"You stay here, let me take care of Val first"
So Marius said, 10 minutes ago as he left Ana and Rain in his room. During those 10 minutes, Ana's heart did not calm down in the slightest. He kept thinking about what Lucas had said.
"Nonsense? Whatdoes thatmean? Does Valerie want custody of Rain?," asked Ana in her heart.
He looked at Rain who was still lying on his bed. His face still looked pale, but sweat started to rush out.
"It seems like the medicine is starting to work," Ana's inner self while occasionally wiping Rain's sweat with a wet towel that had been on the nightstand near Rain's bed.
And the other 5 minutes had already passed, Marius still had not returned. Ana became impatient. His mind grew increasingly confused, his feelings began to feel uncomfortable. He finally decided to go down.
After leaving Rain to Tian and the servant in charge of Rain's room, Ana rushed towards Marius's study, just like Tian had said to her.
Ana was only a few steps away from Marius's study, but Marius and Valerie's cries could be heard. Their conversation did not seem to go smoothly.
......................
"Are you crazy, Val?!," snapped Marius who was accompanied by a slam on the table.
"You're free to say anything about me. But, I just want my rights. He's my son, and I'll take him. He will live happily together with his biological father," said Valerie who is no less harsh with Marius.
"Think about Rain, Val." Even Lucas who had been silent all along, now spoke. "He knows no one but us."
"He'll learn to know her" Valerie replied briefly.
"I've said it before, Val. Rain is Adam's son. Point," Marius insisted.
"And I've said it too, Marius. Her mother. I know better who his real father is. I'll prove it to you."
"What are you going to do, Val?" asked Marius. His voice almost sounded vibrating.
"You've always believed he was Adam's son. But you've never done a DNA test, have you? You are afraid to do it because you are worried about the outcome. Right, right?"
Marius answered nothing. She looked at Valerie as if she did not believe that Valerie would do it.
"I am her real mother. There are documents confirming that. So I have the right to take him. All this time I was too scared of you that's why I just kept quiet. But not anymore. I'll take him. My lawyer will send you a warning letter."
As soon as the last sentence was spoken, Valerie immediately walked towards the exit of Marius's study. And just as he opened the door, he saw Ana standing in front of him.
Ana and Valerie stared at each other for a moment. Ana has no idea what Valerie is thinking. But, Valerie didn't seem to care about what Ana was doing there either. Because after that, Valerie left Ana.
"Didn't you want to ask Rain what she really wanted?" asked Ana who finally stopped Valerie's steps.
Without turning to face Ana, Valerie said, "No need. He's my son. A child should live with his mother."
Valerie put her foot back on. But Ana feels she should know about Rain's current condition.
"Didn't you want to see it? Rain is sick now."
And Valerie's steps came to a standstill. This time he looked at Ana.
Valerie entered Rain's room following Ana who had entered first. Marius and Lucas followed suit. Tian and the few servants who had been inside were now alternating out of the room and standing in front of him.
Rain probably woke up when Ana came down earlier. Because when he came in, he was sitting on his bed. As she looked at Valerie, the look on her face showed confusion.
Valerie who sat on the lip of Rain's bed, touched the little girl's forehead with the back of her hand. "Are you sick?" he asked.
Rain just nodded his head.
"Have you taken your medicine?" he asked again. Rain nodded his head back.
"Do you know I'm your mother?"
"Val!!"
Marius and Lucas almost simultaneously call Valerie because of their disapproval of what Valerie did. But, even though their voices were loud enough, even Rain turned her head towards them, Valerie still did not care about it. He looked at Rain.
Rain started to get uncomfortable with the way Valerie was staring. Actually, she's been getting uncomfortable since Valerie's last question. He started looking for Ana in the room. When he found her, he extended both his hands towards Ana, then with his weak voice, Rain called out to her.
"Mommy ..."
Ana, who wanted to give Valerie time to talk to Rain, has no choice when Rain calls her. He immediately approached Rain and greeted the two hands, then grabbed his tiny body. The little girl immediately went up in Ana's arms, and hugged her.
"Well, give him a little time to get to know you" Ana pinta said. Ana's hand did not stop rubbing Rain's back to calm her down.
Valerie instantly gave her sharp gaze towards Ana. She really didn't like what Ana said just now.
"You don't have to teach me. He is my son, and he will obey me."
Seeing that she wasn't needed there, Valerie moved out of Rain's bed, then walked out of the room. Marius.
"Don't you see even Rain doesn't want to be away from Ana? If you're her mother, why don't you just ask her what Rain really wants?" Marius said after he closed Rain's bedroom door.
"The girl .. she only took a few months, and the boy was already so close to her. If I wasn't given the same chance, we'd never know how she felt about me, would we? I just want her to be happy with her real dad."
Marius held back his anger when Valerie again mentioned 'real father'. He still does not accept Valerie's denial of Adam as Rain's real father.
"How can he be so confident if Dylan is his real father?" Marius said grimly in his heart.
Valerie did not continue their conversation. Because after he said his last sentence, he immediately turned around leaving Marius who was still holding back his anger.
Lucas who had just come out right after Valerie left, looked at Marius who was clenching both hands, and slowly approached her.
"What are we going to do now, Marius?" asked Lucas.
"Prepare the lawyer. We will do what we can do" replied Marius who tried to lower his anger tension. In the midst of her anger, she knows her position is not strong when compared to Valerie who is Rain's birth mother.
"Aren't you suspicious of someone pushing him to do that?"
"I think so too. Just investigate who the lawyer is. If he knew he would come face to face with me, someone would definitely give him his best lawyer. We'll know who told him to."
