The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 139

Cannes is one of the most popular cities on the French Riviera.

Its coast, Mediterranean climate, and outstanding geographical location near Nice, Monaco, and Saint-Tropez attract around three million visitors from around the world each year.

Of course, when it comes to Cannes, we definitely think about the International Film Festival and la Croisette, an unmissable waterfront promenade. An English politician and writer, Lord Henry Brougham, fell in love with the city in 1834 and later introduced it to his colleagues.

Today, Cannes is no longer the fishing village it once was. In contrast, the film capital is known worldwide for its prestigious trade shows and luxury hotels (Le Martinez, le Carlton.) frequented by movie stars and other wealthy tourists. At Cannes, the famous Palais des Festival holds a red carpet every year for the stars of world cinema.

This is where the International Cannes Film Festival will be held. Will has just arrived with June and her other crew in the beautiful Mediterranean city and has booked a cruise for himself and June for the night. They want peace and quiet, away from crowded hotels and beaches, while enjoying themselves fully in the city and far away.

They have all received invitations to prestigious events and are here for the event. The new Dream Vision Studio [1917] film premiered the following day, and Director Lucas Amspoker, who arrived ahead of schedule, was overjoyed. For Renly and Elijah, the film will mark their debut in Hollywood, and fortunately for the premiere during the prestigious event, they are certainly very happy.

Amanda has chosen to stay in Los Angeles. She is a single mother, who wants to enjoy time with her children, and wants to get some work done while most of the Studio's upper echelons are away on vacation.

Will is confident that [1917] will sweep away many of the awards here, and he hopes 'Palme d'Or' will be one of them. The film did win seven awards at the BAFTA film festival in previous reality, so she is looking forward to its screening here.

"Are you nervous? It doesn't have to be. The movie will be great." June said to Will as they exited the jet they used to arrive in France. Plus, we're here in Cannes; you need to relax. Why don't we go on a cruise, and eat, then we can drive around town for a bit?" He said, squeezing Will's hand.

In fact, he was a bit nervous, because despite being convinced and confident about the film, due to its accredited nature from his previous life, there was always a disturbing sense of uncertainty left in his mind. She appreciates the support June has shown her.

He smiled at her and said, "Just some nervousness, not much." And helped her get into the car that was waiting for them on the airport runway where they arrived. Their customs and regulations should be done privately away from the general public using the airport.

He can't wait to enjoy his time at the festival.

Strolling the allees de la liberte with June, she could see the bustle of the city, as it became more crowded than usual due to the increasing celebrity presence in the city. It was a surprise that no one had recognized him or June yet. But he did not want to see the horse present in his mouth and decided to enjoy the moment.

"You've lost all nervousness about tomorrow's premiere. That nice. I'm glad I joined you on this journey" June said as they walked down the street, admiring the city streets and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.

"Yes, this brings me back to [The Blair Witch Project], it has also premiered at a film festival. We were also very nervous at the time. The whole idea of the marketing stunt we pulled back then has given me so much anxiety; it's kind of the same now. But, a little watered." Will said as he guided her to where he knew the nice restaurant he had booked for that night.

She smiled lovingly at the memories, "Yes, it was a very pleasant photo shoot. We had a lot of good things with the filming and during the release." He said as they reached the end of the road and waited at the intersection.

Will gently grabs her hand and guides her down several narrow streets, and they reach a strange little place in the heart of the city, named "Gusti Italiani".

"Italian Restaurant in France?" June commented.

"To be honest, I've heard that Paris has some of the best Italian food and restaurants in the world." Will shrugged his shoulders.

The man who looked at Will, widened his eyes as he recognized the star director but slowly regained his composure. He nodded to Will and June and said, "Oui s'il te plait. Attendez un instant, et je verifierai notre liste de reservation." and check his computer, to find the name in the list "Ah oui. Une table pour deux, oui ? Suis-moi s'il te webbing."

He guided them inside the restaurant to a reserved seat and handed them a menu for them to peruse.

"When did you speak French?" June asks, not knowing that Will knows the language.

"Oh, don't you know? They taught it as an extra language at my university. I think it's a wonderful language to know how to speak, so it's stuck." Will replied nonchalantly.

June smiled at him, once again impressed by him. "It's a beautiful language, right."

The waiter returned a moment later and said in clear English, with only a slight accent, as he placed the warm tableware on the table, pour a glass of water for each of them, and put the bread on the table, "Good night, Mr. Evans, I'm Angelo, I'll serve you today. Hope you have fun in Cannes and at the festival. Would you like a drink to start?"

Will looked at the attendant, "Good night Angelo; Cannes is a wonderful destination, some Vernaccia in San Gimignano would be a good start for us."

Angelo nodded and asked with a smile, "And do you want more time to decide on your food choices? Or are you ready to order?"

Will looked at June, who nodded, then said, "I want Risotto ai Frutti in the mare along with the D'Angleo grigliate constellation, it will be a lot of fun."

Angelo writes Will's command and turns to June. "And what about you, Mademoiselle?"

June looked at the menu and finally said, "I want Risotto ai Frutti in Funghi, with the tagliata in Manzo."

Angelo wrote down the order they chose and smiled at them both. "I'll bring you your food for a while; please contact me anytime during your stay with us." He said, bow a little and leave.

The two sat down and talked for a while while waiting for the food to arrive.

In less than a few minutes, Angelo returned to bring them the wine of their choice.

They talked amongst themselves while sipping their wine. Their conversation slowly turns to June's latest project and her encounter with a hot-tempered European film director.

"Oh, I was scared when I opened the door. I have gripped my pepper spray so tightly that I am sure that I will make the bottle dent. Then we talked for a while, and the old director said that he was impressed with me. acting and performance; he said he wanted me to work on his new project. Apparently, John said that he recently diversified into a commercial film, and he took a big risk. I still have some doubts about everything but reading the script, I really like it. I think it would be a good movie if he did it right" June said.

Will listens, mesmerized by the story he tells, and eventually Will asks, "Who is this director? What's the title of the movie."

The answer he received shocked him to the point. "Oh, it's Director James Cameron, and he's making a science fiction film called Terminator."
