The Dawn 5: The Panda
“Cih, troublesome!” Nagato attracts animals who are victims of human discrimination. He took her away from Cape Missique.
Residents who threw stones at the animals were surprised to find nothing around them other than the wind that blew strong.
“Chibi! Is she a race with you?” Nagato threw the body of the animal he had saved violently.
“Nagato, as usual you always talk to me rudely! You don't care about me at all!” Chibi jumped up and was about to scratch Nagato's face, but in one jump, his neck was held easily by Nagato.
“Listen to Chibi, you were a witness to a time when my cousin's sister always inspired me. Compared to me, Litha is a great person. After she died, her dreams still inspired me and kept me going. Therefore, both of us will be out of this continent. Whatever happens we have to realize my sister's wish.” Finished saying so, Nagato also threw Chibi's body violently.
“I think he's a Beast. Chibi, come with me. Right now I'm more worried about the old man's condition!” Nagato walked calmly and clicked his tongue.
“Nagato, wait.” Chibi chases Nagato, and is shocked by the animal Nagato rescued.
“Wait!” The animal hugged Nagato's body from behind. Chibi looked at Nagato who immediately collapsed forward and put on a face that looked annoyed with a cold gaze looking back at the animal that was hugging him.
“Let go of me!” Nagato moved and blew away the body of the animal that was hugging him.
“Anu, thanks! I'm so scared! The outside world is so scary! The ocean is so terrible!” The animal continued to hug Nagato after being knocked down many times.
“I got stranded on the beach and they threw stones at me!”
The animal cried and still hugged Nagato's body from behind. It feels so annoying. That was what Nagato thought when the animal hugged him.
As his embrace grew tighter, Nagato walked towards the forest and away from the settlement. He leaned against a tree and pushed the body of the animal he had only seen for the first time in his life.
“Why don't you fight them? Aren't you a Beast, then it would all be easier to fight them!” Nagato held onto Kusanagi Sword and stared intently at the animal.
“My traveling companion Nekoya once said if a human hit you or insulted you, we must not retaliate. I thought if I didn't reply, then they would consider me to be a friend.”.
Hearing the animal's reply, Nagato widened his eyes. Friends are words he has not heard for a long time. Friends who had various stories with him were gone, one after another all left him, alone.
Seeing a rare living creature in his eyes, made Nagato curious about his condition. Actually seeing the animal wander alone, reminded him of the time Hound took him everywhere to cure his illness.
“Where are you from? Is your residence in the forest around here?”
Nagato looked into the adorable looking eyes of the animal. Even as he remembered he had only seen the animal sitting in front of him for the first time.
“No, I'm not from here. I was stranded on the beach yesterday. I don't know anyone.”
“Stranded?” Nagato raised his eyebrows.
“I am from Pulai Galapagos. Have you ever heard of the legend about the Giant Turtle Island? I'm from there!” The animal replied enthusiastically for fear of seeing Nagato's cold gaze. He hoped Nagato would treat him well.
“Wait..” Nagato took a breath, hearing the animal's reply in front of him made fragments of memories of Litha appear one after another.
‘Litha, your words are proven. Animals that can talk. Turtles in legend. Litha, did you see your stupid brother from up there. Life is full of mysteries!’ Nagato closed his eyes.
Chibi sees Nagato drowning in his past. Lately he had never seen Nagato laugh so much. He hoped Nagato would not lose control of hearing the animals' answers that could speak.
“White black bear, come with me. Now you can think of me as your friend.” Nagato signaled the animal to follow him to the Deathly Forest.
“Really? I'm Panda! Another black and white bear! I am Panda!” The animal jumped up in excitement and introduced himself.
Nagato tried to get used to seeing Panda's attitude.
“Your name?” Ask Panda.
Nagato replied, “My name is Nagato. Only Nagato.” While stepping his legs, Nagato and Panda chatted. Chibi follows the two from behind and feels neglected.
“Why did you go sailing to the ocean?” Nagato watched the surrounding forest before entering the Deathly Forest.
While on the way, the Nekoya and Panda ships were destroyed by the big waves. Even worse, they both went without supplies. When the two were separated, Panda was stranded on the beach, while until now he did not know the whereabouts of Nekoya.
“Meggelikan once.” Hearing Nagato's brief response, Panda immediately grabbed Kusanagi Sword and was about to stab himself in the heart.
“What are you doing? Don't take a sword from a swordsman!” Nagato forcibly took Kusanagi Sword and stared coldly at Panda.
“After I told you a long story, you kept looking at me coldly. Maybe more I die.”
“Nagato, this bear seems worse than me. He is a man.” Chibi jumps on Nagato's shoulder by climbing on his clothes.
“Hah? Just because of that? I'm kidding, I thought you guys were better than me for having your own life purpose. So don't die for silly reasons like this!” Nagato sheathed his sword neatly. If the Panda really committed suicide and died, then Nagato would not have calmed down.
‘Cih, she's sensitive once!’ Nagato walked faster than before. The panda followed him with all his might from behind. Several times the Panda staggered because it could not follow the speed of Nagato's footsteps.
Nagato ran after seeing the sweat-filled face of Panda. Arriving at the old hut in the Deathly Forest, Nagato opened the door and intended to surprise Sura.
“I'm home!”
“Oh, welcome, Nagato..” Sura got up from the bed. Then he looked at Nagato, before long his eyes widened to see the form of a Panda.
“Will you make this black and white bear dinner, Nagato?”
Hearing Sura's response, Chibi jumped up in excitement unable to hold back her laughter. While Nagato let out a long breath.
“This black and white bear is called Panda. It does sound unnatural, but it is a human animal, grandfather.” Nagato introduced Panda to Sura.
“I'm Panda, another bear!”
Seeing the angry Panda and talking, Sura held onto her left chest.
“He speaks!”
Sura gasped in shock at the Panda hitting Nagato's back. How can there be an animal that can talk and have emotions like humans. That was what was implied in Sura's mind.
This time, Panda looked very sensitive and took out a kitchen knife and pointed it towards the stomach. Nagato swiftly hit Panda's head and threw the knife away.
Then Nagato explained the situation Panda had experienced to Sura. He invites Panda to the Forest of Death because he feels the animal man has the same resemblance to him.
Traveling without direction. There's no place to go back. And the cold gaze of a stranger. Nagato was therefore a little interested in Panda. More or less he hates anyone who has experienced the same past as him.
“Thank God this grandson of mine has a friend.” Sura again laid her body before turning inward, ‘Walau her friend is an animal.’
“Grandfather, I'll practice. I'll find you some food later.”.
Nagato came out of the old hut and took off his clothes until he was bare-chested. When Panda was about to follow Nagato, soon Sura stopped him.
“Don't cook me! Nagato, help me!” Panda shouted, Sura instantly silenced him.
“Listen to this story from grandfather. I want you to keep an eye on my grandson after I'm gone.” Sura again laid her body and locked Panda's neck.
The panda was surprised to hear it. Then he sat on a bench close to the bed, but the bench he was sitting on was smashed to pieces. Then Panda looked at Chibi who did not care at all about what she was going through.
“Don't do anything stupid, black and white bear!”
“I'm Panda, another bear!”
Chibi and Panda spoke to each other. All of that made Sura laugh.
“I have a request for you..” Sura looked at the old Panda. Then he tells his wish as well as Nagato's past to Panda. At the last moment, Sura began to recount her last plea to Panda. Where Sura's request made Panda cry, even Chibi who accidentally heard it also cried.
