The Colorful Work World

The Colorful Work World
The First 4 Days of Teaching

Today is monday. After being busy taking care of various things ranging from the items I will carry, to the clothes I will wear. I was finally ready to go to school. Because I teach. The clothes I wear are long-sleeved shirts with formal shoes.

The journey from school to home is not too far away. By using a motorcycle, approximately only about 5 minutes if speeding and 10 minutes for a normal trip. Because the distance is only about 1.5km. Right now I still use my mother's motorcycle so it's a little awkward when I use it.

When I get to school. I was quite surprised to see many students walking to and fro. Some go to school, some chat with friends in the corner. Do not forget those who are having breakfast and snacks to the food stalls around. School has been busy since morning. I greeted the security guard when I entered the school and parked my bike in the parking lot for staff and teachers.

I nervously stepped into the teacher's room. The place is quite easy to reach. The school's teacher's room is located just close to the entrance gate. So no trip there is not too far. My school building is quite small, with an area of maybe not up to 500 meters. But this building has 3 floors so there are many rooms in it.

“assalamaicum”

“waalaikumsalam”

When I entered the room and greeted the people inside. Many people returned my greetings. It seems like all the teachers here are of the same religion. I immediately asked the teacher nearest the former teacher's desk before I sat down.

“Oh, sir Ray yes. Welcome then. The teacher's desk before you was there. But there may be a change of seat position to change the atmosphere.”

“ok”

I went to my seat. Around the seat were all women. After chatting for a while with them, I helped move necessary and unnecessary items. The items that are still needed will be stored and the trash will all be thrown away.

*haah*

After a few minutes I helped clean things up. I started to sit down for a short break. A teacher came and gave me a glass of water in front of my eyes.

“Hallo, you're the new teacher huh? When did you graduate college?”

This teacher looks quite young, maybe he is not yet 30 years old. He wears glasses and has a thin body but not too high. Not too short either. He has an aura that is friendly enough that I am excited to talk to him.

“Just graduated this year, in May yesterday.”

“Oh, means we are the same dong. I also just graduated.”

He graduated in the same year as me. But judging from the age, it looks like he worked first just to college, maybe also college while working. Unlike me who just focus on college without doing anything else.

The teacher was named Dian. He has been teaching at this school for a long time. The material he teaches is multimedia. The science that teaches us how to create multimedia products such as photos and videos. I am not very good at this so I can ask Mr. Dian a lot for this.

“Pak Ray substitute teacher who yesterday came out huh?”

“iya sir, just a replacement until the principal finds a new teacher”

We continued the conversation, until a staff member gave us a paper with a teaching schedule for today.

“ok, thank you ya”

I'm so nervous because it's pretty impromptu. When I saw the theme for the material I was going to teach, it had nothing to do with the computer world. That theme is “How to use time effectively.” Like MOS elsewhere. It seems that MOS material contains mostly soft skills to provide basic supplies to students to learn in the future.

With the time I tried to find some things about the material this time. Because the time I get is quite a lot, 30 minutes. I had to find enough and effective material to fill that schedule.

The time for teaching has come. One of the members of the sausage came to take me to the class I was going to teach. Since I was the new teacher, he asked the other teacher where I was sitting. Lately I have known that this member of OSIS has occupied the 12th grade so that soon it will stop carrying out this exculus activity.

I put on a cool face to hide the nervousness I had. Unlike the other teachers, my experience in teaching was minimal. I think this is the first time I've ever taught a lot of students. I usually only teach one to two people. Fortunately, I taught to some of my underclassmen in college. But the number is still far from the class I currently belong to.

*tap* *tap*

“Assalamualaikum Wr's. Wb”

“waakaikumsalam Wr's. Wb.”

I walked into the class and greeted all the students. Because this school mostly has the religion of Islam, so salamku adjust to the adherents of the most religion in this school. I see that the student in front is very excited to learn something new. Unlike the students who are in the back row have spirit as well but do not feel the same as the students in front. Maybe it was because my position was too far away that I did not feel their spirit.

I wear glasses so I don't get used to seeing things that are far away. That's why I don't see the face of the student behind the class. After finishing the greeting I read a glimpse of the book that was on the teacher's desk. It turned out that it was the material that would be delivered in the meeting this time. Strange enough because if the material has been written for what I say again? Each student reads by themselves, right?

But I think it is less effective because there could be some things that students misunderstand when reading the material. I finally explained the material with an additional interpretation of the material that I got.

“till here no question”

Cryic

After I finished delivering the material I gave a question and answer session time. Usually for this session of 30 minutes, there is 10 minutes for a question and answer session. If there are active students, this is a good time for students to ask. But either all classes are like this or because today it is still MOS. Students are embarrassed to ask questions.

That's why I give them a little advice until the time I have runs out. When I finished teaching, I gave a signal to the OSIS chairman to take over the class and I left the class.

“Alhamdulilah”

After I finished teaching I returned to the teacher's room. Because it was quite tense after teaching, I took a break while looking at the entertainment in my phone. Unfortunately my HP is quite potato so that the experience I get is less than the maximum. I could only sigh and start reading just about any book that was on the table.
