“Because it is more practical for him to wear pants to run to and fro,” Jose replied quickly. He glanced at Maria, finding the girl frowning cluelessly. “He is so. Since when did you know she was a girl? Early met him, I thought he was a boy.”
“The man's man? From the election he said, look in his eyes, his jealousy, obviously she's female.”
“Jealousy?”
“You didn't see it? She's obviously jealous of our relationship.”
“Know where?”
“The questions! The challenge! He seemed to wonder what was going on between us. He's angry that he saw it like we were close. That's jealousy!”
Jose chuckles. “You're kidding. He did not think about it at all, his son was easily provoked and always said rude things. Uncle Marco just give up.”
Maria again looked shocked. “He's met with Uncle Marco? Damnit. Honestly, Jose. What the hell is it? What does this have to do with you?”
“Haha, now you are also jealous, nih?”
Maria swung her handbag over Jose's back. Hard enough. The man complained.

It's hard to have two desires at once at the same time.
Nolan could not explain why he felt so angry today. He got the gift of fishing gear, got a large number of fresh fish expensive—can be sure dinner later will definitely fancy—ia also happy because it is treated crepes. Jose was a pleasant interlocutor and the man was rarely as angry with him as was done by others south of Bjork.
Even so, Nolan found that he still felt annoyed.
Suddenly the anger came, crashing into Nolan right in the heart, making his chest ache. Feels shitty. Moreover, Nolan still did not know what made him feel this angry. He wanted to immediately leave, go from the north and set foot again in the wetlands of South Bjork. But at the same time, he didn't want to leave either. He still wants to be in the warm sun and smell the festive food. He also wanted to talk about many things, including the monstrous monsters he saw peeping last night.
Nolan remembered.
He should be talking about it, not getting angry.
After receiving two more crepes from the annoying salesman who was looking at him with a suspicious face, Nolan immediately turned back towards Jose— only to find the man laughing with Maria.
Maria smacked her handbag on Jose's back, then they both laughed, looking very familiar. Nolan bit his lip. Unknowingly, his hand gripped the crepes firmly, making the hot crepes on his right hand crumble and the contents almost jump out.
He had only met a man like Mary for the first time. The women in the place where she lives are only in a few categories. First, the shy. Second, the bullies and the gossipers. Three, beautiful but stupid. Mary does not fall into any category of women known to Nolan. Nolan and Maria's eyes are both blue, but the blue on Mary's iris looks brighter. His waist was small, his legs were long, his face was petite, even his chest contained. More than anything, the woman was just like Jose, the one who looked straight into the eyes of the interlocutor. Nolan turned his head, staring at the reflection of himself on the metal box of the ice cream seller.
The girl in the shadow looked very ugly and seedy. Her clothes were dirty, her hair was disheveled, and her face was blurry. If the matter is opaque, it's because Nolan glazed on aluminum metal. Standing next to Maria will make her look like a clown. That's why Nolan took his place next to Jose when he came back.
The man greeted her with a friendly smile as usual and accepted the crepes with a joyful face. Maria seemed unhappy, making Nolan even hotter and more irritated.
Jose looked at him with an interested face, but Nolan knew the man did not fully understand what he was saying; then Nolan continued, “On the strange creature that creeps across the river, what we saw yesterday. I saw it again.”
He deliberately used vague sentences to upset Maria. He intends to show that there is a secret that Mary does not know, intent on making the girl jealous. But Mary's face was calm. Jose looked surprised.
“You go to the forest again? Didn't I tell you, no one's going there?”
“What are you, bossy? Our village chief?” reply Nolan fast, automatic. He always reflexively rebukes those who dare to rule him. “I mean not that,” error hastily. “I'm not into the woods, really. Neither do my sisters. It's that fog problem, last night when the fog appeared, I saw it.”
“Where? You're out of the house again when the fog comes?”
“Again?” Maria frowned at the description of the time.
Nolan, for the first time, was very satisfied with the reaction. He shook his head twice to Jose. “I'm not going outside. The fog has come! I can't sleep, then ...”
Nolan stopped his sentence. He felt very cold in an instant. Backs goosebumps. He knew this sensation, his natural instinct that grew thick living on the streets.
Someone is watching him.
Someone who is dangerous.
Nolan shuddered. He looked around quickly, examining one by one the people on the street. Too many. There were too many people, from merchants to pedestrians or office people. Everyone walked over while chatting or laughing, only a few were staring at them at a glance, but nothing was suspicious. The one with the creepy face was no—at least, not creepy for Nolan.
“Why?” jose asked in surprise as soon as he saw Nolan glancing around with concern. “What did you want to tell me earlier?”
Nolan returned the view forward. “You don't feel it?”
“Taste what?” Jose doesn't understand. “And you told me.”
“You're sharing a spooky story or how, anyway?” Maria chimed in. His face seemed interested.
Nolan felt otherwise, not at all interested in the girl to listen to the story. He did not respond to Mary's question and turned to Jose, continuing his story of the foggy night and the apparition peering through the window. The dark face was still firmly attached within Nolan's head, making him shudder instantly.
“Then?”
“Then?” Nolan repeated Jose's question just now with a question mark. “Then there was nothing. I closed my eyes while praying in my heart. Time of opening his eyes, he's gone.”
Maria smiled with a smile. According to him, Nolan was just dreaming or the story just now is one of the tricks to find the attention of Jose. He was not at all surprised, his childhood friend was easy to attract the attention of women. Whenever Maria teased him, Jose always reasoned, many approached because of the name Argent he was holding. But Maria knows clearly, there is indeed a charm in the man who likes to play games.
