The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 54

The next day, the council meeting continued.

When the council members show up in the room, Will can see that they have all read the script of [Sherlock Holmes], and if his plan succeeds in impressing them, he can see that they have all read the script of [Sherlock Holmes], they will agree even if they have some wrong gifts in their hearts.

So, without wasting any time, Will began to explain the plan he had in mind for [Sherlock Holmes].

That would basically be a big gamble because there has never been a case in history when a director directed 90 million films out of 500 thousand.

That alone is enough to get people interested.

And that's Will's plan, too. He wanted to get people interested enough to watch a movie. Even if they thought it wouldn't be good or would fail, he was pretty sure that it would impress them once they saw the movie.

The board members also agreed with that since they had all seen the script. But there are still some points that need to be discussed.

"I know the script is amazing. As a fan of Sherlock Holmes novels, I knew this would work out as a novel, but the movie was completely different. We need an outstanding and established actor."

mark said, and Will smiled at him. He finally began to accept the fact that even a Sherlock Holmes film could succeed.

"Most of the budget I said would be used to sign A-list actors. I'm well aware that, unlike my previous films, I can't recruit newcomers to it."

Although Will said that, he had no idea what people would think if he told them that the actor who played Sherlock was basically unknown.

With a wry smile, he opened his mouth.

"If the first film succeeds, we can make sequels and prequels because of the amount of material we have. So, the actor who plays the role will be great."

"Does that mean we're going to buy Sherlock Holmes's rights?"

anthony asked, and Amanda answered, not Will.

"Yes, we plan to buy the rights from studio Z. They have the right to sit there in the dust without any use, so I'm sure we'll get it for a bargain."

"Yes, they'll even thank us."

Will peel off too.

The answer satisfied everyone, and they couldn't help but be excited. After all, they would be producing a big film now rather than a small film they had done until now.

They feel like they are suddenly in a completely different league.

"Your plan isn't bad. We can use Sherlock Holmes fans and start a social media campaign. In addition, people are easily drawn to the classic cinematic version."

jeffery said as he looked at Will. He has worked as a cinematographer for great directors before but never for a 90 million film.

At that moment, Mark asked a question that made everyone skeptical again.

"We will need a big distributor as well. We can't just go for the little ones. The film must be released in North America and abroad simultaneously, and a large distributor will make people come to the cinema. Do you have anyone? in mind?"

The question made everyone look up to Will. He had only worked with Wheel's studio until now, and there were rumors that their relationship had ended.

Although he gave them great success, no company likes to earn less than one individual, and after gaining the rights of the Blair magician, they do not use Will.

But when everyone expected a bad answer, Will said something that surprised everyone.

"Actually, I've got an offer from Foxstar."

***

The board meeting ended soon, this time with a better atmosphere afterwards.

Everyone agreed to the plan, and the entire studio would immediately start working on the [Sherlock Holmes] movie.

Although there were some who were still in doubt, it was still a natural reaction. And to be honest, Will didn't even need to discuss their opinions in the first place; however, he did anyway.

This is because he made a 90 Million dollar film, and it is a universe that previous films have degenerated at the box office in a sad way.

This was a huge leap from his first film, and although he could have told them to do it and they would have to agree with him at all costs, there would still be discontent among his employees.

What Will is doing here is thinking about a long-term plan. With the help of the system, he would definitely make a lot of interesting movies and shows, but that also meant he would have less time to handle the core of the company, he said, and that's why he needs people who are trustworthy and confident at the helm of the company.

Another thing is that Will still needs to prove himself to everyone in the group; after all, a camcorder movie is nothing compared to a complete cinematic movie.

He was convinced that once Sherlock Holmes was successful, he would not have to argue with these people, and they would also gain the trust of him.

For now, the company will be preparing for preproduction.

The first assignment on this list, of course, earned the film rights from Z Studios.

Amanda's been working on it, so Will doesn't have to worry about it too much.

"5 million." While parting ways with Amanda, Will says, "That's the final price for the right. But I don't think they're going to ask for that much; don't let them know the total budget."

"I think they might have figured it out" Amanda replied.

"How's it?" Will frowned.

Amanda smiled at him, "Will, you're new to Hollywood. Think of this incident as your first lesson - in this industry, news spreads very quickly. People make connections, and they like to follow their connections. Sharing such information is how you get help from others."

"Oh?" Will narrowed his eyes and added, "Well, if they know about his budget, then tell them we'll drop another million if they tell us how they know about this."

Amanda frowned, "Are you sure about that?"

Will shrugged, "We're not running a circus, Amanda. I can listen to all the objections and arguments against this film, but I won't put up with the complainant or the traitor. Whatever we discuss in the boardroom should remain in the boardroom. "

Amanda nodded with a slight frown, "I'll see this thing."

Will nodded, "See you tomorrow. Good luck!"

Amanda nodded and left.

-tring~ ttring~!

"Hello?" Will pick up the phone.

-Hi, Will! It's me, Edward. Can you come to MCA now?

It was Edward Friedman, the [17 Again] film director whose script was given to the MCA by Will, and that was how he began his journey in the industry.

"Now?" Will asked, "Is this about the script?"

come on, I have something to ask, and I think it would be best if I told you directly.

Will thought for a moment and replied, "Alright, I'll be there soon."

Cool, I'll be here for at least the next two hours; if you can be quick, that'll be good.

Will nodded, "I'll be there at ten."

Deciding on the call, Will goes to his car and heads to the MCA's main office.

It was not too far from his own company, but the difference between the two was quite striking.

'One day I will build something bigger than this.'

Will took a deep breath as he walked towards the entrance of the MCA Building.

"Hi, I'm here to see Mr. Friedman,"

Will said to the receptionist at the table as he entered the building.

The young lady on the other hand smiled and said in a respectful tone, "Do you have an appointment?"

"Yes," Will nodded, "He just called me a few minutes ago. I'm Will. Will Evans."

"Ah, Mr. Will, the Director did tell you about your arrival. Please head to the fifth floor." He said, "The director is waiting for you."

"Thank you" Will smiled and headed for the elevator.

….

-Ting~!

The elevator doors slowly opened, and Will stepped on the fifth floor of the building.

"Hey, Will!" As he looked around, he heard the voice of someone calling out to him.

Turning around, he saw Edward waving his hand at him through the half-open conference room, "Come in!"

Will nodded and walked in.

"Come, sit down," Edward pointed at Will.

As Will sat in front of him, Edward added, "Will, I've called you here to talk about something important."

In the heart will frown. 'What's going on?'

With Edward's way of acting, the situation seemed quite serious.

'Don't tell me they ruled out [17 Again]?'

It would be very disappointing because he wanted to take part in it.

"Is it something related to the script?" will ask.

This was his second and most likely guess. He may have given auditions, but he doesn't think the MCA will lack actors who will give the screenwriter a role in the film.

"It's not about the script," Edward dispels Will's doubts, "It's about the role you audition."

"Oh? What's up?" Will asked, "Did you decide to give that role to someone else?."

Edward shook his head, "No, that's not the case. Your audition went pretty well, but the aura around you doesn't match Alex's character."

"What do you mean?" Will was a little surprised.

"Um, how should I say it ..." Edward thought for a moment and then added, "Well, Alex is a fool, but the atmosphere around him is much different. That's why I don't think you'd be a good choice to play as Alex."

"Oh..." Will cleared his throat, "Ahem, so.. You call me all the time just to tell me that I didn't get the role...?"

"Ah, no," Edward shook his head, "You know, even though Alex is not the perfect role for you, there are other options. And coincidentally, the actor who was supposed to play the role was arrested on charges of drunk driving and is currently behind bars. We don't know when he will be released, and opportunities don't wait for anything in the industry. He's gone, and now has come knocking on your door."

"You offered me his place...?" Will understood what the person in front of him was trying to say.

"Yes." Yeah."

"But I didn't even audition for another role .. don't tell me it's a side character who just needs to stand in a corner?"

"No, no, no, I could hire a random small-time actor for that; why would I call you here for that moment?"

"Oh?" Will put on an expression thinking, "Now I wonder which character I'm going to play."

"The character that makes you perfect is Stan" Edward replied with a smile.

"....Stan?" Will freezes for a moment, "The stud and the school bully...?"

"Yes!"

"..."
