Babysitter For Rain

Babysitter For Rain
CHAPTER 22

Marius was having a meeting with a client company representative for a project he was working on, when Lucas suddenly apologized for having to cut their conversation.

Lucas immediately whispered something in Marius' ear, and within seconds Marius' eyes opened wide. He looked at Lucas as if looking for confirmation of what he had just heard, and Lucas confirmed it.

"I'm sorry, I had to cancel today's meeting. We'll talk about this project at our next meeting" Marius told his guests.

Without waiting for the guests to come out, Marius immediately left the room followed by Lucas.

"What happened?" asked Marius to Lucas as they were already in the car.

"Don't know yet. They just said, Ana told them to follow her because she's going to take Rain to the hospital" Lucas replied.

"Then, where are they now?"

"They'll be in the hospital soon."

When Marius arrived at the hospital, he got out of his car immediately, and rushed to find Ana. A bodyguard who had arrived first upon seeing Marius immediately drove Marius to where Ana and Rain were.

"Ana!," called Marius who saw the girl sitting down covering her face with both hands. She was crying.

Ana who heard Marius' call immediately stood up and looked at Marius.

"I remember everything .. You told me .. but the doctor said Rain ... allergy .. I .. I myself prepared the provisions ..."

Ana was trying to say something between her sobs. Although not completely, Marius finally understood what was going on at this time.

Marius looked at Ana who was already very frightened, even her hands were trembling. He pulls Ana into his arms to calm her down. Ana still continued to cry in her arms.

Not long after, Marius saw a man come out of a room. He could see Rain lying there. Ana immediately released herself from Marius' arms when she saw this man.

"How's Rain? She's okay, right?" asked Ana, who was still trying hard when her eyes were filled with tears.

"He's better. But for a while let him stay here for a few days. We need to see if there are any other complications" the man explained.

"You can see it if you want," said the man again whom Ana immediately responded by entering the room.

"Thank you for helping Rain" Marius said. He was convinced this man was the owner of the car that Ana had asked to follow him.

"Ah, must be Rain's papa. Meet Noel, Arsen's papa. Our child ... class," Noel explained as he stuck out his hand to Marius who immediately returned the greeting.

"I just happened to be there. When I saw Ana panicking I immediately caught up with her. Apparently, Rain was unconscious" Noel explained.

"As I said earlier, Rain will be fine. Don'worry. I will always monitor him" said Noel again who begged him to leave.

As soon as Noel left, Marius caught up with Ana and entered the room where Rain was lying. Marius saw Ana still crying beside Rain.

"I'm sorry Ana, Rain. Sorry ... should be Sister Ana ... more thorough. Sorry, Rain, sorry ..."

Marius was tormented to see Ana crying in self-blame. Rain lay weakly with a bottle of infusion injected into the back of his tiny hand. A few days ago, he still saw the two people he loved so dearly laughing happily, but now, what sight is this?

Not long after, Lucas came along with the bodyguards behind him. Looking at Lucas, Marius was like getting something in his head. He immediately grabbed Ana's hand and pulled her out of the room.

"Please take care of Rain for a moment. Call me if anything happens" Marius asked Lucas.

Lucas seemed to understand the situation, as he immediately agreed to Marius' request. While Marius, without waiting for Lucas' answer, had already gone to take Ana with him.

......................

"Cry as much as you are here" said Marius softly.

Even with her eyes, Ana was still stunned to hear Marius' words. He did not understand Marius's intentions.

"You'll only make Rain worry if he wakes up and sees you like that. If you want to cry, better cry here. Lucas will let me know if Rain has regained consciousness" Marius explained.

Gaining such freedom, Ana could no longer hold back from continuing what she had been delaying. Marius accompanied Ana by sitting next to her, and gave her handkerchief.

Marius waited beside Ana. He knew the current Ana must be feeling very guilty for what happened to Rain. But Marius also knew the mistake did not belong to Ana.

Marius knew very well, Ana memorized everything she wrote in the file she sent to Ana the first time the girl came to her house. Ana always remembers what Rain likes and dislikes. So it is very unlikely that Ana can forget that Rain has an allergy to strawberries.

Marius also knew, Ana always checked the information on the packaging of every snack she would give Rain. She also saw Ana swapping a bottle of strawberry-flavored milk that Rain had picked up while they were walking in a supermarket. How could Ana possibly be wrong to add the ingredients to the provisions she made for Rain?

But, who should Marius blame, if he himself did not know the real culprit. And for the umpteenth time, Marius felt defeated because once again the person he loved had to be hurt again because he had mispredicted the next step of the perpetrator.

"When Rain was 1 year old, Adam tried to give him strawberries. Because she heard that fruit was good for children," Marius said as she saw Ana's cries had already begun to subside. Ana, who suddenly heard Marius tell a story like that, turned her head and listened to Marius.

"When Rain had just eaten a few bites, Rain had already begun to suffocate. Adam started to panic. He called me and Lucas was in the office. It happened the same as today. Adam hurriedly took her to the hospital, and I followed with Lucas."

"Thank God Rain's allergic reaction wasn't too severe, because Adam immediately took her to the hospital. A few hours later, Rain regained consciousness and smiled again, as if nothing had happened to her."

Marius landed his hand on Ana's head, and brought her face closer to Ana's.

"Doctor said Rain would be fine, and that means Rain would be fine."

"Really?" asked Ana.

Marius nodded his head. "Hmm .. because you did a great job today, Ana. Just like Adam did back then."

"But .. maybe I hurt Rain," said Ana, who again began to cry considering the incident that hit Rain.

Marius held Ana's head gently to keep looking at her, then said in a soft tone, "Listen, Ana. Trust yourself to yourself. You know best how Rain. You check the food Rain eats, check every label, make sure you use it again. Is it possible that you would be as reckless as you imagined you to be doing wrong?"

Ana shook her head. "But ... but ..."

"Nothing but, Ana," said Marius again who once again restrained Ana's head. "If you're feeling doubtful about yourself, then how can you be sure Rain will stay safe with you?"

Marius saw that Ana's eyes were gradually starting to return to how they had been. A pair of beautiful eyes that Marius had known all along, which Marius had always liked.

Marius's phone rang. Soon Marius answered, "Hmm .. I'll be there."

Marius closed the call, and went back to Ana who he still held his head.

"Rain is conscious. He's looking for you" said Marius.

Marius could see Ana's face becoming full of happiness as she offered it. He took his hand off Ana's head. The girl immediately stood up and invited Marius to meet Rain.

"Wash your face first. You already look like a puffed cat," seduced Marius.

Ana looks upset with Marius' words, but Marius laughs at Ana's regret.

Seeing Ana like that, at least Marius could calm down, Ana was already fine now, as well as Rain.
