The Colorful Work World

The Colorful Work World
Ch. 84 Changes Due to Pandemic

If we used to be busy in the morning to prepare for office, pandemics change all those habits. Now, in the morning we can still have free time to run the morning ritual.

When we wake up in the morning, we can be more relaxed to clean the house such as washing clothes, ironing, sweeping the yard, and other activities. Not as usual when I enter the office. We have to do the morning in a hurry.

When I go to school, I usually eat on the way. But when wfh, everything changed. I just order food and then get wrapped up to eat at home.

When working hours arrived, I immediately opened the laptop and prepared for a meeting today. When wfh like this, the meeting activities are carried out full online through the application available. Absolutely no face-to-face occurs offline during WFH.

This time, the meeting discussed an application that will be implemented more broadly. I also saw some new people I didn't know. Now I know his name but not his face. Because everyone's meeting with off camera.

During the meeting, only the voice and user name are visible. The video of the man is not on. Fortunately, I did not meet late this time. Because it was once a result of a difficult signal, I got late to the meeting room. Immediately Mr. Bem who saw it immediately wondered “Who is the new one coming in!?”. How shocked I am because the one who entered late was me because I stoke misfortune.

After the meeting, there is usually no more contact unless there is an urgent situation. The rest of the day I went through with the tasks I was given.

Then when the office hours came, all the work was closed and I did other activities to refresh and get through the day. Either by playing games, or by resting on a mattress. I rarely get out of contract. More or less that's what happens every day at wfh.

I'm actually the type who doesn't like to go out. Therefore, this method of working like WFH happens to be very suitable for me. Is there time at home? easy, just go to the mosque every prayer time. At a minimum, the wind from the outside world. Besides, I rarely go for a walk unless there is something to do.

When it has been several weeks in force, wfh is done continuously. In the end, my mother asked me to go home. Rather than being alone at home. That's more or less the word of mother. This was also mentioned in the previous chapter, but I will enter the details of the incident that occurred when I moved the contract.

According to my mother's words, I went straight home by car. Because the cost has not changed at all despite the pandemic.  Unlike the bus whose fare rises up to 2 times. From the information I got. Buses usually only pay 25,000 rupiah. Now it rises to 50,000 rupiah. Significant increase, right?

This is only natural because capacity is limited to 50 percent. Inevitably, the bus provider does not want to lose and must increase the cost of their travel services.

But even though the train did not board, their health protocols were well maintained. Everyone who enters must wear a mask and check his body temperature. Then the passengers should not be crowded while waiting or in the car.

I salute the performance of the railway officer. They are not tired of reminding train passengers to always comply with health protocols. After taking the KRL, I continued on the local train. How shocked I was when I got on the local train. The contents of the carriage changed completely.

Before the pandemic, passengers were free to enter and sit anywhere. There was no use of seat numbers and many people were standing inside the carriage. But when a pandemic occurs, the contents of the carriage become orderly. Each passenger must sit according to the ticket number written on it. There was no sight of anyone standing in the car. Perhaps this is also because the number of passengers using local trains is reduced due to pandemics.

This makes the train not look crowded and more comfortable. It was unexpected that I could enjoy a local train ride in the absence of passengers standing in the carriage. Getting off the train, I continued with the angkot then continued on foot.

I also saw how much everyone's behavior had changed. Nowadays, many people are obediently wearing masks. Although not all comply, at least the number of people who wear masks becomes more.

Since before the pandemic, I have been using a mask for a long time so there is actually nothing different from the habits that I do. I don't know why I also feel better when I see a lot of people wearing masks. Because judging from the pollution on the road, people should always use masks when traveling outside the house.

Arriving home, I took a break then went through work as usual the next morning. Because now the work is WFH, can work anywhere and anytime. Fortunately, this does not make us work outside of working hours. If it happens, it could be this body tremor.

But this wfh habit sometimes also causes irritation as well. Especially when the boss contacts many times because it asks for a report to be collected. Because they always send a chat from WA to immediately complete the task. Want to not want me to just be able to finish it immediately.

There was also a time when Boas requested an impromptu meeting outside the daily meeting hours. It really pisses me off every time I check wa's message from the boss or any other contact. I don't know why I dislike impromptu things the most. At least tell me an hour or two earlier. It's even better if you can give me the news one day before.

Fortunately, all of this worked well for a long time. When a pandemic occurs some fun and also sad moments appear in this time span..

This causes the position of the boss to be empty and I don't know who will replace the job of Pak Randy. Most likely office operations are held by others. I have to get used to the new work environment without Mr. Randy.

In addition to jobs, pandemics have also affected many sectors. Especially the transportation sector. For the month of Ramadan this time, the government forbids everyone to do homecoming. This is because the government is worried that there will be a surge in cases if homecoming is allowed to run.

Of course this makes many people bodo and insist to keep doing it. What can be done, this moment only happens once a year. Time yes just because of pandemic, everyone is forbidden to go home?

What is our power as a people. They can only obey the rules set by the government. Because the intention is good, to suppress the number of cases of this new disease. Even my grandmother also forbade us to go home because of this.

I personally have no influence on this. Because I don't like to go out of the house and work also on a WFH basis. So even though I didn't leave the house for weeks to months, I wasn't too stressed about it. Is there anyone like me?

Of course, I was a little upset that the cinema was closing, and that was one of the entertainment I was looking forward to. Moreover, there are some anime films that I can not watch because the cinema is closed. Want to not have to wait for a legal channel that will air it.

I can only wait for the government to issue new rules that can suppress the pandemic and improve the economic condition of our nation. Because not only our country, all countries are shocked by this pandemic and not many countries are really ready to face the pandemic. Even the WHO is overwhelmed by this one disease.

To reduce the burden of the government. As much as possible I reduce activities outside the home. But I can't at all get out. There must be a moment to go out like when looking for food and other daily necessities. At least I should go out for the rent, right?

"Bro, is Sunday night busy?"

"Why bro, would you like to collect?”

My friend laughed behind a cell phone and said, "Where is it, it's pandemic again. I'd like to meet online with the others."

"May, it will be arranged again yes, when the time will be"

Not only travel, communication in general has also begun to change. What we usually do offline. Now we can only meet online.

Fortunately, the times are sophisticated. With a camera phone and internet alone, we can talk to our friends who are out of town. This made my longing to chat with friends a little treatable.

Although it can not replace the thrill of gathering directly. But for now, this is a temporary solution for communication as long as you can not go out and meet many people.

Because if there is a wayward so go outside and force the gathering. Most likely he will be able to create a new outbreak cluster and can make many people difficult. Don't say it because only one person ignores it, the other person becomes a victim.

Not only are you guys restricted to gathering, everyone in Indonesia is experiencing the same thing. Come shoulder to shoulder and try to fight covid together.

Don't just blame the covid task force. This pandemic is our common problem. Can't just be the task force that takes care of it. The whole line of society can help overcome this in accordance with their respective abilities.

Indonesia can definitely win against covid!!!
