06. Mystical Animals
Looks like a trio of hunters out of the forest to fortify their hunt. Together they look also Lily who also just returned from collecting fungi and medicinal plants in the forest.
"It is surprising that this tool has good speed and accuracy. Not to mention seeing the shape is simple and easy to use" said Deuxter sounded amazed.
"What did you call this tool?" Ask Huebert.
"Crossbows. Crossbow. It was because of the shape of the crossbows horizontally" answered Nata who looks like he is piling soil and like a piece of root into a bamboo stem.
"Oh, crossbow? Makes sense"
"Although the distance may not be too far, but to hunt animals that are agile this tool can be very helpful" loujze said while observing a tool made of wood along the half of his arm with a small crossbow at the end.
"Well, the device is still an experiment. So maybe it still has to be adjusted again before it can really be worth taking a hunt" Aksa added on the sidelines of his activities to put charcoal used campfires into a bucket of water.
"So this tool can still be better?" Sounds like Loujze doesn't believe it.
"Are you guys working on a fix for this?" Tanya Deuxter seemed curious about what Aksa and Nata were up to.
"No. This is for Lily" Aksa replied.
"For me?" Lily was surprised to not guess.
"True, this is a container to cultivate mushrooms and vines so that Lily does not have to go back and forth to look for it into the forest" Aksa replied again while stirring a bucket of water and charcoal that now began to blacken.
"But actually I still don't understand why Lily collects mushrooms and medicinal herbs so often? Where have the mushrooms and medicinal plants been?" Aksa added later with a face like he was thinking about something strange.
"Can forest mushrooms and medicinal plants be cultivated?" Huebert asked after he was ready to skin the deer.
"After finding out the information about these fungi from the many scrolls we read, it seems like we can create an artificial habitat for the plants in the car" Nata explained.
"Did you eat all those mushrooms and herbs Lily? Is that some kind of youthful secret of yours?" Sela Aksa with rant her original question to Lily.
"What a concern" Lily said with a small smile without responding to Aksa's question.
"Cultivate it in a car? It seems like it has been a long time since we were astounded by the things made by you two" Loujze said.
"Well, that's because now we have a lot of free time and don't have scrolls and books to read"
"Oh, that's right"
They were in the forested suburb of Elbrasta, a week after they had left the Bartholomew family's residence for Baltra. But even without Lucia and Jean, they were given a new horse carriage bigger than before for the trip this time.
The train is supported by four wheels, the roof is no longer made of bamboo frame and cloth tent like the previous train, the roof is now no longer made of bamboo, but now the whole body of the carriage is made of neatly-pliturized tight wood with two doors and two windows like the chariot of the nobility.
The top of the roof can be used to put goods, so that it can leave a wider place in the train. They also provided food for seven people for one week.
But amid the journey of Aksa and Nata who are bored, aided by a trio of hunters and Val, began to remodel the horse carriage little by little. By adding serrations and simple mechanical devices to the wheels of the train connected to tools such as fans installed in the train. After noon, as they began to enter the savanna leaving the lips of the forest suddenly their entourage was startled by the noise from the front.
"What's that sound?" Aksa.
"Some people are fighting hyenas" Loujze replied after returning from confirming what was going on.
"Party Quest! Can we come closer and see it?" Seen Aksa is excited.
"Is it dangerous?" Nata asked who ignored Aksa's words.
"If it's not too close, I don't think it's going to dress" Huebert replied this time.
Then they continued their journey until shortly afterwards some people were seen in a standby position facing dozens of hyenas.
"Well, this is the first time I've seen a real fight since I got here" Aksa said.
"It seems they have a good leader. Coordination between his members looks good" Nata observed.
When it was seen that the mercenaries were able to push the hyena group backwards, it suddenly emerged from behind the bush where the hyne gathered. A very large hyena. Almost as big as the horse-drawn carriage of Aksa and Nata. It is darker in color and has a black horn on its head.
"Well, what animal is that?
"Oh, that's the hyena leader. The beast was called the Mystical Hyena"
"Why is it called Mystical Hyena? Can hyenas be magic?" Nata asked curiously while guessing.
"really. They include mystical animals" Deuxter replied.
"Huh? Did ya? Finally I can see the mystical animal" said Aksa who looks more excited.
"See the horn on his head that's like obsidian? That's the source of her magic power"
"Even animals can use Aks magic? We are lower in rank than animals" said Nata with a tone of nelangsa.
"Can they handle it?" Ask Aksa then.
"When they're numbers, I don't think it's gonna be a problem. All they need to do is cut off the horn first so that the animal cannot use its magic" Deuxter explained.
Amidst Aksa and Nata focusing on the explanation from Deuxter, suddenly a loud sound followed by a flash of light struck the savanna plains in front of the mercenaries.
"What was that?" Nata looked surprised.
"That's the lightning magic of the Mystic Hyena" said Loujze.
"What a surprise, we just witnessed a magic live Nat"
"Yes right. Just like in an illusion show. I thought the magic in this world was equivalent to the magic that Jean showed us back then, just to make the iron plates shine"
But suddenly the atmosphere turned gripping, when it appeared two Mystical Hyenas emerged from behind the bush.
"This will be a problem, the three mystic beasts are too much for them to handle. They will not survive" Deuxter said later.
"It should be time for them to escape. We are too" said Nata.
It seems to be too late for those mercenaries. The two Mystical Hyenas immediately jumped to close the line for the mercenaries to escape. They're surrounded.
