The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 107

"The name of the film is [500 Summer days]. This is a romantic comedy and they need one of our A lists for the lead role. I read a little bit of the script and it was pretty good. And it looks like they will be collaborating with Foxstar on this as well. At least that's what the rumors say. You know that it's hard to find reliable info on Foxstar these days."

Matthew calmly listened to Benjamin but his eyes were not calm. Anger was in his eyes and black lines formed on his forehead.

"Why are you telling me all this?" She asked.

"You know exactly why I told you this. The last time you made a fuss at a monthly meeting was because of Dream Vision and Will."

After Robert became a big star acting in [Sherlock Holmes], it caused Matthew to become very angry. He felt he had missed a great opportunity.

The thing MCA really wants is a big star and someone who could potentially be one of them has been taken from it right under its nose.

He even fired the agent who handled Robert.

Initially, he wanted to get Robert by filing a lawsuit. But after going through his lawyer, he realized that they would not be able to present a solid case and that it was too risky.

In the end, Matthew had denounced the management during the monthly meeting. To be honest, he knew his anger was not justified but he would never accept it.

Naturally, he was a stubborn man.

"I made a fuss because I didn't like what the kid was doing. He's in the industry because MCA bought his script but he doesn't know how to be grateful."

Benjamin found it hard to control his emotions hearing that. Matthew's nature was also a factor behind the fall of the MCA.

He has turned the core members of management into important ones because he dislikes them and he is very stubborn in some ways.

Hiding his emotions, Benjamin tried to persuade him.

"Now, he's trying to make sure the relationship between him and us doesn't reach a point where there's no solution. I think this role will be a perfect fit for Reagents and will help stabilize its position as an A-lister."

Norris' reagent is one of the few famous actors that MCA still owns. He has been through the ranks of Hollywood for years before cementing his place at the top.

Benjamin feels Tom's role will be a perfect fit for him and romantic comedies are always a safe venture in Hollywood.

"Ben, the lead role alone is not enough for MCA forgiveness. I'm not so easy and don't you think that you're siding too much with the kid. I know he's your friend's son, but don't forget who you're working for."

The words were spoken in a cold tone. Matthew was obviously not happy with Benjamin's attitude.

He was still angry that Benjamin arranged a meeting between Robert and Will. The only reason he has not fared the same as former agent Robert is because he has long worked at MCA and is well trusted.

Matthew still knew the importance of his skills and connections, making him control his anger towards him.

"I know who I work with very well." Benjamin shifted in his seat and said, "I'm just telling you because this can be a good effort for us. The last time we collaborated with Will, it gave us a lot of advantage and getting the enemy out of it was not a good thing. She is now a Hollywood star. We're lucky enough to have a good relationship with him."

Matthew softened his expression. The last box office collection [17 again] was 120 million dollars and has made a lot of profit from MCA.

And it's true that Will is considered a good connection thanks to his talent. He has earned millions of dollars with each of his projects.

"I know that well ..."

"In that case, I hope you agree I sent the Reagen profile to Dream Vision and held an audition. I feel after this movie, we can present Reagen as the face of MCA."

Benjamin said but Matthew did not focus on him. His eyes looked out the window and a thought loomed in his head.

'I can't let anyone walk over me without a big impact.'

Thinking that, a plan formed in his mind and he smiled.

"Okay, I'm not gonna have a problem with this. But during the contract negotiations, I want you to add something."

"What?"

Benjamin asked, having a bad feeling about this.

"You sure this looks good to me? It feels too flowery."

Robert asked, looking at himself in the mirror and feeling uncomfortable with his clothes. He is currently getting ready for his shoot.

Seeing himself wearing a shirt with all sorts of colors combined, he wondered how people would look at it.

"We can't do much about that. They pay you millions to wear them and advertise them. And the designer is used to the odd fashion choices that seem very famous."

Alvin, his agent said, standing beside him. He was a senior agent who had joined the DTA and was immediately given the role of working with Robert.

Compared to his former agency, it was a work environment that was a hundred times better for him.

Robert took a deep breath and closed his eyes. The moment she opened it, her body language slightly changed and she found herself more confident with the outfit.

'Clothes don't make me, I make clothes.'

He thinks in his heart.

Confidence - A thing he lost in himself before doing [Sherlock Holmes] but after the success of the film, he actually reinvented himself as an actor and a person.

"How's the filming schedule today?"

Taking off his shirt to try a new one, Robert asked his agent.

He is currently filming his next film [A Bullet to Kill].

After the initial audition was over, she started filming quickly, not wanting to waste any time. Previously, films were very rare for him and now that he had gotten the chance to become a lead in them, he wanted to make as many films as he could in the next 3-4 years.

"They were filming an indoor scene today, so we should reach 6 o'clock. It's midnight."

"Okay, let's finish this first."

"Is the schedule too difficult for you? We can cancel today if you want to take a leave of absence."

alvin said, knowing full well how much Robert has been working lately. As his popularity grew, many sponsorship deals came to him.

He has carefully looked at them and picked out a few of them, making Robert one of the few actors to make millions of dollars just by sponsoring deals.

"No, it's okay. I understand my character more and more every day. No need to rest."

"okay."

Robert shrugged and tried on another outfit.

The work was a lot but it was the best he had felt in a long time.

"How's the press release?"

Terry asked one of the editor-in-chief while cupping his hand. They're holding their last meeting before the book launch tomorrow.

"I finished it and sent it to several news agencies. I'm going with the title 'Fantasy Adventure that will make you want more'."

Jack, the editor-in-chief replied and Sarah, the junior editor sitting next to him opened her mouth.

"Bookstores have also told us to be ready to send more copies. They expect a good response."

"Let's see how it goes." Terry said before moving on to another topic. "How was the response from the author we sent the book?"

Usually, publishers will send books to well-known authors for review. Then, they will use their comments to market them.

"Most of them give good reviews. I included some of them in the press release as well. Internship franchise writer Hunter was very impressed with the book and even promoted it himself."

Jack said with an excited expression.

"Yes, but many authors also refuse to give reviews."

Sarah replied, sighing but Jake shook his head.

"Always be there. Some authors will only discriminate based on the fact that it is a children's fantasy novel and some are just busy."

Terry nodded his head.

"We've done everything from our side, so there's only a public reception left. I hope a lot of people buy that book."

"Did you call Will Evans and get him to agree to do some promotion?"

Initially, Warden Books had to be a little rushed to release his book because Will wanted to publish it as quickly as possible and also because no well-known authors were releasing their book at this point.

It was a safe period.

What's more, Will's busy schedule keeps him from promoting his book too much.

"Yes, he said he handled a few things lately but he could do some interviews to promote his book and go to talk shows and radio shows.
