Adventure In The Dark
Tragedy 521 - The underground passageway

...***...

"Damn!" yoke Joe money immediately lifted Derek's body and led him towards the exit. Either way, Joe has to get Derek out of there. He must be able to save his sister.

Brakk!

One gate down. Joe got through it. He continued to run as fast as possible through the other two doors in front of him.

Just a little more, he thought as he could see the last three gates leading to the exit.

He hastened his steps. The doors were moving down, lower than their original position.

Brakk!

One door went down, the other two left.

Hang in. We're getting out of here as soon as we can! I-i promise.

Joe stepped as much as he could. The door in front of him continued to move down and almost squeezed him when he passed it.

Brakk!

One last door closed along with the door he had just passed through.

"No! Argh!" Joe groaned in annoyance.

What am I supposed to do? I need to get out of here as soon as possible! Joe's getting more upset because the door's closed.

He tried to find a way to get out of the room.

"Give up, Joe! You'll never get out of here! No, for a traitor like you!" Someone's voice on the alarm at him.

Joe looked up at the speaker in the corner of the wall.

Bzzt!

Joe attacked the object until it was destroyed by a shock from his electricity.

I can definitely get out! Joe clenched his hands. He soon found a way to get out of there with his sister.

Joe looked around.

Think, Joe. Think on!

His attention was immediately seized by the voice he heard. The sound came from the air vents in the room.

Oh, true! I recall. Every place in the building has three different entry points.

Main entrances are above ground, air vents, and underground passageways.

That means, I can use the underground passageway to get out. Moreover, there were not many people who knew about the underground passage.

I can use this.

Joe took Derek's body down. He immediately looked for a special button to open a hole into the underground passageway.

Joe pressed the button and pulled the cover quickly as he found what he was looking for.

Joe wiped the sweat that soaked his forehead.

He hurriedly lifted Derek's body and carried it on his back like before.

"We must have survived, I promise," murmured Joe who then jumped down and landed with both feet.

Bruk!

His body managed to arrive below safely. He looked to the left and right. All the underground passageways were as usual always quiet with no one to guard.

Good, thought. He immediately ran in the other direction of the hallway until he finally arrived at a door facing south.

Joe looked for a button to open it.

Drrt…

The wall shook again when the door opened. Once open, Joe can see the view outside the building that looks quiet in the middle of the night.

He immediately ran out of there.

On the other hand, at the top of the road, people were heard struggling to find Joe who had suddenly disappeared from the hallway where he was trapped.

"He's there!" shouted one of the guards who realized Joe was running towards the direction of the second gate.

"Cursue!" the others shouted while running after Joe.

Joe kept running.
