Chapter 7

Receiving a positive response from Will, June asked after shaking her hand.

"Are you an actor?"

Will shook his head, and after a pause, he said.

"Well, you could say I'm a screenwriter and aspiring director."

He shows the script in his hand and June's eyes widen.

"Oh, so?"

June replied, a little skeptical. It's not his fault, in the eyes of actors, screenwriters are the originators of whatever characters they play.

So the respect and admiration an actor has for a screenwriter is above the general audience, and most all screenwriters are in their 30s.

And that was why June could not take the words of the 21-22-year-old man for granted. If he said he was an actor, he would believe without a doubt like that.

Seeing his expression, Will chuckled inwardly.

"Yes, what about you? I'm sure someone with your face is a famous actress."

June smiles at Will's blatant flattery, but remains humble.

"Oh, I'm a fine actress, but I'm not that famous yet."

Will, who had ransacked his memories and already knew that he was not so famous, raised his eyebrows.

It was interesting how he spoke his sentence, as if he was trying to say he was not yet famous, it would not be the same in the future.

"Want to have coffee? I'm a little thirsty and need something to soak my throat. We can also have a light conversation if you want. You really look like someone who has a story."

"Ah, okay."

June hesitated. Even though he was the one who called out to her, he was here in hopes of meeting Benjamin.

Seeing how June looked towards Benjamin's office, Will felt sympathy for her.

"Oh, it's okay if you're not free. Maybe next time. By the way, if you want to meet Uncle Charles, I can arrange a meeting for you."

Will proposes even though he is not a generous person at all, he does not back down to help people in similar situations as him.

It's up to June whether he can impress Benjamin or not. Will just makes another contact, because Hollywood is working with contacts.

It would be great if June could really impress Benjamin and get a role in some movies. He at least remained grateful and Will could use this to ask for help in the future.

June, who saw Benjamin's assistant close his office door, sighed inwardly.

"No meeting today either."

Then he looked towards the man who was talking to him. Although he was skeptical, he could not deny the fact that he had just walked out of Benjamin's office.

Benjamin wouldn't allow just any youngster into his office, so the man in front of him must have talent.

Besides, he was curious about his identity.

Since there was no hope of meeting Benjamin today either, he decided to go and have a coffee to refresh his mood.

"About the coffee, let's go. My food."

In this industry, connection is more important than wealth. And to be released with a screenwriter or director is almost like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most actors and actresses.

This is why after some hesitation, June accepts Will's invitation and even agrees to turn it into his gift because Will is a screenwriter, and someday it might become a very important connection for her.

Will somewhat understood his thoughts. There was a particular reason why he had invited her for a coffee break, and since the other party had even agreed to pay for it, he already had a better impression of her.

A few minutes later, the two sat face to face in the building's cafeteria.

After the two ordered coffee, Will did not beat around the bush and asked him.

"So, June, if you don't mind, my guess is are you here to meet Uncle Charles?"

June was silent for a moment and then nodded.

“Yes, I'd like to meet Agent Charles, but unfortunately he's too busy. Ah, by the way, are you her relatives? ”

Will slightly nodded his head.

“Not a relative, but you could say he's a family friend. My father and he have the same alma mater, so he treats me like a nephew.”

"Oh? That's good,"

June smiled.

"Are you also here for work-related matters?"

Will nodded.

June's smile wavered slightly as she remained silent for a moment and then spoke.

"Well, not at the moment. You won't know, but I've been acting in movies even before I was fifteen, and over the years, I've acted in a few movies, so I have a lot of experience."

"But the thing is, there's no role big enough, and in the eyes of the audience, I'm still a child actress, even though I'm already in my twenties."

Just then, a waiter approached their table and presented two cups of cappuccino to them.

As soon as he left, Will asked.

“What is so sad, in your opinion what is the reason behind this cessation of your career?”

June had a thoughtful expression on her face as she took a sip of coffee and after a long silence, she finally spoke.

“I think the error is on me. I remember the years when I worked as a child actress, I was overconfident, which even made me. um. And because of this, I unknowingly have created a lot of difficulties for myself. Especially by being inconsiderate to the friends I made along the way. ”

After a moment of silence, June shook her head while laughing awkwardly.

“What I said, we just met and I've been raving nonsense. Maybe all the stress has gotten to my head-"

Will interrupted her and spoke with a smile on his face.

“It's okay, sometimes, you have to let go. And believe me, I would be lying if I said that I did not expect an answer similar to this. In fact, your words are what I want to hear. ”

"...Whatchu mean?"

June confused.

Will adjusted his mind and said.

“Well, I'll explain everything to you, but first, I have something to offer. Are you interested in auditioning for one of my future projects?”

“Hn...” June thought for a moment, then replied, “I want to know more about it.”

Although Will seems like a good man, there are many people in the industry with such an attitude.

He was already a bit skeptical about her being a screenwriter. He can't just agree to act in the movie of an aspiring director.

Most of the time, a new director will try to be a little extreme and release a movie that garners a lot of attention, as well as criticism.

They will make women who are struggling in the industry act naked or something similar to make movies a trend.

He did not want to directly agree, only to find out later that he had to do something unspeakable like a nude scene.

He had already offended a director by retracting his words, and he would not repeat the mistake.

Will explained it to her.

“Yes, the project I was thinking about was the horror and thriller genre. It will have three main leads, one female and two male. The female lead role is what I offer you. ”

"But why me?"

“Because your history resonates a lot with this female character,”

Will replied after thinking for a moment,

“During the project, the female lead will undergo a transformation, and from the initially selfish and overconfident girl, she will be humble and face despair towards the end of the story.”

June asked

"Oh, will there be an explicit scene?"

Many directors use explicit scenes to spice up horror movies.

Will understood his thoughts and shook his head.

“No, don't worry about that. We don't need anyone to do any explicit scenes”

June answered.

"Then I will think about it. I'll tell you when I make my decision."

"Yes, it's okay for me. Take some time and maybe we can have another coffee and talk about the details."

June laughed at hearing that. If anything, Will is a charming guy.

Although the director or new project failed 8/10 times, June felt that working with Will would change her life, in a good way.

However, he did not agree to it directly. After some talk, June paid the bill.

Will says goodbye and walks home, inwardly pleased with himself.

If everything went as he predicted, he would not only manage to sell the script [17 Again] but also get one of the leads for his first film.
