The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 53

It was hard for anyone to say anything when Will insisted on the idea. Most of them consider it an immature stubbornness that comes from his success and experience in the industry.

Mark is one of the people who still rejects the idea of making a big Sherlock Holmes movie.

Franchising has potential, but it is very difficult for anyone to make something out of it.

At least for a young director.

That was Mark's opinion, and cleared his throat, he asked.

"How much do you think will be earned on a budget of 90 million? Box office numbers must reach at least 200-300 million to be a big hit."

"It wouldn't be around that sign."

"If you are not sure you will reach that number, it is better to give–"

"You won't let me finish my sentence."

Mark snorted and tried to get Will to reject this idea, but his words were cut in the middle. He looked at Will, who was smiling.

"500 million dollars. That is the mark that will be achieved!"

Some of the board members had strange expressions when they heard those words. Even Jeffery looked at Will like a madman.

But some of them also had thoughtful expressions. After all, Will had managed to make 200 million dollars on a budget of less than 500 thousand dollars.

Moreover, his confidence was something that made people want to believe him.

'Maybe, maybe, he has a good plan. At least they can listen to his proposal.'

That was the thought in their minds, and at that moment, Amanda cleared her throat and spoke.

"How about we at least see the script?"

"Is the script ready?"

Jeffrey asked, not knowing this. He knew that Will was working on something, but he didn't know that he had finished it so quickly.

"I've read it. It's amazing."

Amanda said, her words caused some muttering.

"Even if the script is good, you realize that the idea is really surprising. I've never heard of such gambling in my entire life."

An old man who was the head of the production department spoke. His name is Anthony Zabka.

"I know that. But I don't think there's any reason why we at least didn't try to listen to the whole proposal. Will is not someone who will talk about something without thinking about it carefully."

His words made one thing clear. He was on Will's side, and it gave a clear message to the board members.

If even the CEO is on his side, then there is not much they can do to get started. Mark was still not satisfied and looked at Amanda.

"It looks like you've already passed it."

"Yes, and that's pretty good. At least I think it has potential, and I think we should at least understand every point before saying anything."

Mark frowned but still nodded his head. There is nothing wrong with listening to everything.

"Okay, so let's see the script first."

Everyone nodded, and at that moment, Will spoke.

"I've sent the script to everyone's office. Don't share it with anyone, and let's go back tomorrow to finish it."

He knew that it would take a little time to convince everyone, but he would continue to do so, no matter what.

It's just that he has to be patient.

'I'm going to make this film a huge success.'

He thought in his mind as he glanced at the council members. Many of them did not believe him enough.

But it's only a matter of time.

***

Hollywood is the place where they will pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul.

And Will knows this. She smiled as she stared at her reflection in the vanity mirror, which was bounded by a bright light bulb.

She is currently on a photo shoot for one of the industry's top magazines, Hollywood Pride.

Hollywood Pride is a monthly magazine of the latest popular culture, fashion, and industry affairs, ranging from gossip and rumors to the latest announcements.

Will is the industry's hot topic at the moment, and Amanda has convinced him to accept a photo shoot invitation in the magazine's corporate editorial building.

With the success of the [Blair Witch Project] film, many people were interested in getting to know her further, and Amanda wanted Will to be serious about this because he would be the face of Dream Vision Studios.

The photo shoot he attended now was for the magazine cover page, and once this was done, he would go for an interview that would be published in the magazine with its cover page.

Right now, he goes with a very simple look - slippery hair, a white shirt with unbuttoned top buttons and a black tie.

One thing to note about his shirt is that it's not even ironed, and the tie is a little out of place.

This is not due to negligence; rather, it is under the instruction of the shooting director. That guy wants Will to give you that kind of crazy vibe of work, someone who is new to the industry and understands the burden on his shoulders and takes his work very seriously while also being confident about everything he does.

She also has black trousers, but the photo required for the cover page is only the upper part of her body.

"Mr Evans, we're ready."

Will nodded at her with a faint smile and walked out.

Outside, the shooting staff has set up a white screen, which will be the background.

"Will, come here," the director, John, gestured to her as soon as the first one came out of the dressing room.

And as Will stands on a white background, facing the camera and the big lights, John tells him about the poses he has in mind.

"I want you to relax your shoulders, Will." He said, "Just calm down. Pull up your sleeves, and put your hands in your pockets. Youunderstand?"

"Yes." Yeah."

"All right, let's do it." John then concentrated on the camera while saying, "Look at the lens! On the count of three..1..2..3!"

- Hakak!

"Perfect!" John smiled, "Your face is quite photogenic, Will."

"Is that a compliment?" Will smiles.

John chuckles, "From the director of the shoot? Yeah, of course."

The shooting continued for another twenty minutes, and Will even changed his clothes into a tuxedo.

Satisfied with the shoot, John shook Will's hand as the show ended, "Will, that's good. I look forward to seeing you more for a photo shoot in the near future."

Will smiled, "I'm happy. And yes, I hope the same."

John chuckled at this, and glanced at the staff; he told them to pack up.

By the time Will returned to the dressing room to change clothes, a staff member was already waiting for him there.

"Sir, I'll take you to an interview for the magazine in the next room after you change clothes."

Will nodded, and the staff member left.

Five minutes later, Will exits the room, returning in his own casual outfit.

The staff member, who was waiting for Will outside the room, gestured for him to follow and take him to the next room.

In the next room, a young reporter was waiting for him. She has worked at the magazine for several years, and her name is Amelia Kathy.

As she watched Will enter the room, she shook hands with him and introduced herself.

"I'm Amelia Kathy. I'll do your interview today."

"Will Evans."

He said and sat down. When he wanted to finish the interview, they quickly started.

"So, what's it like to be a multimillionaire? Your story is an inspiration to many young filmmakers because it's basically a rich story."

He asked, asking one of the most basic questions, but it was inevitable that people would be interested in knowing his views.

"It feels amazing, of course. Everyone likes to have money, but I don't think my lifestyle has changed much. Besides a better house, everything is still the same."

"Have you always believed that your movie would make so much?"

"I knew it would work. A filmmaker doesn't make a film he doesn't think will work. In fact, I was also surprised when it came to producing so much."

Amelia smiled at him and asked a few more questions. They are quite simple, like how it feels to be famous and why he sold the franchise rights to Blair Witch.

He easily answered them, and after a while, he asked a question that put him in a difficult place.

"There were rumors that many students from EUC and other film colleges dropped out of school to become real directors. Do you think it's because of you?"

Will took a while to answer this question. If he answered hastily, there would be headlines like 'Young directors say that film school is pointless.

The media is always good at changing words by creating controversy.

This question stems from the fact that Hollywood is seeing a frenzy for camcorder movies. They are cheap to make and perfect for young filmmakers.

But it was not like he was pushing something like that. He knew very well that the madness would cease to exist after a few years.

"I don't think the reason is me. I mean, it's not like I told them to come out. I'd personally have stayed at EUC if it wasn't for my circumstances."

"So, that's not an option?"

"That's a must. I had no money to pay the fees, and I chose to sell the scripts for a living. At that moment, the idea for the Blair Witch came to my mind. Fortunately, it worked for me, but I don't know if it'll work with anyone else either."

She nodded her head at that moment and asked about other things like her life at EUC and her relationship. Or if his classmates try to contact him after he is famous.

In the end, he asked about something he did not expect.

"There are reports that Edward Friedman's next film was written by you? Are you going to make a career out of screenwriting?"

"Yes, I am indeed the screenwriter of the next film, and in the future, I might write a script for someone else, but directing a movie is something I won't leave behind."

Amelia curled her lips and asked.

"So, are we going to see your new movie this year?"

"If everything goes well, then yes!"
