The morning sunlight shone quite brightly today. Seeming timid, the light entered Marius' room through the window curtain that opened slightly to hit Ana's eyes.
Ana wakes up and rubs her eyes gently to help both her eyes open and become more focused. And at that moment, he realized that he was not in his room.
Ana turns her head quickly to the opposite direction, and finds Marius' face right in front of her, too close that Ana feels the heat all over her face.
As he was about to move his body, something heavy felt overlapping his abdomen. It turned out that Marius' burly arm was on top of it.
Ana recalls, last night she helped Marius to his room to find that the man was drunk. But, Marius instead pulled it and held it until it could not move. Finally, he fell asleep here.
Ana immediately pulls Marius' hand and throws it, causing Marius to wake up. Slowly Marius opened his eyes and found Ana lying next to him.
"What are you doing in my room?" asked Marius. Slowly he pulled the other hand that was under Ana's head. He grimaced in pain from feeling too sore.
Ana is surprised to find that she is sleeping on Marius' arm all night.
"I-I should have asked. W-why did you pull me up last night?" asked Ana. This time he sat on Marius' bed.
"I pulled you? Did ya? I think I must have been drunk last night," said Marius trying to sit with his head.
"That's it .. Stop drinking! Especially near Rain's room. W-what if Rain saw you?," asked Ana who still did not believe she was in Marius' room at the moment.
"So, you didn't do anything last night, did you?" asked Marius.
"What?! I-I'm the one who should be asking," Ana said furiously.
"Seeing clearly to me, you're nothing to me" Marius said as he looked at Ana from the ground up, then looked into Ana's eyes.
Ana realizes she is still fully dressed. So is Marius who is still with his shirt that his arms are folded up and his trousers, just like last night when Ana found him.
Marius did nothing. But Marius' gaze made him uncomfortable. He immediately covered his body with both hands.
Marius held his head. "It seems like my head still feels heavy." Suddenly, he breaks himself beside Ana.
Ana is surprised Marius did that. Soon he stood up from Marius' bed.
"Listen, next time you're drunk, I-you go back by yourself. I-I don't want to help you anymore" Ana said and ran away from Marius' room.
Marius, who was still in a falling position, continued to look at Ana who was running. She smiled looking at the adorable behavior of Ana in her eyes.
Although it was only for a moment, Marius felt that the morning was pleasant as he woke up looking at Ana who was still asleep beside him.
"If every morning were like this" said Marius Lirih. Her sweet smile was still beautifully placed on her face.
................
After lunch, Rain wants to play in the playroom. Maybe because the afternoon weather was quite hot, so the little girl wanted to just relax in her playroom. So, from earlier Ana only accompanied him in the playroom.
Rain himself was drawing from earlier. Ana just sat down beside him to accompany him. Or, you could say .. is daydreaming.
Ever since Ana came out of Marius' room, the brains in her head kept turning Marius's face. From the moment Marius looked at him on his lap last night, to the moment he saw clearly the face of Marius sleeping beside him. It all felt so clear, when it happened hours ago.
If that was the case, Ana would suddenly feel heat all over her face. And his hands began to busy fanning his face.
"Sir Ana ...," call Rain suddenly.
"Ah, sorry to make Rain worry. Sis Ana is okay, really," said Ana with a sweet smile.
"Rain again drew what?" continued Ana again so Rain stopped worrying about her. He started to open the drawing book page by page.
Suddenly, Ana remembered something. A lot has happened lately, and Ana hasn't been able to say anything to Rain. Ana doesn't know how she feels, whether she's scared, sad, or what. Ana felt she had to ask him to speak.
"Rain ...," called Ana while holding both sides of the child's shoulder and leading her to face him.
Rain just followed Ana's lead. He faced Ana and looked at her with innocent looks from both eyes.
"Ehm ... Ana knew .... There had been something that made Rain afraid, agitated, or perhaps angry ...," Ana said gently so Rain could digest it well.
"Did Rain know who it was?" asked Ana.
Rain was silent. Her head lowered deep enough that Ana could not see her face. Therefore, Ana raised her face so that Ana could continue what she was going to say next.
"It's okay if Rain doesn't know" Ana said. "But what Ana wanted to say wasn't that."
Ana held onto Rain's face with both hands, then wiped away a tear that had just descended from Rain's two eyes.
"Sir Ana just wants Rain to know that the person Rain is currently afraid of won't bother Rain anymore. Daddy caught him last night."
Rain looked confused by what Ana said, but as much happiness as he could see from both eyes. Then, Ana lifted Rain's body, and sat him on his lap.
"And someday, if that person bullies Rain again, Sister Ana, Daddy, Nunu, and everyone else in this house will definitely protect Rain." Ana gently stroked the boy's hair.
"Really?," asked Rain who still looked a little scared.
"Sir Ana doesn't know what Rain has heard and what Rain has seen. But ...," Ana took a little bit of Rain's hair beside her ear, then placed it gently behind her ear.
"... no one would know what it was, if Rain hadn't told me. Ana wants to, Rain starts trying to tell her how Rain feels. Ana promised to listen to him."
Ana pulled out her little finger in front of Rain. The boy looked at her with doubt.
"But, they .. say ... Rain's a child ..," said Rain, but Ana knew what Rain would say next.
"Did Daddy, Sister Ana, and Nunu ever make Rain cry?"
Rain shook his head.
"Then, Rain just needs to trust Daddy, Ana, and Nunu. If we never say that, it means they're all lying."
"Daddy, Sister Ana, and Nunu, we all love Rain very much. We always expected Rain's happiness. So, Ana's convinced, Daddy would be sad if Rain listened more to others than Daddy."
Ana again showed her little finger after Rain was still hesitant to welcome her. Slowly, Rain raised his little finger and hooked it with Ana's little finger.
"From today, Ana promises to always listen to Rain tell her stories. As long as Rain promises to always tell me everything Rain feels, Rain sees, Rain hears, Rain wants."
Rain nodded his head, then the two threw their smiles at each other. Lastly, Ana hugs the little girl warmly, as if telling her that she will always protect her.
Meanwhile, outside, Marius was standing and leaning behind the playroom wall. Both of his hands were folded in front of his chest that was fielded. Marius was there long enough that he could listen to the talk of the two girls inside from beginning to end.
As she heard Rain laughing inside with Ana, she exhaled her leg. His smile might seem thin, but his heart was engulfed in great happiness.
