The Colorful Work World
Ch. 61 Visiting the Father 3

A few minutes after walking from the front door of the hospital, I finally reached my father's room in the hospital. Luckily he did not enter the ICU room, so we were free to come over to take care of him. If you get in there, we will find it difficult to visit and meet directly with you.

Not only the father, most patients in the hospital are usually accompanied by family members or close relatives. It is rare to be hospitalized alone. Even if it happens, surely people around will pity to see patients who are not accompanied by family. I don't want my father to experience something like that.

I wonder why it could happen because I myself have never been sick to be hospitalized. Even when I was in an accident, just self-care at the boarding house, not going to the hospital. Directly buy red medicine in the nearest indomaret and use the leaves as an herbal treatment, to quickly dry.

Because it's about manners and ethics when the family is sick I don't understand. I need to learn this from now on. On the way to the father's room, I saw nurses, doctors, and security guards. The hospital never rests. They have to work 24 hours. Respect for their performance by health workers.

They implemented a morning and night shift system. So that every time, the hospital has officers who stand by, fearing something happens to the patient. Because of the lives of people who know. Usually only nurses and security personnel do this. These two officers usually monitor their patients for 24 hours.

For doctors and other specialist officers only visit and check the patient according to a predetermined schedule. Because if they do not have rest and take care of the patient continuously, their body can be tired later. If they are tired, they are afraid that they can be wrong in diagnosing patients. That's more or less what I know in general about hospital performance.

Moreover, I heard that medical personnel in Indonesia have not been spread evenly. There are several areas, especially the interior. There is still a shortage of health workers. Because it is rather difficult to transport to the place. Especially where there are people who are willing to go far just to treat patients on the outskirts of the area.

Only an amazing doctor would do that. I salute anyone who is willing to sacrifice for the country. Because I was the only one who was once an unsung hero, gave up on the road and chose to become a programmer. The main reason is because of the lack of income.

If the salary of teachers in Indonesia increases, it is possible that the world of Indonesian education will progress rapidly. But that is only one factor, there are still teachers who teach well even though their income is not how much.

‘Oh, think what the hell. Focus Ray focus. After knocking on the door and entering the room. You must be patient and not to use a hard tone with a sick father.’ After eliminating the less important thoughts and taking a long breath. I started knocking on the door.

*tok tock*

“Assalamualaikum” I said while opening the door.

“Waalaikumsalam” Voice reply from indoors.

I see this room has two beds. One of my fathers was occupied, the other one was worn by another patient. After giving a light greeting to my neighbor, I continued walking inside.

This room is quite narrow, maybe only about 3x3 meters. Especially with the mattress, tv, and other medical equipment, making this room seem even narrower. His bed was at the end of the room. Close to the bathroom. I also saw my mother sitting next to my father and giving food to him.

It seems that when you are sick, you prefer to eat while being bribed by your mother. Hehehe, like a child. I saluted my father and mother and kissed their hands.

“I came to see you. This is mah, nasi uduk mamah order.”

“Thanks ya nak” Say mom while taking one rice sit and put it on the table.

“Sama-sama bu” I looked at the father then said “Father how are the conditions, already mendingan?”

“Alhamdulilah. Dad was quiet, yesterday.” He began to recount the chronology of himself entering the hospital.

I heard it from my mom over the phone. But it never hurts to hear it directly from your mouth. It seems that the main cause is a duck that is eaten when going to bogor. Then the sleeping position of the father during the trip home to Cilegon is wrong so that it makes the hands tremble and cramp.

Arriving home, Yana and Lamda immediately greeted me. Because they're hungry. In the spirit they charged food for this time.

“Mas, where's breakfast. I am already hungry” Lamda said as he thrust his hand to ask for food.

My sister is very much eating. Seen from his quite plump posture. So happy to eat, sometimes even though it has eaten rice with side dishes. He still continues to snack on pop noodles, cereals, or glass noodles. I don't know if he knows the term fullness or not.

After finishing preparing breakfast. I went back to rest because it seemed like the journey was much more tiring than I thought.

*Justice of Day*

I woke up and cleaned my body and prayed. After the prayer, I saw my mother giving a message through wa.

“Nak, order online only yes for lunch. The rice later you just cook for people who are at home” Short message mom entered during lunch time.

After reading the message I immediately ordered a meal for 3 people. While waiting for the side dish to come, I also cooked rice with rice cooker. My experience of boarding for 4 years is not in vain. Cooking rice has become my daily habit. When I was spending time in Tangerang, I also planned to buy a small rice cooker in the near future.

After lunch, I returned to the hospital with Aunt Yeni. Because he was a doctor, he also examined the condition of the father.

“Kang, this is a common disease. Fortunately, it is not bad. Akang should take care of his health again and reduce his cigarettes. Plenty of exercise and eating nutritious food.”

“Iya dek”

More or less that's the conversation they're having. Although aunt as a doctor has given a lot of advice. Either you will be able to obey him or not. Even if you can recede and be patient just do not smoke. At least your body will be healthier and fitter.

“Bapak, Ray came here in addition to visiting also want all farewell. Because tomorrow afternoon we will return to Tangerang. Monday is back.”

“Oh yes son, be careful on the road yes.”

After I finished saying my greetings, I went back to chatting with my father. Maybe because he was sick, the words of the father are not as usual. This is beneficial for me because at least at this moment. I can talk to my dad without getting too emotional.

By late afternoon, I paid to go home first because I had to contract. Even though I work in Tangerang. This task I still hold to this day. Because I don't want you to bother traveling around to collect the rent. Just take the money. Unfortunately, the payment I received was less in my personal opinion.

But I can't bear to ask for more. Because I know the family still has expenses. Because all my sisters are still in school. I am the only one who has worked and does not need to be supported by parents anymore.

It's possible that when spending out has decreased when all the younger siblings have worked, automatically I can ask for more rations from the contract. Because of course later after having a family, the needs I have become increased. Especially later if you already have children, add more spending.

But for now, consider it a matter of worship to help the family income. At least it can ease the burden of the mother even if only a little.
