The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 11

On her laptop, June is watching a movie Will recommended for her.

[Official of Mental Hospital]

It was a horror movie released 30 years ago, and the quality was very poor. But now, June had actually invested in it.

This was never the case with any other horror movie he had watched. Maybe because of the first-person narrative?

It's just that he couldn't help but clutch his teddy bear tightly in his arms as the movie progresses to *******.

On the screen, a girl frantically ran through the hallway, with the screen shaking as she ran. The creepy sound effects came from the background.

Then came the sound of someone chasing him—with menacing laughter and slow footsteps.

All that was enough to make June's heart beat fast, and as the girl fell, she shouted loudly.

A bloody fingerprint appeared on the screen as the figure of the janitor finally appeared. Seeing her smile, June's soul almost left her body.

The movie ends then, and he hastily turns off his laptop and turns on the lights. He had a feeling that he would not be able to sleep if he turned off the lights tonight.

After he calmed down, he slowly muttered.

"He's right... Will's right. This could really work."

He stood up from his bed and went to his wardrobe. Taking out the dress she could wear tomorrow to meet her, she thought of the young director she met today.

'His ideas sound crazy, but I feel he can really make it with them.'

He smiled, thinking about it.

In his heart, he had a feeling that perhaps, his time had come. He would become famous one way or another.

And Will will pave the way for her.

* * *

In the morning, Will returns to his desk, writing notes to use during the filming of [the Blair witch project].

During the shoot, he would not have time to think about each frame from the start, so it was better to take notes. After all, this would be her first time being a director; she did not want to mess it up no matter what.

That's why he's doodling how they're going to shoot every frame.

Even though the picture was bad, it was still enough to understand. In [the Blair witch project], she would handle most things.

He is a director, screenwriter and editor. If he can find some people who can help him, it will be fun.

"Perhaps, I should ask Uncle Charles."

He thought and at that moment, his phone rang. He picked it up, smiling at the caller's name.

"Hello, June. So, how's the movie?"

- Scary. I can't sleep well, thank you. I even lighted the lights all night. But now I understand your point.

"Are you going to audition?"

- I will definitely. I've spoken to my agent, and to be honest, he's not happy and constantly tells me to change my opinion, but I don't care. I really want to be a part of this project.

"It's nice to join. However, you must pass the audition. Otherwise, the role will be given to others.

Will chuckled, and a confident voice came out from the other side.

don't worry, I will!

They talked for longer, and after that, Will called her to his apartment.

. . .

Half an hour later, Will heard a knock on the door. He remembered the bell was broken, and he hadn't fixed it.

Shaking his head, he went to the door and opened it. June stood there in casual clothes.

"Hello, come in."

June entered the small house and looked around. Although it was small, it was clean, and everything seemed to be in place.

"Wow, the upcoming director must have a big apartment."

June commented seductively.

"Looking apartment."

"Are you sure you have enough money to at least produce the entire film?"

He asked skeptically. With Will, he could never let his emotions relax. Sometimes he seemed like his ticket to becoming a star; other times, he seemed to like his ticket to hell.

He chuckles at himself and at his nervousness. Since he had decided to work with her on this film, he would see her no matter if his ship sank or sailed.

"Let's sit down."

Will pointed towards the sofa he had laid for him.

June sat down without complaining. Will began to tell me about how he planned to work on the film.

From the beginning of the film about how three friends will go filming a documentary about The Blair Witch and how each of them will disappear slowly at the end of the story.

He explained how 'The Recording Technique Found' can make things seem so realistic and interesting.

This time, June did not complain. He was already so scared because of the movie he watched yesterday that he couldn't even sleep well.

As he continued, he talked about how he needed to assemble the crew, and he would start tomorrow.

June immediately agreed as she was confident in her experience and practice over the years.

He told her to accompany him at the rest of the audition as well, since they were already acquaintances.

Then he told her to accompany him to the antique shop. He's confused about it.

"We'll get a camcorder from 1994 or 1995 to make it feel real. Later, if the movie succeeds, we can make a profit just by selling the camcorder."

June could not help but admire the young director's genius. Not only is he a screenwriter, but also a director and a business-minded person.

His appreciation for Will grew every second.

After that, they went to the antique shop.

They did find a camcorder from 1994, but the shopkeeper tried to sell it for $3k, saying such things are a relic of the past.

After much bargaining, Will lowered it to $1700. The shopkeeper will not drop a dime after $1700, so Will will have to buy it right then and there.

June only fell silent during the bargaining and buying process.

His opinion of Will constantly changes, from a normal young man to a screenwriter to a director, to a very poor director, to a bargaining uncle.

He has so many sides in him that each side looks funny, unreasonable, and refreshing at the same time.

After the purchase is complete, Will and June decide to split up and arrange a time and place to meet tomorrow.

Will went straight home after that and recorded all the money he spent up until now, including the money he used for clothes, a haircut, and a restaurant.

He added camcorder buying as a business purchase. After that, he opened the system screen.

He had already browsed through the system and found everything was quite expensive, but not too expensive.

He decided to spend his money on two things.

[Advanced Verses]

Types - Skills

Cost - 40,000 Points of Fame

[Starter Level Acting]

Types - Skills

Cost - 5,000 Points of Fame

He bought both skills for a total of 45k FP, leaving him with 5k FP which he decided to stick with.

Various information filled his head, and he even felt that he had gained experience directing and acting, even though he had obviously never directed or acted before.

Even though he could have bought directing skills, since he was a young and new director, there would have been times where he would have faced questions like 'If you think acting is easy, then, why don't you show it to us'.

He wanted to immediately buy acting skills, but he did not have enough FP for it.

He is preparing ahead of time for a situation that may or may not arise. That's how careful Will is about his life as a director. After all, directing was his dream.

Tomorrow, his new life will truly begin.
