BLOODY LOVE'S

BLOODY LOVE'S
Episode 79's

Nolan pulled his hand off Jose. He rubbed his own wrist. "You're an Argent, huh?" the hiss is slow, "and no one can rule you? That's why you think you can drag me around here and there at will?"

They are already in the forest openings, on the surface of the green field adjacent to the pedestrian bridge, covered with bodies of fire-fighting cars that block the road. Jose rested his shoulders on the body of the car. "I have to say that so as not to be underestimated. He was being rude to you anyway."

In an instant, Nolan's annoyance subsided. He was amazed at his emotions that were so easy to go up and down every time he was near Jose, as if the man knew where the emotional switch was on him.

"He couldn't believe it when you said we didn't hear anything" Nolan said, clutching the collar of his shirt, which I took for a rude snatch. His face color was still reddish from suffocating. "All your uncles are horrible people." Now the girl turned to Jose, sympathizing with the young man's life being surrounded by strange people.

"I knew. Wanna gohome? I'll drive you."

"My house is just there, you don't have to drive."

"You say the fog is coming soon, right? Better both than alone."

Nolan surrendered. "As much as you."

Jose stepped first in response. He heard the sound of Nolan's footsteps behind him, then the girl was immediately by his side, walking with long strides. Nolan never likes to be behind other people.

Nothing prevented the two from leaving. Patrol police who saw them passing by even offered to drop off. Both refused firmly.

"I know what you're thinking" Nolan said, his breathing manifested in the form of white steam. The sound of his footsteps rang out loudly encroaching on the dried grass. "You're definitely going to that guy's house, right?"

"Whose house?"

"Mr Bannet."

Jose's shoes stopped in place, leaving Nolan five steps ahead of him. The girl stopped. The dried leaves below them slumped violently as he turned around.

"Where do you know that name?" Jose asked.

"Oh, my goodness. The time you forgot? When we first met, you were looking for that guy. You asked us if any of my family had seen that man named Mr. Bannet. That name came up again in the talk of your two crazy uncles. I don't go to school, but I'm not stupid, Jose. It's easy to see that you think he has something to do with all this—or at least so you think."

Jose laughed flatly. "You're talented to be a detective, Nolan."

"No, it's just an easy conclusion" Nolan said quickly, his cheeks blushing slightly. He rubbed his short hair back, looking happy. "What kind of person are you looking for?"

Jose shakes. "Come, just go home."

"You don't want to tell me?"

"Sometimes, don't know it much better, Nolan." Jose regretted after saying that sentence. The same thing Marco said to him.

"Omong is empty" Nolan said. "Know is always better. Knowledge will not make you lie!"

Jose stop. His shoes stepped on the thick green grass in the field. He looked at Nolan. "What if the lie makes your life easier?"

"The matter of making it easier or not easy, it's me who decides. Other people don't need to know if something's gonna be easy or hard after they've lied to me."

Jose smiled faintly. "You're smart."

Nolan just shrugged, as if the compliment he received every day and he no longer cared. But her cheeks were red and her eyes were sparkling with pleasure. "So? You want to tell me about the people you're looking for or not?"

Nolan listened to Jose's story diligently. While talking, they finally reached the front of Nolan's house. Some neighbors around steal a look at them secretly.

"You suspect the ghost has something to do with William?" ask Nolan.

Jose hissing. "Don't be so hard."

Nolan grimaces. "sorry. But these lost men had been around since before William came," he lowered his voice. "There's a story here about Banshee, and people think it was Banshee who kidnapped those people."

"Banshee?" Jose frowned.

"I think it's just a myth." Nolan shrugged his shoulders. "But I don't know. Which are myths and which are true, are all confusing."

***

The banshee is a mythical creature. Usually described as a woman who howls. But in South Bjork there is a belief that Banshee lives in the forest, and the demon is responsible for the disappearance of people in Bjork.

Jose rummaged through the archives of mythology and legend at the center of the archive, looking deeper into urban legends and stories. There may be some hidden truth in the legends. However, those stories must have come about for a reason. There must be a trigger.

But after hours of reading, Jose found nothing meaningful. The clock had shown him at seven o'clock and Nina had already approached him, asking him to leave.

"Police patrols have been loitering ever since. You better go home." Nina frowned when she saw the books Jose had finished. He helped the man put the books he had read into the return trolley. "Are you interested in reading horror stories?"

Jose smiled faintly. "Just want to know about South Bjork."

Nina nodded slowly. "Which I hear, the river there is a sacred river. It used to be used for the ritual of returning the spirit."

Jose was astonished. "What ritual?"

"Return of the spirit," said Nina astonished. "You never heard of it? If not wrong, the construction of the bridge was also protested by the old religion, but now they are almost extinct, so there are no more protests."

Jose gaping. He should have asked Nina from the beginning. "What else do you know? I want to hear the full story."

Nina laughs. "I only know from my grandmother. There is an old religion in Bjork, Ancient Bjork Religion. I heard they were throwing lanterns in the river as a guide to spirits, and the sacred place was on the mountain. Many adherents of the religion long lived in the South, but he said many have forgotten the religion."

"Did your grandmother live here? Can I see him?" Jose hurriedly asked.

Nina stared at Jose for a bit longer, as if considering something. "Yes, of course you can see him if you want. But not tonight."

Jose blinked, he hurriedly shook his head. "Of course not. Please tell your grandmother that I want to see her, whenever she's willing. I really want to hear the story."

Had Jose not said it in such a serious tone, Nina would have refused. But Jose looked so serious, as if his life depended on the story. So Nina nodded.

"I'll ask you first." Nina looks at the clock, then leaves Jose to clear her desk. Other librarians were also busy with paperwork and preparing to go home. One of the patrolmen had already come and knocked on the door, warning of curfew.

Jose feels he will make progress in his investigation. The story of the old religion and the lantern coverings somehow stuck in his heart, making him remember the story of Sana.

As she recalled, Sana told me that Gladys was talking about the crowds on the mountain. People what does that mean?
