Ch. 15 Post UTS

For one week the midterms passed. Every day more or less I along with the committee do the same task. Enter from the morning to take care that the exam runs smoothly and conducive. Until the afternoon we were able to go home after all the students had done their exams.

But not just up there. We also have to give the envelope that already contains the question and answer sheet to the teacher concerned. Then keep an eye on the student who wants the follow-up exam. Because they cannot be present on the day of the exam. It could be because they are sick, or permission because they are following PKL. That is what has led to our work as a committee more and more.

PKL itself is one of the events that SMK students must do before they graduate. Usually they have to look for companies that are willing to be where they do this activity. PKL is often also called an internship, or you who have been to college should also carry out what is called KP. More or less the way they work together.

Back to the exam. After the examination was over, the disciple had already become a little relieved. But they are also still stubborn because they wait for the results of their exams. Unlike the students who started slow, the current teacher just started a hassle. Because they have to proofread all the answer sheets that students are working on. No exception for me as a new teacher is inseparable from this task.

Just imagine, if to correct the answer sheet takes 5 minutes for each student. So if we teach as many as 100 students, the time that will be used is 500 minutes to correct their answers. Approximately 8 hours to make the correction. Coupled with teaching hours that can not be reduced because after UTS immediately began teaching and learning activities as usual.

Especially for one subject. If the teacher teaches another subject. The automatic answer sheets that they have to correct will add up. This is the most time spent as a teacher.

This is what makes me troubled because I am still not used to correcting exams like this. One by one I corrected the work of the students. They've all been trying to do this well. As a good teacher, I have to assess their hard work in earnest.

“Eh, sir Ray, still correcting the test results?” One of the teachers came to me with coffee and sat down next to me.

“Iya nih sir. There are a lot of test sheets. It takes time to finish. This is me chirping bit by bit”

We chatted for a while as I corrected the exam. The teacher gave me a suggestion. This can be done if there is no time to correct.

“Pak Ray, than bother so. It is better to ask the student for multiple-choice correction. Father stay check the essay”

Listen to this information. I began to ask the senior a lot about this. I could hear someone doing this. But because I was still in doubt, I chose not to. After all I still have the energy and energy to make their exam correction.

While correcting the test results, I also have to still teach. The funny thing is, every time I go to class after UTS. All the students ask this.

“Mr, how was the result of UTS yesterday? we want to see”

“Yes sir, I stayed up late to study for the test. Must be good value, right?”

That's what happens to every class I teach. They wanted to know immediately how much their exam scores were. I can only laugh a little and answer honestly that the exam correction has not been completed.

Unfortunately, due to time and other issues. I decided to take advice from my senior teacher. Ask students for help with multiple-choice corrections.

Because I teach two classes with the same major. I switched their classes and let them correct the work of the other classes. Fearing that there would be fraud if I let them correct the results of their own class.

Nearly half of the study hours are up to correct the exam. The rest of the time I use to continue the material. This activity continued for one week after UTS. I felt relieved after successfully finishing correcting their tasks. Share the results with the students.

Seeing their reaction, inevitably I could only laugh. Some of them are happy with their good grades. The other students were sad because their grades were low below standard. There are also other students who protest why the value is bad. Funny thing is no one protests that their grades are good.

After you have finished distributing the UTS value to students. I reminded them not to let the sheet contain missing values. Even though I've recorded it in the absences book, it's safer that they also have a backup to report that there are protests at the end of the semester.

“Eh, sir Ray. I think he has finished his task correction?” Mr. Dani came along with two of his classmates who helped bring him a notebook. Looks like they brought books from their homework.

“Alhamdulilah, yes sir finished. Stay waiting “itu” come”

“Quiet sir Ray, sure get it good. Mr. Ray will be the committee for UTS this time”

The task of being a committee must get a commission. It is impossible for us to work more but not get more rewards as well. Fortunately the school still gives a commission for UTS activities this time. That's fine, adding to the pocket money.

But still, the salary of teachers who have not entered UMR certainly makes teachers rack their brains more to regulate their spending. Some are part-time work with sales, some are more economical in production. Luckily I was single and not married. The cost of living I need is not much. I also live with my parents.

However, no matter how much money we receive. Still have to be grateful, because there could be people who are worse than our fate. We never know, there may be a family that in a day only eats once because it needs money. Or it could be worse. Therefore when we have more money, do not be wasteful and the rest we have to tube and give to alms to people who are less able.

Although the amount is not much, the important thing is that our intention is good for alms in a good way. The left hand should not know whose right hand love is to whom. It means we must be alms but should not be many people who know.Fear will cause us to be arrogant so as to make our alms activities become unfaithful.

My parents were also happy with the commission I got and always reminded me to love saving. Because it saves the rich base. Little by little, it will become a hill. It doesn't matter how much we save. If you are used to preparing a reserve fund. We will not panic if suddenly we need funds. Emergency funds are important to always be there and do not let us use this emergency fund.

After UTS, lessons return to normal by teaching each class and extracurriculars. Uniquely I also get the mandate to become an exkul web programming teacher. Because when I went to college this was what I did. Hopefully there will be students who will get into this exkul. It's funny that there are students who don't have any at all. Hopefully it won't happen to the school I taught.

Making a schedule for the exculpation is also quite difficult. We have to adjust the schedule we have, as well as empty classrooms that we can use. No wonder sometimes there is a commotion when there is no empty class. Empty classrooms are limited.  In fact, that's one of the causes of students getting an entry schedule morning and afternoon.
