"Come in," Marco shook his hand, asking the two men in the doorway to approach. "Garnet's just going down for breakfast."
"Garnet," Lady Chantall greeted with a friendly smile, as if her eyes had just not flashed piercingly.
"Milady," Maria returned the same kind smile, beginning to understand why Nolan was avoiding this woman until she needed to hide in Jose's room. Their height is almost the same, but Lady Chantall has a slimmer, more grooved body reminiscent of an hourglass. Even the plain cape vest that the woman was wearing could not hide her body shape. The woman was beautiful, but her existence was intimidating, as if a wall of fire was flaring around her.
"Don't go first" Lady Chantall caught Maria's arm swiftly, pulling her gently back to the sofa in the sitting room. "I'm sorry it's a little pushy, but I want to make sure of one thing with you."
"I didn't do anything just now" Maria said quickly defensively. Rolan let out an amused laugh while Lady Chantall gave him a blank look.
"I haven't asked you anything, princess. Hold your tongue." The woman's green eyes flashed coldly again. He sat down by Mary's side. "Flora Spencer will do the celebration for the opening of the kitchen generally. I heard you were invited, too?"
Maria nodded stiffly. "Say, we'll watch the eclipse together." He was silent for a moment. He looked at the green eyes of the woman in shock. "Is ..."
Lady Chantall nodded. "Spencer has something to do with all this, Garnet. You don't know yet? I suggest you don't go." He smiled with relief. "Good, we now know where they intend to perform the cursed ritual."
"Garnet is coming" Rolan said.
"You know what's going to happen there, right?" Lady Chantall spewed out a protest. "Garnet is the key, as long as they can't get it, whatever ritual they want to perform won't be able to happen!"
"I'm just telling you what he's thinking" Rolan raised his hand toward Maria. "You see his eyes? He'll keep coming. Then look at this guy." His thumb was thrown towards Marco who was standing side-by-side behind him. "He will also come there."
"I did get the invitation" Marco confirmed.
Lady Chantall widened her eyes in disbelief. "You must have a plan, not to take your life, right?"
Marco nodded. "That's what I'm going to discuss with Stuart when he comes." His smile is sweet. "Do you know when is the best time to counterattack?"
"When the opponent is off guard" said Lady Chantall.
"When the opponent is surrounded?" reply Rolan.
Maria looked at Marco deeply, feeling understood the man's intentions. "When they want to kill us?"
Marco laughing. "When the enemy thinks he's got us."

Jose was still sleeping on the couch when Maria came back. Both of his eyes were tightly clenched, his breathing blowing regularly without a sound.
Rolan approached, checking his pulse. "He's just sleeping. I sprinkled the medicine in her food to make her rest. That's all he needs now after jumping there and coming here like a dog."
"She had an appointment with Clearwater and Marsh" she said. He sat on a single sofa on the side of Jose's head, from which he could more freely look at a friend's face since childhood. His eyebrows are better than mine, he thought upset, why are men given good eyebrows and women should always fix the eyebrow line every morning? God is so fad.
"I know about that. That's why I want him to rest." Rolan stroked Jose's black hair like he used to when his nephew was a child. "He's very important for this city."
Maria understood what the man meant. He reached out his hand forward, flicking a nearby wavy black hair. "I couldn't imagine him replacing Uncle Marco" he said, putting his chin on the arm of the sofa.
"Have you?"
"First." Maria took a breath. "There's a lot that's changed, Doctor. Everything changed. I'm like being given new glasses to see things .. a lot of things I've wasted."
"You'll be safe, Maria. You're gonna be fine" Rolan tried to calm down. "You know how Marco is, right? He always had a plan. And he will execute his plan exactly as usual. Don't forget that Jose must have made sure a thousand times that you'd be safe."
"you mean? You don't trust Jose?"
"Instead, I believe in it." Maria closed her eyes. I believe he'll do something reckless just to save me, and that's the problem. He got up from his chair. "I'm going down to see Mrs Renata. He must be in the garden."
Rolan nodded. As soon as Maria left, she touched Jose's forehead. "awake. I know you're not sleeping."
Jose opened his eyelids. "If Uncle sprinkles poison in my breakfast again, I'll burn Uncle's research warehouse. Really."
"It's not poison but medicine." Rolan laughed, inwardly taking notes to move his research papers elsewhere. "I did give you medicine because I wanted you to rest. But why did you get up? You're supposed to be walking in dreamland right now."
Jose got up and shifted, leaning against the arm of his long sofa. "Uncle trained me to be drug-resistant."
"Marco?"
"Did I have another crazier uncle?" reply Jose ketus. "I can recover before an hour has passed. My record. Usually it takes me one to two hours."
Rolan nodded. He would not even be surprised if Jose admitted Marco gave him poison every day to be immune. Marco really prepared Jose as his replacement. "Then why pretend to sleep when Maria comes?"
Jose bent his knees and put his forehead there. He sighed. "I'll just get upset and get him into a fight if we talk."
"Why?"
"Uncle Marco made a crazy plan, I know that. I can guess it. And Mary followed him."
Rolan. "Well, they were planning something while I was there. But you don't have to worry, Marco always protects his family."
"That's the problem," Jose complained. He raised his face, looking at his uncle. "Uncle will only protect his family. Even if he had to sacrifice others, even if thousands died at his feet, he wouldn't care."
"Then ask Mary. Make him an Argent" said Rolan casually. "You guys are the same age. You're single, she's single. Renata and Edgar liked him. Your family status is level. You've known each other since childhood. Easy, right? I can take care of the wedding. You want to wear a white or black suit?"
Jose growled lowly hearing the joke. "It's not a good time to joke, Uncle."
"I'm not kidding, I always think you're a good fit." Rolan smiled. "And you like it."
Jose turned his gaze at the coffee table beside him. The waiter had cleaned up his used breakfast utensils and replaced them with a set of ceramic cups and a pot of hot tea. "What's the point of looking good if he doesn't feel that way."
Rolan disagreed. Just now he saw the way Mary looked at Jose, and it wasn't the gaze of a friend. "You just try to make sure" he said.
"He rejected me long before I said anything."
"That was before. You heard yourself saying a lot of things have changed" Rolan said. "You grew up together like brothers, it's natural that he refused. He never saw you as a man. But now it's different. Anyway it used to be possible that Marco messed things up with a mispronunciation or something like that. You should try it again now, say it yourself directly."
"I almost tried it, almost told him yesterday." Jose closed his eyes, feeling embarrassed considering Adrian Marsh and Lucas Clearwater also saw him at the time. "Thank God there's an undead stopping me. If he rejected me, I would be fucked right now. I won't be able to think of any plans."
"Who said he would reject you?" ask Rolan gropes. He wanted to directly push this niece of his to Maria, but it would definitely make things worse, especially in such a precarious situation. "Who knew he'd think about it."
"Impossible. He doesn't even believe me" Jose murmured bitterly. "He trusted Uncle Marco more."
