Jose gulped. Cold sweat dripped out from the pores on his back, rolling down to his waist. His heart was pounding hard.
I gotta go.
He removed the strand of hair in front of his forehead, then twisted the ankle and prepared to jump, just as his wrist was blocked and he was pulled a step back.
Jose is almost stuck. He turned his head in shock, finding both Marco and Rolan already behind him. Rolan gripped his left wrist.
“What are you doing here, Jose? I thought you were on campus!” Rolan said astonished. His face was soft and friendly, but the grip of his hand was hardened. Jose grimacing.
“Roll again, apparently?” Marco critically assessed.
Actually these two guys are a funny combination to look at for Jose. Marco was wearing a stiff formal suit, with a shirt overlaid in an open black suit and black cloth pants as if he were about to float. Even a loose tie was tied in the collar of his shirt. On the other hand, Rolan looks very casual. He wears shabby black pants and a light blue shirt whose arms are rolled up to the elbows. His brown hair looks messy naturally, carrying a natural friendly impression. His left hand carried an empty cup of tea. There was only the remaining golden water at the base of the ceramic cup.
“Aaah, I heard you like truancy, yeah. Though when I heard you left first because there was class, I thought you were starting to be diligent,” Rolan said cheerfully. His right hand released the grip on Jose's wrist slowly, as if unwilling to make any shocking movements that would make Jose blur.
Jose glanced, only to realize the direction of the sun. The sun was on his left side since then, making his shadow fall lengthwise on the right side of the wall bend. His uncles must have seen the shadow, so they shifted the topic so to the matter of boring weather and heat.
At least my hands are not blocked anymore, Jose thought relieved. There was something terrible in the way that Rolan had blocked him just now. The hand was like a cold and hard iron clamp.
“You've been here since?” marco asked with a probing glance.
His uncle always gave a probing or criticizing look, but Jose felt the current one was more frightening. His back skin is bristling and his legs seem to want to jump away from it immediately. He shook his head slowly, laughing while saying stiffly, “I just got here. Why indeed? Uncle is having a tea party outside?”
“Oh, I was just a fad,” replied Rolan when he saw the direction of Jose's eyes were fixed on his empty tea cup. “Marco said, drinking tea while looking at plants will feel good. Let me tell you something Jose: it makes no difference.”
Rolan's blink of an eye felt friendly, but the cold stream that slipped between them made Jose shiver. He laughed again, this time forced. “I want to see the kitchen first, Uncle. My stomach is hungry.”
Actually his stomach now feels heartburn and uncomfortable, but of course Jose will not say that. He walked past his two uncles. Just five steps down, Rolan had already called.
“Why?” Jose did not turn. He could feel his heart beating.
“No, I just wanted to meet your friend from Garnet. What's-her-name? Maria, huh? We haven't seen.” in a long time
This time Jose turned his whole body around. He looked at Rolan. “For what?”
“It's okay, just want to meet,” Rolan put his shoulders. “You've been friends since you were little. I remember, the last time I met him, he was still this tall,” He measured the height up to the stomach, then threw a cheerful smile. “How? Couldn't? Ask him, huh? Say I invited him to lunch.”
Sir William's.
Isn't Mary after the guy? Jose did not dare to look. He climbed up the black stone staircase, infiltrating into the house through the side corridor. His mind was in a fuss thinking about what was going to happen. Did Uncle Rolan invite him because he already knew about it? What would he do to Maria?
But there is no point in thinking about that now. He had already promised his two uncles to invite Maria to lunch, and if it was not met, Marco would have been very suspicious. I don't know what his uncle would do if that happened.
Jose called Maria at nine in the morning, hoping she was gone. At least he can say that he has tried to contact but is not connected.
Hope is not fulfilled. Garnet's waiter connected her to Maria.
“Halo, Jose, why?”
“Hey, I'm not bothering you?"
“No. I have a dance class at noon, but I'm not doing anything right now. Tumben you called." Mary laughed crisply across, sounding as bright as an angel. “Why? You need anything?”
“No, it's just .. You know, my maternal uncle, who became the doctor .. You remember him?” Jose hoped Maria would say no.
“Doctor Rolan, right? Of course remember! He is a very friendly and kind person! Why her? Oh, don't tell me something bad happened! This isn't bad news, is it?”
Jose sighs. I still don't know if it's going to be bad or not. “No, coke. He invited you to lunch. That'sthat's all. But if you have class, I'll tell you that you can't. No need to hesitate.”
“Class starts at two. What time does your lunch start?”
“Jam one, no need to force, I don't want you to be in a hurry later.”
“Ah who are you talking to! It's me, Maria! So, one o'clock, huh? Do I have to wear certain clothes? What is lunch in order?”
“Enormal lunch,” Jose small smile. “Wear ordinary clothes, my uncle just needs someone to hear him bragging. She's so chatty and I hope it won't bore you to death.”
“Yang is right!” Mary laughed again. “Uncle Rolan has always been my favorite! He used to give me lollipops! Okay, I'll be there at exactly one o'clock!”
“No, I'll pick you up.”
