The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 140

Will must exert tremendous determination not to spout harsh words when he hears the name of the film and the person who will direct it.

He thought that if actors and actresses who were famous in the previous reality were also present in this reality, then there was nothing extraordinary about a Director who also appeared on his radar.

She could see that June was somewhat paying attention to her reaction and would ask questions. Shaking his head, he wiped the small wine spilled from the corner of his mouth with a napkin and looked at June.

He looked at her questioningly and asked, "Have you heard about director James Cameron from somewhere before? Have you seen the movie?"

After thinking for a moment, Will replied, "I've never seen his work in the industry, but I've heard of him. He is a talented director. I want to see what he does with the movie. Whatisit? about it? Can I see the script later?"

June nodded, removing her reaction from her mind. He took a sip of his wine and replied, "Well, I really like the script. It was well written. As far as I can understand the script, this is a sci-fi action film with a cyborg robot, called The Terminator, who travels back in time to kill a woman, Sarah Conner. I will play his part. After all, Sarah's son was leading the fight against an Overlord AI named Skynet. I'll show you the script later if you want."

Will nodded and asked, "What do you think of the director?"

June looked at Will suspiciously before she replied, "Well, he's old, and I think he's pretty excited, if not more, about his job, like you. Unfortunately, I think he takes it to an extreme. Based on his previous history, I would also say that he was a little careless. He divorced his wife, sold his house, and there seems to be more to this kind of thing, just for this single movie."

Will nodded as he thought about the description he gave. From a certain point of view, he could see how people would describe James Cameron as reckless. However, he knows that he is talented and The Terminator has the potential to become a multi-billion dollar blockbuster story if done right.

In Will's previous reality, The Terminator stands as one of the most important endeavors of his era. It stands as a monumental achievement for who and what was introduced to modern filmmaking. But it does not diminish the entertainment value attached to it. In 1984, Hollywood had never really seen a film of the caliber of The Terminator. Replacing it in the era of CGI and modern technology and still maintaining its thrilling realistic factors while captivating the audience will be an uphill task for James Cameron.

The film was so well received in its time that it evolved into its own franchise, with some ties to various other pop cultures, such as comics and other shows. Skynet was the name that defined Artificial Intelligence for decades and led to many conspiracy theories that arose in its name. Only the development of more advanced forms of technology and time have eased the fears posed by Artificial Intelligence and the Robot rebellion.

The T-800 and T-1000 practically became household names at one point.

Will shook his head and said, "Well, if the script is as good as you say, then a good director might be able to do it."

June nodded but said, "This film is still in its early pre-production stage. I think Mr. Cameron is still looking for more funding. Based on the script, it will take a lot of computer work and CGI, and you know how expensive it is. Are you thinking about investing in it?"

Will looked at June and asked, "What makes you think that?"

June pointed her head at the wine and said, "Well, your reaction was after hearing the director's name, so I thought you were interested in the film."

June thought about her question and said, "Well, that must be an interesting movie. It depends on whether you want to be involved in a project that is not written by yourself. You wrote all your movies up until now. However, at the same time, I think this is an opportunity for you to diversify and potentially be part of a good project. As you said before, you want to produce more creative movies for Hollywood. Looks like it's a good opportunity to achieve that goal, with just a few hands on approach this time."

Will nodded as he took another sip of his wine and said, "Well, I'll think about it after seeing the script. And I also want to meet the director. I want to see what he looks like and whether he accepts third-party investors in his film."

June nodded and returned to her meal after saying, "Alright, I'll have John send you my copy. You can also help me practice dialogue later if you're ready."

Will smiled at her and said, "Of course, I'll help you as much as I can." Placing his hand on top of his hand and gently squeezing it.

She smiled in response, and the two continued to enjoy their date. They soon finish their meal and decide to take the scenic route back to the pier to board their harbor to return to their cruise ship and enjoy their night on the calm sea one same other.

After much fanfare and grandeur, the cast, crew, and media took their seats inside the theater that was part of The Palais des Festivals et des Congres, the studio said, convention center where the Cannes Film Festival is held.

Many prominent media members and celebrities have arrived for the film, which has been horrendous due to the combination of duo Will Evans, Hollywood's brightest new star, and Lucas Amspoker, the military's leading action film director.

The media is also excited to be re-introduced to new talents in the name of Elijah Thomas and Renly Warren. They were also pleased with rumors of Michael Robert Elrod's involvement in the film, though his absence on the show has left many members of the media disappointed.

June sits next to Will in the theater gallery. He is also excited to witness one of Will's other works.

The film's director, Lucas Amspoker, sits in the next gallery with Elijah and Renly. She was overjoyed by the final product, even after watching it earlier at the company's film screening with Will and Amanda in Los Angeles.

Elijah and Renly were in the same mood. They feel very proud of their work. Their tours across Europe with various modeling agencies have provided many benefits to them.

The media sat in the lower gallery, and there was an aura of general anticipation in the air among everyone present. They included many critics who wanted to sample another Will Evans masterpiece, and they became impatient, anxiously waiting for the film to begin.

They don't have to wait long. As the cinema lights dimmed, the screen displayed the Giant Dream Vision Studios Logo, with the camera pointing off into the distance. It faded slowly, and was replaced by the logo of ICM, the film distributor, which was again replaced by a single line stating "A Will Evans and Lucas Amspoker Presentation" that was slowly replaced by the last title stating April 6, below it. The larger font was written 1917.

It was too slow to give way to a beautiful shot of a green grassy field, which was covered in yellow and white flowers. Later, the shot was enlarged and showed that two soldiers in World War 1 uniforms were in a field near a tree and were resting with their eyes closed. As the audience quickly identified the two soldiers, their attention was finally captivated on the screen as the film began to play.
