CHAPTER 65

Marius and Ana enter the courtyard of a house together. Once inside, Ana was amazed by the beauty of the oriental-style courtyard. But, it still could not shake his nervousness.

Tonight, Marius takes Ana to a dinner party. Although Marius said this was not an official event, Ana did not stop feeling nervous. Her nervousness grew, as Ana began to enter the house.

"Marius, are you sure this is okay?," whispered Ana to Marius who was beside her at the moment. Marius' hand, which he had been holding since, was tightly grasped until it broke into a sweat.

Marius smiled as he looked at Ana who had not stopped asking. "Don't worry, she will definitely like you," he said calming Ana down.

"If not how?" whispered Ana again.

Marius moved the back of his index finger gently down Ana's nose. "You're this. Stop thinking strange things. If I had been sure it would not have been wrong" said Marius.

"Well, I'm just worried" said Ana. Once again Marius smiled hearing that. She clasped Ana's hand while occasionally wiping it to calm her down.

The dinner was an invitation from Mr. Wangs. Yes, one of DYNE's executive officers eventually contacted Marius.

Mr. Wang has long been an executive officer on DYNE's board of commissioners. Everyone respected him, because they considered him an elder in DYNE. Because of his powerful influence, Marius desperately needed his help.

But, this meeting was not Marius' first since Mr. Wang called. Marius met him last night.

"My secretary said you wanted to explain something. Why is it so serious to have to explain it?" said Mr. Wangs.

The 70-year-old man spoke in a rather slow tone, but just listening to him could easily tell that Mr. Wang was a wise man and had a very deep thought.

"I'm sorry for not explaining so well that there was a misunderstanding with my actions" Marius said, bowing his body.

"What have you done? Is there a problem?" asked Mr. Money again.

"I can understand if my uncle disapproves of this engagement, but I have a reason why I did it" Marius said.

"So you still call me uncle? I thought you'd forgotten me" said Mr. Wangs.

"I wouldn't dare to do it. Uncle is someone I respect besides my parents." Marius said it very firmly.

Mr. Wang looked silently at Marius who was deepening in bow before him. He could see Marius' earnestness from what he was doing. Therefore, he asked Marius to stand up and sit down nearby.

"I'm very close to Ernest and Agnes. We are like brothers. I know Agnes has a daughter-in-law of her own choice. He's dying to see you get married. But ... If you don't like it, at least don't choose it from the Barnett family. ARK is not a good business partner for DYNE" said Mr. Wangs.

"I understand who Uncle means. Name's Ana. All this time, she stayed at my house to babysit Rain. There's a reason why I did that. And that's why, I'm gonna need uncle's help."

Marius explained everything he planned to Mr. Wangs. Although, Mr. Wang simply listened to everything Marius said without showing any change to the look on his face. He just closed his eyes, and seemed to be thinking about something.

"The child ... Ana ... I always heard Agnes say her name. He liked it very much" said Mr. Wang after Marius finished explaining everything. "I want to meet him."

Marius was surprised to hear that. He did not expect Mr. Wang will say it.

"Come tomorrow for dinner here. Take her with you. I'll make sure of it myself, whether she's the girl Agnes meant to be or not."

Ana and Marius are still waiting for Mr. Money in the living room. A waiter came in and drove them to the dining room. Shortly after they sat down, Mr. Wang went into the room. Marius and Ana stood up to greet him.

"You must be named Ana" said Mr. Wang after they sat down. He smiled like a parent smiling at his son.

"Haha .. Sit down, no need to be nervous. It's just a regular dinner" said Mr. Wang who seemed to be able to see Ana's nervousness.

When Ana sits down again, Mr. Wang saw something on Ana's neck. A necklace with a pendant piles five small diamonds arranged upwards and clamped by two small metal pillar-like pendants on his left right.

"That jar ... did you buy it?," asked Mr. Wangs.

Ana held onto her necklace. "This ... Someone gave this to me a long time ago."

"Can you tell me who gave it to you?" asked Mr. Money again.

From Mr. Wang, Ana turned her gaze to Marius who was beside her. Ana wasn't sure if she could say it or not. But, as Marius nodded his head, Ana looked back at Mr. Wangs.

"Mama Agnes gave it to me" Ana replied.

Mr. Wang smiled broadly at Ana's response. Then, he asked, "Since I saw you, dazzled by the lightning, my eye is veiled with a mirage. Have you heard of it?"

Ana remembered it for a while, then then nodded her head.

"Do you know what it will be?" he asked again.

"I look without seeing, or I don't see in the air. Float only a shape, your sweet image" Ana says.

Mr. Wang smiled with satisfaction. "That's Agnes' favorite poem."

Finish dinner, Mr. Wang calls his servant to drive Ana around his house. Although Mr. Wang invites Marius to talk in his study.

"Ana .. to protect her, you need more than just a voice. Do you know that?" asked Mr. Wangs.

"I know. I was preparing for it," answered Marius confidently.

"Annual meetings of the board of commissioners will be held in two months. Don't worry about my support. I'll make sure you get it. Just prepare your secret weapon against the president of TMN Corp. I heard he'll get the board of commissioners to drop you if you refuse. I'd rather you lead DYNE than her."

"Thank you, uncle," said Marius who was finally able to breathe a little relieved.

"So, how? Did it work?" asked Ana as soon as they had entered the car. The driver who was with them had already run the car towards Marius' house.

But Marius answered nothing. He just looked at Ana, then went down to look at the necklace that Ana was wearing. He never thought that the necklace was a gift from his mother.

Marius' hand slowly grabbed the necklace's pendant. "When did Mom give it to you?" she asked.

"Hhmm .. 8th birthday if not wrong. At that time Mama Agnes came with Brother Adam," Ana said while recalling that time.

"Then .. the poem. How do you know that?" asked Marius again.

"Mama Agnes always read it to me whenever I played to her house as I remembered, and once while giving this necklace. It's a French poem. Because I'm in trouble, Mama Agnes reads it in English. What was? Is there a problem?"

Marius smiled looking at Ana's face which had now turned into worry again. Ana had no idea how her memory had just helped Marius. She kissed Ana's forehead, without explaining anything to her. Just smiling, that's all Marius did.

Given everything that happened that night, it made it feel like being close to his mother. She will never know, there are so many things her mother would have done for her and Ana if today had not happened. It was all that made him unable to stop smiling when he thought about it.

"Mama loved her daughter-in-law very much, yes" Marius cried out in joy.
