The surprised expression on her was precious as she stuttered slightly with the movie ticket and popcorn in her hand.
"Why is this squirrel here?"
Ben had asked her to buy three tickets for the film, but she did not mention who the third person was.
Jennifer frowned at Benjamin, clearly displeased.
A faint smile involuntarily formed on Will's face after hearing a nickname he had not heard since his reincarnation.
"This is the movie," Benjamin replied briefly, saying in a sharp tone, "Why are you acting like this? Aren't you excited to see that movie?"
"You?" Will asked, obviously surprised. As far as he can remember, he didn't like horror movies in particular.
Jennifer tried to control her facial expression as she replied, trying to sound majestic, "I just want to buy a ticket so that at least your movie makes a few bucks."
Ben frowned in annoyance and reprimanded her, "Is this the way to speak? I've taught you better."
Will just chuckles at seeing his behavior; this personality makes it impossible for – or him in the past – to be friends with Jenny.
Afterwards, they simply walked inside the theater, and a movie poster was taped at the entrance.
The poster was entirely dark, with a close-up image of June's upper face, her eyes frightened with a torch-like light shining down on her face. The other part of the poster is covered in a dark forest of trees, with the following text on it, just below the section said to have won the most innovative film award at the annual film festival.
[In October 1994, three students disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville, Maryland, while filming a documentary…
A year later, their footage was found.
The Blair Witch Project ]
There is a cross in front of the text.
Benjamin, who saw the poster, was impressed and told Will that this kind of poster would be marketed well even providing a vague explanation of what the film would look like.
Then he asked about the cross, and Will said he would find out after watching the movie.
They entered the theater. It was a medium-sized theater with about 1200 seats. Because he often visited this theater, his chair could be accepted with the big screen.
The strange thing about this 1200-seat theater is that there is not half of the seats filled. It seemed, at most only one-third of the seats were occupied by spectators.
Jenny, who saw this, could not help but frown. It's hard to say what's more upsetting, looking at the empty seats for Will's movie or the fact that he'll be watching the genre he's most afraid of.
"Ahaha, it's okay, Will. Don't sad. This is just your first movie; most people can't even come here. You are still young, and there will be plenty of opportunities for you in the near future. "
Ben tries to comfort Will with encouraging words, though he doesn't really lie about the last part.
"Don't worry, Uncle Ben. In my mind, tonight would be the start of the best commercial for the film because, after tonight, the real word of mouth will begin."
Will said in an optimistic tone that did not sound arrogant or overconfident. He knew that his uncle was trying to cheer him up, but he already knew that the movie would go well at the end of the week, not on the first day.
"That's great. You have the right mentality. Do not despair with small setbacks and go ahead with a positive mindset. Success will be yours sooner or later."
comment Ben. He's been very happy with Will lately, who seems like a different person and shows a lot of maturity for a kid his age. Although some of his decisions seem rushed, Ben cannot take them for granted because he has learned from his lessons that Will is not an ordinary, grumpy kid.
"Yes, sure, Mr. Chipmunk will go and horrendous the world with his old camera."
Although Jennifer said that sarcastically, her face showed a different reaction as if pleased with Will's attitude.
Soon, they all sat in their seats, with Will on the right, Ben in the middle, and Jenny on the left.
The full duration of the film was about eighty minutes. And Will enjoyed the whole movie.no, he enjoyed the expression of terror, panting, teary eyes, he said, and the shaken faces of the audience throughout the screening as they even curled up in the seats in fear.
Although she could not see Jennifer's expression, given the fact that she was afraid of mere spiders, the Blair Witch Project should have been at a higher level than that.
As for the others, the audience was so frightened that they did not even leave the theater until the entire credits ended and the lights were turned on.
…
"Dude, I'm not going anywhere near the woods" said a man who walked right in front of Will as they exited the theater to his friend.
"The forest? Fuck it, I'm not going anywhere near that damn tree. This shit is so scary, man." Answer his friend while rubbing his own forehead.
"I'm really goosebumps, man; my legs are on the chair all the time."
Another person added, "To be honest, the only part that scares me is the last shot. I'm a little nauseous."
"That's because you're allergic to art." The first person looked at him, "This film is true art."
"Yes, I'll go home and tell everyone about it. Shit, this shit is scary."
"I know, right, shit! Why are we the only ones who are scared to death!"
"Dude, that flash of Blair Witch..."
"Don't call it that! That damn scene made my heart stop!"
"Yes, very unique. I don't think there's a movie like this, do I?"
"I think there was about thirty years ago, but I think this one took the cake."
"Yes, this movie gives me goosebumps. I can't remember the last time I was so scared."
"Maybe when you see your face in the morning?"
"Fuck you!"
"That would be kind of disgusting."
"..."
…
With Jennifer and Uncle Ben, Will has arrived at the parking lot by now, and Uncle Ben is talking about the movie.
"...Attractively. Yeah, that's the word I'm going to use for it" said Uncle Ben.
Will was a little surprised. The adjective 'Interesting' is not a word usually used to describe the movie The Blair Witch Project.
"You didn't find it... scary?" will ask.
"Thooky?" Uncle Ben chuckled, "Hehe, Will, did you know thirty years ago, when a movie used the same technique, your father and I went together to watch it. We both used to go see movies, especially horror ones."
"Oh? Are you used to this genre?"
"Um, actually, we use a simple trick to not be afraid."
Meanwhile, Jennifer unlocks the car and opens the backseat door, gesturing for Uncle Ben to sit down. When Uncle Ben comes in, Will will follow, but he closes the door and points to the front door.
"I won't be your driver."
Will shrugged and sat in the front seat, next to the driver's seat.
Jeniffer looked around for a moment and swallowed his saliva. He quickly ran over, took the driver's seat, and heaved a sigh of relief while inserting the key.
Will glanced at him for a moment then asked Uncle Ben while wearing a seatbelt, "What kind of a trick?"
"One of them is, we'll just imagine the director yelling "Cut" and all the studio lights go straight on while the camera moves to reveal the set."
"Oh? That work all the time?"
"Well, not always. But the second trick always works."
"Dad!" Jennifer scowled in the rearview mirror in the car, "See your language." He added while narrowing his eyes to his father and then focusing back on driving as they left the theater.
Uncle Ben ignored him and continued to say, "The second trick is to find something funny. No matter how scary the scene is, if you can find one comedic moment in it, all that fear will be gone."
"Oh?" Will nodded, "I'll try."
"Haha," Uncle Ben laughed. "Try it. But yes, of all things, I can be sure of one thing. Your film will raise the bar across the horror genre."
Will smiled, "Thank you, Uncle."
Uncle Ben smiled and asked about questions regarding the shooting process and any issues he was having.
About ten minutes later…
"Hahaha, I'm sure those bastards at Foxstar will now lose their sleep because your movie made a lot of money." Uncle Ben laughed.
Will smiles. He remembers the day he visited Foxstar Studios to make them distributors for his film, but was ultimately vehemently rejected.
"Well, things are getting better."
The deal he got later with Wheel Works Studios was not something he could negotiate with Forster.
'If everything goes well, I will soon have enough funds to ...'
Just then, the car stopped, pulling Will out of his mind.
"Dad, we're here," Jennifer spoke.
Uncle Ben took off his seatbelt from the back seat and said, "Will, why don't you come? Your aunt must have cooked something nice."
Will thought for a moment and replied, "I can't refuse aunt's cooking."
"Hahaha," Uncle Ben smiled as the security guard opened the gate, and Jennifer drove her car in.
As the car entered the estate, Will recalled something, and turned his head towards Uncle Ben; he asked, "Uncle, you told me that I'll get a call from someone? Who are you talking about?"
