The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 170

Working with beginners is always exhausting for directors, even if they are talented. In Will's case, he had to pretty much experience this. In [Sherlock Holmes], Robert has a lot of experience working in movies but never in a significant role.

And in [Liberty city], Leo was trained and mentored by Robert, and his talent was immense. The two cases were not similar to [Friends].

It was because most actors had never worked on a set before, and they felt quite nervous with the entire audience directly in their minds.

Will had to pay special attention in some scenes to calm their nerves. And then, over time, the actors improved quite a lot.

After a few days, the crew got used to it and tried to do each scene as smoothly as possible. At first, they have a problem not knowing the personality of the role they play, but then, the character becomes a part of them. Will feels it through their dialogue and acting, and the main reason is how adaptive they are as actors.

The next scene is Ross and Monica's parents being introduced to the show for the first time. The scene was hilarious, considering how perfect they expected Monica to be.

“So, the character personality has been explained before, but I will go again. Judy Geller was someone who greatly influenced Monica. He could be considered as someone who cheerfully criticized Monica. From Monica's body parts to everything, if she sees anything less, she'll make fun of her,” Will explained.

The actors that Will completed for Judy and Jack Geller are two actors who are both experienced in acting in TV shows. Marina Walt, who plays Judy Geller, is funny despite meeting in person, and Frank James, who was chosen to be Jack Geller, appears to be in his 40s and has a personality similar to Jack's. They are A-list actors.

They both have a reputation for being funny and making it easier for directors to work in their fields, namely TV shows - sitcoms.

"Okay, are we ready?" will ask.

Everyone, including Monica, Ross, Judy, and Jack, agrees with Will. He walked back to get his seat on the chair labeled 'Director' right in front of the screen and prepared to start the scene.

"Quiet on set, please," Will ordered while everyone, including the people present as live audiences, fell silent.

After three-four orders, he finally gave up on starting the scene.

"action!"

“Oh, Martha Ludwin's daughter will call you,” Judy said and tasted a snack. “Mmm! What does curry taste like?” She asked.

"Come," said Monica very seriously, but everyone laughed.

“Mmm!”

“A-I think they're great! I, I really did, ” Ross said in support of his sister. Ross leaned over to taste what his sister made.

“Do you remember the Ludwig family? The big one has something for you, doesn't it?” Jack, sitting with his feet on top of the others, asked Ross. Ross stood up with a low grunt, and his mother answered for him.

"They all have something for her" Jude said.

The camera captures how arrogant Jude is, and then the camera focuses on Ross, who is sitting next to his father on the sofa.

“Ah, Ma..” Ross said, chewing on what he ate earlier.

"Camera 02, Monica," the cinematographer says while focusing the camera on Monica.

"Sorry, why did this girl call me?" Monica said while working on the dishes she made.

Judy turned to look at Monica.

“Oh, he just graduated, and he wants to be something in cooking, food, or. Anyway, I told her you had a restaurant-”

“No Ma'am, I don't have a restaurant, I work in a restaurant,” Monica said annoyedly, trying to correct her. His facial features were on target, and Will was satisfied.

“Yeah, they don't need to know that ..” Monica shook her head in annoyance while Judy started patting the same pillow Monica had patted a few times before.

"Ross, can you come and help me with spaghetti?" Monica asked, already upset by how her mother nagged.

"Yes" said Ross and walked around to approach his sister.

“Oh, we eat spaghetti! That's.... Easy,” Judy who heard that said in a sarcastic tone. The audience laughed at how he was.

“I know this will sound very selfish, but do you plan to bring up all the baby-lesbian problems? Because I thought it might take a little heat away from me. ” Said Monica, already feeling annoyed and uncomfortable.

"Cut!" Will said as he stopped filming for a bit. Taking some time, he watched the clip over and over to see if there were any flaws or something was missing to add.

“It was the perfect shot, everyone; break five, and we'll do the dinner talk scene, ” Will said as he disbanded the actors from their positions.

During the break, they set the dining table, and the actors repeated their dialogue over and over again. Jake, who has the most dialogue, has to go the extra mile to remember it. Since he was an experienced actor, he felt like it was a piece of cake for him.

"Ready?" "action!" Everyone went back to their respective positions, but now the Gellers were at the dinner table.

The shot begins with Jack rolling his spaghetti around the fork.

"I won't tell you what they spent on that wedding.but forty thousand dollars is a lot!" yell Jack Geller.

"Well, at least he had a chance to leave a man at the altar .." Judy said with sarcasm, hinting at something.

"What do you mean?" Monica asked, completely offended.

"There's nothing! It's an expression." Judy said in a loud tone.

“No, no,”

“Don't listen to your mother. You are independent, and you always are! Even when you were a kid, and you were fat, and you had no friends, you were fine! And you will read for yourself in your room, and your puzzles.” Jack begins to talk about Monica's sad past.

It was clear from Monica's expression that she wasn't entirely happy with the whole situation as they thought.

"Cut!" Will stopped the camera. “Camera fully focused on Monica. Can you give me more emotion? More anger, please, and I want a little sarcastic laugh at the end. Can we repeat it? The laugh should die in a split second as if almost nothing, ”

"Yes, okay ... Sure," Monica replied while the others nodded.

The scene was harder to cover up than Will thought. They had to do it four times before getting the perfect scene. There were slight errors in Will's placement that caught on while watching, things like out-of-place emotions or taking the wrong pause while repeating his sentence. Sometimes a wrong pause gives an unfunny expression to the scene. Therefore due to all these situations, Will finally gets a chance. He was satisfied with the fifth take.

Ross pulled his hand while wanting to reveal the truth,

"okay! Okay." Okay." She looked at her parents, “Listen, I, uh-I realize you're wondering what really happened between me and Carol, and, so, here's the deal. Carol is a lesbian. He lives with a woman named Susan. She's pregnant with my son, and she and Susan are going to raise her baby,”

Everyone in the audience laughed at that expression.

-

'The Legends' is a top music band that creates music and theme songs for many famous shows. Will thought of hiring them to create the theme song [Friends]. It was a whole piece of art that could make all the fans [friends] hum or sing along. Therefore, he wanted to do it right, so Will took action and tried to structure it.

He has to go through a lot while talking to the band and studio and adjust each instrument every once in a while. Although the small strings were played differently, Will demanded to change them.

Will, Oliver, the music producer; Liam, who sings and Joseph, the editor, sit in front of the final product they make.

"Let's go" said Joseph, and the music began to sound.

So no one told you that life would be like this

Your job is a joke, you're broke

PRAYER of your love life

It's like you're always stuck in the second tooth

When it is not yet your day, your week, your month

Or even your year, but

I'll be here for you

(When it starts raining)

I'll be here for you

(Like I've been there before)

I'll be here for you

(Because you are there for me too)

Will stopped the song there.

“Can we reduce the volume of the sentence 'When it starts raining'? I mentioned earlier as well, that I want them to add the main voice in the background. Also, can we make four pats at the beginning instead of five?”

“Oh yes, sir, sorry, I was wrong. I remember you stressing the clap; I'll edit it,” Joseph said and started doing something on his computer.

In the original theme song, the clap was iconic. Four pats took a sizable turn that was not entirely intentional when music engineers tried to compose them. It was just the producers trying to put the finishing touches to the song, and near the beginning of the song, according to their first plan, it was supposed to fill the drums. It was a super short drum solo that filled the gap between musical phrases.

But because they could not find the drum stuffing that had been recorded, the recording technician came up with the idea to do an applause.

Since Will was a fan of [Friends], he couldn't let the mistake of five pats happen in the beginning.
