Babysitter For Rain

Babysitter For Rain
CHAPTER 40

"Iih, Nao. How did she eat it?," cried Ana who was suddenly thrust a large enough piece of meat by Naomi.

But, Naomi did not care about Ana's screams. He continued to push the food kegs clamping the sizable chunks of meat into Ana's mouth. "Gigit is already ... You're too skinny. Eat a lot of meat. Or maybe Marius won't let you eat?"

Ana could not say anything because Naomi filled her mouth with meat. While Naomi only laughed at Ana's enlarged cheeks because her mouth was starting to full.

From a distance, Marius and Doni were laughing at Naomi and Ana's behavior, before finally returning to enjoy the view of the beach at night. They were standing there talking about a lot of things.

"Ana really doesn't remember when you drove her home when she was made half drunk with her boss. Really, that kid" said Doni annoyed.

Marius just laughed a little in response.

"His drinking ability is very low. Not to mention he always forgot about the incident when he was drunk. Andre really took advantage of the weakness of my favorite child," continued Doni again.

"If you weren't the one who kept her every time Andre asked her, Ana might be .. ah, you don't dare to imagine it."

"Om almost said it to Ana. Why don't you want Ana to know?"

Marius laughed again. "Let her remember it for herself, Om," she said.

"What he regrets is why he forgot all his memories at the age of 4 years, but left his trauma to the snake? He even forgot who you were. Though, I still remember very well, once Agnes betrothed you to her, Ana always followed you wherever you went."

Marius' eyes turned to be full of regret recalling those times.

"All my fault, Om. If only that time I knew Ana was following me .. I would keep Ana at home. And those people won't take Ana either. Alya's aunt won't be sick from thinking about Ana. And Ana ... she doesn't need to experience that trauma."

Doni held onto Marius' shoulder gently. For years, he knew Marius was always haunted by his guilt. Even as he was about to be sent to France, Marius kept shouting for him to meet Ana. But, back then even Ana kept freaking out every look at Marius. Each time he sees Marius reminds himself of the events when he was taken by strangers and held captive in a remote forest with Marius.

The fear of Ana who was 4 years old at that time could only subside when the doctor gave her medicine and some therapy. But, from then on, Ana seemed to be locking the bad memories in her head. He forgot everything that happened at that time and also all his memories at the age of 4 years, including Marius in it. But leaving his trauma to the snake every time he saw it.

Even though they were young, both Ana and Marius, they both carried wounds from their childhood.

"Stop blaming yourself, Marius. Alya died of God's will. The illness he had suffered had long since eroded him. It's not your fault, son," said Doni trying to calm Marius down.

"When you were kidnapped it wasn't your fault either. They've been watching you for a long time. Even if it wasn't that day, they would come back the next day. They are the ones who should be blamed. Because involving a kid like you back then in Ernest's business fight .. It was a dirty game."

"I'm wrong for bringing this up. You should know, you still can't forget it. But, um ask, stop feeling guilty. Be it Om Doni or Aunt Alya, none of us blame you or Ernest and Agnes. Alya was worried about you even in her last moments."

Marius looked at the full moon hanging above the sky. "How could I forget her if Ana herself still remembered her, even if it was just her fear of snakes? The trauma was also a gift that Ana had to receive from the kidnappers" Marius said in his heart with a burning feeling in his heart.

"Marius, Ana is asleep," call Naomi in the distance.

Marius and Doni looked at Ana who was asleep on the table. Naomi kept playing her cheek.

"Let me take it up" said Marius, standing and approaching Ana.

He took Ana's arm slowly and placed it on her shoulder. Then, she easily carried Ana with both hands.

Upon arrival in the room, Marius put Ana down slowly. She made a blanket for Ana. Then, she sat down beside Ana, looking at the pretty face of Ana in her sleep.

Her fingers touched and gently caressed her cheeks. Ana reacts to Marius' touch. He squirmed small. Marius did not dare to bother him anymore.

Before he was about to leave, Marius kissed Ana's forehead slowly. Long enough for Marius to refuse to let go. But, he had to take it off, and let the girl sleep well tonight. "Bonne nuit et doux reve, mon amour," whispered Marius slowly.

When Marius went down Naomi was ready to follow Ana to her room. He saw Doni standing in front of Alya's headstone. Doni looks like he's talking about something.

Marius walked away from Doni as Naomi suggested. He also did not want to disturb Doni with his longing. And so is Alya who may be present at this time. Maybe right now they are letting go of their homesickness.

......................

"Are you not cold?" asked Marius to Ana who was standing looking at the beach with the beauty of the rising sun.

Ana was slightly surprised to hear Marius' sudden voice. Because he was alone before.

"I'm fine" Ana said, showing off a smile in the morning.

Marius picked up his black blazer that had been lying on the chair for the night. He opens it so that the blazer can envelop Ana.

"Eh, but .. you ... "

"Just use .. later you catch a cold. I'm fine."

"Oh .. thanks ..."

After which, the two enjoyed the scene before them in silence.

"Marius ...," call Ana gently.

"Hm ..."

"Thank you ..."

"For what?"

"Because .. has been looking after papa as long as I'm not with her."

"Om Doni is my family. I have an obligation to look after him. Don't think too much about it" Marius said as he gently ruffled Ana's hair.

"I'm the one who should be apologizing to you ... Because I ... came to lie to you."

Ana was speechless looking at Marius before finally giving her answer. "I was angry at first .. but not anymore."

Marius looked at him in wonder.

"I still want to thank you ... Because it has allowed me to meet Rain," Ana said with a gentle smile. He looked at Marius with his gaze that was also as gentle as his smile.

Marius was rendered speechless when he saw him. She was like immersed in the gentleness that Ana gave through her facial expression. The morning wind was no longer cold for Marius.

"Good morning ...," cried Naomi as if intentionally disperse the scenes of the views that are being done by her best friend. Because it's not Naomi if it's not.

"You surprised me, Nao ...," cried Ana annoyed.

"Hahaha .. was intentional."

"Naomi!"

Marius continued to pay attention to Ana who was currently chatting with Naomi. He could not stop staring at Ana. All she remembered at this moment was the smile Ana had just seen. And now he's so greedy to want to see her back.
