In the meantime, everything went well for Will. His battle with the MCA has turned into the latter's downfall and now the DTA is benefiting from it.
The best thing is that he got Uncle Ben to join the DTA because of this and he has even persuaded June to join his agency with his agent, John.
A trip to New York has led him to find Leo and now, he will be able to make some iconic films that would not have existed before without Leo as the lead.
But just because everything went well for him, doesn't mean Will became lazy.
The main reason everything went well was because he was working with the big guys of Hollywood. Other than [The Blair Witch Project], all of his projects had been done with the Big 6 studio and this had saved him from a lot of trouble.
And he wanted to continue this at least for a while.
There's no way Will doesn't know that the big guys of Hollywood are watching him because of his rapid growth, but until he continues to benefit them, he'll be safe.
He needed to play it that way until he was strong enough to trample the Big 6.
Thinking of this thought, he parked his car outside the Black Diamond hotel, where Kron's studio was holding a Success party [A Bullet to Kill].
Getting out of his car, he goes inside with the paparazzi taking photos of himself from a distance while whispering to each other.
"This is Will Evans! I didn't know he was coming here."
"Hear rumors that she's in New York for some work? Guess he's back."
"Hahaha, I'll get 500 bucks for just one picture."
He ignored the muttering of paparazzi and walked in. The sound of music reached his ears as he looked around to see everyone gathered here.
"There's an alcohol smell in the air."
He thought, thinking about the nature of Hollywood parties.
The director, actor, producer, and even some pop stars were before him.
It was a well-known collection, featuring connections to Kron's studio. He could even see some executives from rival studios.
Notoriously, Hollywood parties are all about meeting new people and getting into relationships. But many people will also come here to find someone to go home with, especially young actors who just want to enjoy life and parties.
In the end, these actors will be on the front pages of some paparazzi magazines the next day.
He came early and even the star player [A Bullet to Kill] was not here. From what he knows, Robert is having dinner with his childhood friend and is coming in late.
Seeing Will, many actors and producers wondered if they should go and talk to him. She is a rare person in Hollywood and is known as a workaholic who rarely comes to such events.
It was a great opportunity to make connections. If an actor gets his number, it will be a golden opportunity to star in a big budget movie and if a producer works with him, it means a lot of profit.
At least, until now, his record was as good as it got.
But these people are waiting. They have been in Hollywood too long to know that having patience is important. New actors, especially young actresses who have just played in some movies approach him first.
"Hello, do you want to go buy a drink?"
A red-haired girl wearing a low-cut dress asked him with a smile. But he shook his head and quickly rejected it.
"Sorry, maybe later."
He left after saying that, not even looking at her well. With a sad shoulder, the girl returned to her group of friends, frowning at the lost opportunity.
Not thinking of such things, Will walked towards the table where several people from Foxstar were sitting.
He could see a middle-aged man sitting in the middle.
She has blond hair, a square face and she is a bit like Spencer. At least one side of his face was so.
Compared to the old grandfathers around him, he was rather young but there was a confident, almost arrogant grin on his face.
It was Colt Miller.
"Hey, Will. I didn't expect you to actually come here."
Of the Foxstar executive group, the first to notice him was James Dankworth. He also told Will that Colt would be here.
"I was just a little free, so I decided to show my face."
"You free? It's rarely like seeing a UFO."
Regardless of his age, he is seen as a long-term partner to Foxstar and Spencer has put a lot of emphasis on these points in meetings.
"Will Evans, I'm a huge fan. This is the first time we've met. My father told me a lot about you. You can call me Colt."
Colt was the last person to walk up to him and he patted Will on the shoulder as if they were old friends who had just reunited.
"It's nice to meet you too. I hope most of what Spencer said will be okay."
"Indeed. It's kind of weird because it's Hollywood, but it's really hard to find anything bad about you."
Colt said with a grin, then looked back for a moment before heading towards the balcony.
"Let's talk somewhere private."
"Oh, sure."
Will doesn't mind because he's at a party to meet Colt. But he could see the strange faces of Foxstar executives. They certainly don't like this.
"He has a lot to learn."
They walked to the balcony and when he got there, Colt took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and offered.
"You want one?"
"I don't smoke."
"Dearly enough. I like to smoke."
Whipping his smoke, Colt leaned against the balcony. Will did not wait for him to speak and asked directly.
"How's Spencer doing? Last time I saw him, he was in a hospital bed."
"He's still there. Just a little better. The doctors advised him to retire. He's past work age."
"So, you took over."
Colt looked back and grinned before replying.
"I was in the middle of it. The company does not work on the will of one man and many oppositions."
"It's always there."
"You're lucky in that. You are the sole owner of your company. It's your investment and you make big decisions and they make big profits. It's pretty comfortable. It's almost like you're the king of your own kingdom."
"You can say that."
will said, wondering in his mind about what kind of person Colt was. Obviously, there was an atmosphere of arrogance around him and he was naive, not used to fighting for top positions in a company.
But he looks competent too. It was almost like he was ready for this role his entire life. If Will resembles a king, Colt is more like a prince.
The question is what kind of prince is he? The stupid or the sneaky?
"I don't like to go around talking about things that don't matter. So, let's talk about why you came to this party to see me. It's about Sherlock Holmes, isn't it?"
Colt turned to look at her and Will shook his head slightly.
"Not completely. Just part of the reason. It's more to see what kind of person Foxstar's next chairman is."
For now, Dream Vision has only worked with Foxstar on successful projects. With the [500 Day of Summer], they formed a partnership with the OP studio but the end result can still be seen.
That's why Will appreciates Foxstar and doesn't want to end up like MCA.
"Well I don't know if I'll impress you or not, but for now, I can only talk about a few things." He said, taking a breath and then suddenly said, "I read the deal between Foxstar and Dream Vision for the next two movies. Looks like you won't direct them."
Will shook his head, He doesn't want to direct the next part because there are so many things he wants to do. There are a lot of other movies waiting for him.
"I don't feel like directing it. I've tasted success with it, so it's no use. Though, I will work on the script, so the point will be there."
Hearing that, Colt threw his cigarette on the ground and smashed it with his shoes. Staring at him, he said.
"I'd rather you direct it than anyone else. You know very well what happens to the Blair Witch franchise after you sell the rights."
