The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 43

June, Zach, Marcus, and Will are backstage, waiting to go inside. The show was just about to begin, and a tense atmosphere enveloped their leisurely space.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, sitting on the sofa on stage in front of the camera and lights, wearing a blue sweater, is Brooks himself. And sitting in front of him was a packed audience; at least 400 people had come to see his performance.

It was a full house like every other show.

After double-checking everything, the cameraman gestured, and the talk show began.

Brooks Tuffin turned his face towards the camera, smiled, and said, “Welcome to the Night Talks with Tuffin. Today, there are so many topics to discuss. The stock market has some interesting news, and like every day, American politics has become the best comedy show in the world, but we are not talking about it today. Today we have a guest here. Perhaps not many people have heard of him, but people in the film industry have called him a miracle, and his films have been scooping up incredible numbers in recent weeks, and it's still strong."

After introducing the topic for the day, he gestured excitedly and looked towards the stage entrance, "Let's welcome Will Evans, director of [The Blair Witch Project]."

Typically, Night Talks with Tuffin revolve around a variety of topics around the world and will be presented hilariously. But sometimes, there will be guest interviews and today is just that.

As Will entered the stage from backstage, with a smile, applause rumbled in the audience. Most of the audience is young people who have seen the film.

They clapped their hands excitedly and cheered up his name as soon as they saw him. Will smiled and waved his hand towards the audience as he walked towards the sofa in the middle of the stage.

Then, he sat down, shook Brooks' hand, and said cheerfully,

"Hi, Brooks, nice to meet you."

"It's good to have you, Will," Brooks said with a welcoming laugh, and continued, "First of all, I want to congratulate you on the unprecedented success of the horror film, [The Blair Witch Project], which has shaken the box office, and the hearts of all viewers.”

"I mean, I was scared when I saw that movie."

“You've watched it?” Will was a little surprised.

Brooks chuckles, “Of course I watched it. All my friends talk about it; I will not be left in the chat. Now, if the topic of the movie came up, I was like, 'Yes, I've watched it.

Will smiled, "Do you like it?"

"Like that? I don't know, but one thing is for sure, the trip home was the scariest experience of my life.”

Will smiled as the audience laughed at Brooks' acting.

Brooks then focused on the other actors and had a small chat with each of them, and about three minutes after the introduction, he returned to Will and asked.

“Well, Will, before our show starts, we give a piece of paper, and a pen to the audience, and they write the things they want me to ask of you. Of all the questions, the staff at the back chose the most interesting or the worst.”

"Should I ask you the first question?"

"Sure," Will leaned slightly forward, showing his interest.

Brooks took the flash card from the table and, glancing at it for a moment, he looked at Will, and asked with a serious expression, "How did you do it?"

“Hm?”

"How do you film that movie," asked Brooks, "I'm sure the whole world wants to know how you managed to make a movie with just fifty thousand dollars and make over two hundred times the investment, he said, and it's still going on . I think it won't take long to get past the hundred and fifty million mark. ”

Will thought for a moment and replied, “Well, the technique we used is called the Found Footage technique. In the found footage, the horror is inevitable and unknowable. They lurk from view, then surge forward, flooding the audience and their lenses. And the visuals add more horror than sound effects; this gives a much more lasting impression in the minds of the audience.”

Brooks nodded, “Well, the way he shot was very interesting. You yourself have raised the bar for all directors who direct or will direct horror films in the future.”

Will just smiled, “I'm flattered, but there's still a lot to learn from this.”

"Well, I just wish you had a big success up front," Brooks smiled and then, taking out the next flashcard, he asked, "What was the biggest challenge you faced while making this movie?"

Will replied, “Edit. We had more than ten days of footage at the time we were recording the final take. The step is to edit and edit and edit everything, and after weeks of editing, we only have eighty minutes of recording, and the rest is history.”

"What about the shoot?"

Will thought for a moment, then glanced at Zach with a smile, "Finding Zach while he was lost in the forest is always dizzy."

Brooks laughed and went towards Zach and then kept asking other actors about their various questions and experiences while filming the Blair Witch Project.

When the show ended, Brooks inevitably turned to Will and asked, “Before we get to the end of this interview, I want to ask you one more thing, Will. This is actually more of a secret deal between us than a question.”

"I listened to everything" Will smiled.

Brooks cleared his throat before asking, “Ahem, so, well, I have a few thousand of my savings. Are you planning to film another type of camcorder?”

He did not forget to add a little wink at the end, whispering, "If you know what I mean."

Will shook his head, "The way we filmed this film is unique, and the kind of film that could be used to make this film is also very limited."

"Oh? What about the sequel to this movie? Considering its success, I would say the sequel would be worth it. ” asked Brook.

Will shook his head, “I don't agree with this. The entire film is heavily based on a sense of mystery and curiosity. The more we show, the more it will lose its effect. So yes, I will not be directing this type of film anytime soon.”

"Oh?" Brooks put on a thoughtful expression as he asked, “From your tone, I feel you have big plans for the future.”

Will smiled, "I wish I could have directed some really good films."

“So ladies and gentlemen, with the cast of Blair Witch Project, this is Will Evans - the youngest director to break into a 100 million dollar movie club! And I'm sure this isn't the last time you hear his name!”

As he clapped his hands, the audience followed, with the background of the instrumental group also following.

….

-tring! Tring!

The sound of an incoming call woke Will up. She was currently in bed in her apartment, lying down with her face face down.

He moved his hand and looked for his phone at the small table beside the bed without raising his head.

-bam!

The alarm clock was knocked by his hand and fell to the floor.

Will doesn't care because he has found his phone. Taking her closer to her face, she slightly moved her head enough to see from just one eye and then stared at the phone screen.

[Incoming call]

[George - CEO of Wheel Works Studios]

Will smiled as he looked at the name on the screen.

'Finally!'

He immediately sat up straight and raised the call.

"Hello."

-Hi, Will, am I bothering you?

George's voice, in a cheerful tone, entered Will's ears.

Will smiled, “No, I actually fell asleep while waiting for your phone. Is it done?"

yes, your part is currently being transferred to you.

Will smiled, “Finally. I have been waiting for this for over seven weeks now, haha. ”

honestly, me too! Hahaha, how not? It had been seven weeks since the film's release, and had grossed over 157 Million Dollars at the box office, leaving all of its competitors eating up dust.

- With all the deductions from the cinema, my company, and the entertainment tax, the share that goes into your pocket is between 40 to 41% of the total box office, and that's about 65.5 Million Dollars!

"Wow!" Will took a deep breath after hearing this.

65 Million Dollars!

'Shoppers!'

A few months ago, Will had only dreamed of earning this much money.

'And the film still has the potential to produce more ....'

Just thinking about this made Will feel happy. Money played an important role in his plan, and now, his biggest problem would be solved as soon as money was received in his bank account.

"How long do you plan to run this movie?" will ask.

- uh, about that, actually, we plan to remove it from the movie theater. This week, the film grossed just 10 Million, which is about 23 Million less than the previous week's box office. And given the huge cut the cinema took, it was not worth it.

"Oh? Then, will we release the DVD and ott formats?” will ask.

yep. This is a good time to sell tv. Also, we will be releasing this film in the international market as well, and I am thinking of releasing it in three-four different film languages.

"Oh? Then translation and more, it will take.”

- Don't worry about that, my company will handle it. However, we have to form a new contract for the international release of this film.

Will narrowed his eyes for a moment, but then he just shook his head.

"When should I visit your office?"

well, there's no need to rush for that. You should enjoy the fruits of your hard work! Congratulations on being Hollywood's youngest millionaire, if not the world, hahaha!

Will smiled as the phone disconnected.

Just as he was about to put down the phone, he received a text message notification:
