Adventure In The Dark
Tragedy 590 - Stage seven

...***...

"We're moving on to the next stage!"

"Good, prof."

The Evolab began to move changing the contents of the tube. Replacing the contents of the serum Evolgesysv-06 with the fourth version of the evolutionary serum, or Evolgesysv-04.

The bright green color that they had originally seen then changed to a light yellow color.

"Prof, J04N experienced the same reaction as the others." Evolab999 spoke with some anxiety.

"Lower the dose and keep a close eye on its progress."

"Good, prof." Evolab999 following Martin's request. He lowered the dose of the serum until the evolver with the code number J04N was stable again.

"Everything's stabilized, prof."

"good. Return the dose back!"

"So far, they've survived." Miles breathed a sigh of relief.

"We're moving on to the next stage."

"Good, prof."

The existing Evolabs began to prepare to start the next stage. But unexpectedly, two of the evolvers once again failed, right at the end of the sixth phase.

Because of the failure that occurred in the two evolvers, now only two more evolvers are left.

"Huft~" Miles and Martin sighed in frustration. They were actually getting more and more afraid of their efforts failing to save the remaining two evolvers.

"Now there really are only two more evolvers left," he murmured softly. The two stared at the remaining two tubes.

The two tubes contained a male, one with the code number T416312, and another one R31 or Rei.

The sixth phase is over. The Evolab continued the incubation period of the seventh phase, replacing the Evolgesysv-04 serum with the previous version, Evolgesysv-02. The yellow color changed to a bright red color.

"What's? Not anymore, please!" Martin and Miles approached Evolab999 with anxious faces.

"What's going on?" ask them while staring at the hologram screen.

From the screen they looked at, there seemed to be an unnatural reaction to the two remaining evolvers. They detect excessive heart rate changes.

The dips detected were firmer and more unstable than they had been before.

"Diminish dose!" said Martin. That was all they could do to make sure both of them remained safe.

"No! Don't." Don't." Miles holds.

"What?"

"See this! The activity detected here is different from previous ones, especially this one. R31 shows a different reaction than the others." Miles pointed at the screen.

"But if it continues to be forced in the same dose, it could die!"

"We wait a few more minutes and keep watching. In the meantime, prepare for the final phase."

"What?! You insane? Do you want them both to fail like everyone else?"

"No, I'm sure they'll survive. We saw for ourselves, how did it happen? When we lowered the dose, they got worse and eventually died."

"But if we continue to maintain the dosage, they will also die! Their bodies were not strong enough to contain the serum, so they showed a different reaction. Didn't we already know the sign from the beginning?"

"I told you, R31 had a different reaction. Didn't you see his heart condition? I have a good feeling about this."

"But it's only R31 that shows a distinctly different reaction. While T416312 only shows a little reaction that is almost similar to R31" said Martin.
