good interview and looked in the right direction.
“Include yourself?” The interviewer begins his task.
Standard questions are used to start the interview. A steady self-introduction is a mandatory requirement to pass all interviews. But do not overuse standard self-recognition and do not overdo it.
Make sure what you are talking about is fact. They will definitely see our movements if they try to lie. Unless you're smart to play.
After that there was a document check and many questions were thrown at me. I try to answer the questions as best I can. But there is a question that I may have answered wrongly, which is about what my shortcomings are.
I plainly replied that I lacked discipline. Actually when viewed. Among others, I was arguably the most disciplined and punctual. Gathering at 10 o'clock comes must be right at that hour. Can't be ngaret. This is what I always use in my daily life.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for regret. Rice has become porridge. I continued to answer the other questions as best I could.
The interview lasted not too long, maybe only about 30 minutes. The interview officer as usual only gave directions to wait for the announcement to come into the email. I can only wait until the time comes. After parting in a good way, I returned to where my om had been waiting.
“It's done om, let's go home” I replied with a feeling of relief has finished the test.
“You want to take a walk first, Ray? another mumpung in Tangerang?”
I shook my head and refused my uncle's invitation. Because if it becomes a walk, of course all the costs later I'm the gig. Moreover, my body is also tired after doing two tests so I can't wait to fall on the mattress.
The journey was safe and I got home. Not to forget I also give wages to my om, gasoline on the way also I pay. Fortunately, there is still money from my job as a teacher. Whatever salary we have, we must get used to saving. At least that's what my mother taught me.
And don't forget to manage our finances. Do not let the income be greater than the expenditure. That is one of the causes of the catastrophe of life.
After a short conversation with both parents and a break with playing games, I slept well tonight on a soft bed. Trying not to think about the test I just took.
*Some weeks later*
“the result is the same as yesterday” I sighed after seeing the announcement that reached to the email.
A few days after the test, I got an apology from the softhouse. More or less I have not had the opportunity to work there. But my spirit has not faded, I will definitely get a job in a decent place.
Believe that someone has arranged everything for us. With a burning spirit, I continued my activities as a professional teacher. This incident can't make me limp. Instead, it must be fuel for more spirit in the future.
