Jose finished explaining what he saw at Sir William's house. Rolan listened without giving any interruptions. They're both in Jose's room. Krip, Gerald, and Hans are also there—Rolan now uses Gerald and Hans as protectors. He no longer wants to see strange smoky creatures that can turn off lights and create artificial earthquakes. All four of them were in the same position as this afternoon. Jose sat on the lip of the bed, Rolan sat on a chair, Krip, Hans and Gerald cross-legged on a sitting pillow, in front of Jose.
"So, Sir William is .. monster?" Gerald still has a hard time processing what really happened. But he had seen dried bodies without blood, so Gerald kept trying to accept everything with an open mind. "And is he the same monster as the sniffing black ghost?"
Jose opened his palm, looking at the wound there that Rolan had treated. When he met the ghosts at Sir William's house, he clutched his own hand too tightly to hurt. "feels different. We're facing two different sides here, but clearly, both of them are related to this golden necklace."
"But the servant's corpse, sir?" Hans asked not understanding. "Is he not that sniffing creature?"
Jose shuddered at the thought of Gladys. He remembered that the undead were sniffing the air when they met at the Cliff Cliff. "No. I sure wasn't. Gladys said I saved him once. According to Sana, Gladys was afraid of the people on the mountain. It was when Sana met Gladys who had become a ghost. I guess, with me removing Gladys' body from the Bjork forest, I saved him from those people he feared. But he still wants to be saved again. Ghosts .. ah, no, it's not polite to call them ghosts. The spirits said they wanted to stop partying. They must be there beyond their will."
Krip nodded slowly, feeling that the explanation made sense. "And they asked Little Master for help? But why was the Lord chosen?"
Jose stroked the pendulum of the necklace that was still wrapped around his neck. "It was hot when I met Arabella. Maybe it all has to do with the influence of this necklace." He turned to Rolan, who had been listening in silence. "I asked Clearwater here because he said he saw Dave. I haven't had time to listen to the story yet, it's not good to chat in the monster house."
Rolan nodded in agreement. "You remember I told you that Marco and I suspected Charles was involved in the occult of Bjork?"
"The Catholic splinter? I remember."
"I think I was wrong about that. We're mistaken. Actually this still needs further investigation, but this assumption will explain a lot of things even about the importance of your necklace." Rolan saw the three people before him paying serious attention. He looked around vigilantly, staring at the doors and windows in the room. "Your room is soundproof?"
"Wanna move into Uncle Marco's room?" Jose offer. He wasn't sure his room was soundproofed, but he knew Marco's workroom was soundproofed.
Rolan glanced at the clock. It's already one in the morning. He is actually very tired, but this discussion is very important. Who knows if tomorrow morning he's still here or vanished swallowed by the mystery of Bjork. Rolan nodded, then sighed his body up.
Jose thinks his family must be asleep, so he is surprised to see Edgar, Renata, and Jacob and his wife still awake. The four of them spoke up in haste on the first floor. Renata looks worried. The view is visible from the runway on the second floor. Jose stopped going to Marco's room. He saw that Rolan was also curious.
Krip, Gerald and Hans wait on the runway of the stairs while Rolan and Jose walk down.
When he saw them approaching, Edgar said lightly, "It just so happens. I just called you!"
"Dad to go?" Jose's gaze fell on the small black suitcase beside his father's feet.
Edgar nodded. "Spencer's trade alliance is making a tantrum" he said. "They spread the news that Marco was missing, and moved to provoke and lobby here and there. I'm going to the capital to tell you that Marco is just conducting a private investigation. Many won't want to hear that I'm just sending an emissary."
"You don't have to leave in the middle of the night!" Renata. "The journey there is so far away, and Bjork is not safe!"
"I can accompany Dad" Jacob offered.
Edgar nodded. "You are here, accompany and take care of your mother and sister. Anyway, I'll be accompanied by Greyland. He'll escort me home and away, so you don't have to worry."
Renata recognizes Greyland as Marco's reliable accomplice. He looked a little calmer, though he remained agitated.
Jose felt like this was all intentional. The Argent family was deliberately separated. Edgar is forced to leave the house, of course Greyland will accompany him. When Greyland, known as Argent's bodyguard, left Bjork, their power was halved.
Edgar looked at Jose, understanding what his youngest son was thinking. He releases Renata, then embraces Jose and drags him away. Others give privacy by not following or staring in their direction. The father and son stopped behind a wall that separated the living room from the recreation room.
"Dad knows it's a trap, right?" ask Jose.
"I knew. They mean to weaken us. But we've been held captive. If I don't leave, Spencer and his alliance will succeed in influencing so many people against us. They have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. They know that if I leave, Greyland will automatically come and that means we lose half the power in Bjork. While if I go alone without Greyland—“
"Don't!" Jose quickly prevented. He clutched Edgar's arm, his eyes begging. Many were waiting for the fall of Argent with joy. They certainly would not be silent if they saw Edgar was really alone at a time when the conditions were so unstable as now. Jose shook his head, his voice trembling. "Don't. If you leave, Greyland will have to come. Not alone. That's a danger ..."
Edgar was touched to see Jose's eyes wet. He hugged and patted his son's back. "I thought you were a big boy. Soon you will be twenty-four" he said amusedly. "But it turns out you're still the same Jose. It's still my little son who's a whiny."
"I don't want to lose you" Jose drowned his face on his father's sturdy shoulder, suddenly feeling very tired. Taking care of so many things made him very tired. He wonders how Marco can remain relaxed and cool despite daily facing all these mysteries, all these secrets, and all the problems at Bjork.
"You won't lose your father" said Edgar calmly, holding back his voice from shaking because of the emotions he was feeling right now. He also does not want to leave. He wanted to remain at his home, with his son and wife, waiting for grandchildren to be born. But Edgar knew he couldn't be soft. He must finish this business in order to welcome Marco without feeling embarrassed when his brother comes home later. He should be able to maintain their dignity as an Argent. "I can't leave without seeing you get married. You understand that, right?"
Jose laughs. He took off his father's embrace. "I hit William Bannet just now" he reported suddenly. He ogled. "I wanted to tell you before anyone complained to Dad."
"Why did you hit him? Where's it going?"
"At the party earlier," Jose replied without guilt. "He was being disrespectful to Maria, I punched him twice in the face. His nose must have been broken."
Edgar nodded, no objection at all. Jacob burns down the house of the man who insulted him before leaving Bjork and his two other sons to do the same horrible things when harassed by others. For Edgar, what Jose did was nothing more than what his other sons did. Edgar knew nothing about the main issue with Sir William, so he only considered it an ordinary fight.
Edgar ruffled Jose's black hair affectionately. "Garnet again, Garnet again. Well, if that's your answer, I'll help you turn down your acquaintances there tomorrow."
