With Jeffrey beside her and Emilia leading the way, they reached the basement where Emilia's office was located.
The office is a mess, to say the least. The papers were scattered everywhere, and many books were open on the table. There was even a pizza box with a piece on it lying on the floor.
"I'm sorry, I haven't cleaned it up in a long time."
Emilia said, embarrassed by the state of her office. He would clean it up once every week, but he had no time lately to edit [The Blair Witch Project].
"It's okay."
Will shook his head with a smile and looked around the messy room. Emilia quickly sat in front of the computer with Will and Jeffery moving behind her.
"I've finished the first ten minutes of that movie."
He said and browsed through some files before playing the clip. It's called 'Blair pt 1'. Glanced at Will's face, which was full of hope.
"Don't worry; I've tried to follow the input you gave Jeffery. Although it's really a hard job to edit when you have so much footage."
"We just shot everything we could."
"I know that. I was shocked when I even found footage of three leaders sleeping in a tent, and three hours of that footage was just that."
Will smiled embarrassedly hearing it, and Emilia finally played the clip.
The clip begins as normally as Will would have liked with the interaction between his three friends, showing a bit of their personality, and then they talk about the Legend.
Will notices that many of the scenes he thinks will be pretty good are gone, but that doesn't affect the speed of the film. In fact, it makes it better in a certain way.
He could clearly see that Emilia was completely experienced in her work, and when the 10-minute clip ended, she was satisfied.
"How's that?" He asked, turning his head.
"That's great." He smiled in response. "Actually, better than I expected."
"Good to hear. Editing [The Blair Witch Project] made me feel like I was back in my college days where my roommate and I used to record videos, and I would edit them."
Unlike movie theaters, [The Blair Witch Project] is more of a home video that anyone can easily edit. The only reason he went through the professional profession was because he felt the quality of his films would be better like this.
He and Emilia discussed more about the film. Will tells her about some specific scenes he wants to keep up, no matter what, and she just smiles hearing them.
Since he has worked with many directors, he knows that almost all of them have special scenes that they want to keep in the film no matter what.
Will is the same, and that's actually a good thing because it means Will has the soul of a true director.
* * *
After he finished talking to Emilia, Will returned to the living room with Jeffrey. He's not here just to meet his film editor.
Jeffrey has some important things to talk to Will about.
"As I said before, Emilia is the best editor I know, and you don't have to worry about her quality. Now, we have more important things to talk about. You said that you have some ideas on how to get a distributor. ?"
The important thing was to find a distributor for [The Blair Witch Project]. Without good distributors, they are powerless.
Like the previous world, film studios and companies are at the top of Hollywood, and budding directors like Will have to fight hard even to get an appointment with one of the studio's creative heads.
"I spoke to Uncle Charles about it yesterday, and he told me that he had arranged a meeting with Foxstar's distribution chief on Sunday" Will said, and Jeffery's eyes widened.
For the record, Foxstar is one of the top studios in Hollywood, and almost all top directors and actors have worked on Foxstar studio films.
"That's a great starting point." Jeffery nodded his head but immediately changed his expression. "Foxstar isn't investing too much in horror movies. You know that they've been trying hard to create a child-friendly image for a long time."
"I know, but this is a good opportunity. Unlike our movies that have sexual or gore scenes. Most likely it will get a PG rating of 13."
"You're right. I have worked with Foxstar in the past. They are really arrogant and want everything to go their way, and they are often accused of taking all the creative responsibilities from the director."
Jeffery said, his voice alert. The last time he worked with Foxstar, it was a terrible experience.
He had been working on a modern fantasy film, and he felt it would be a success. But Foxstar has taken a lot of scenes because they don't like it.
In the end, the film failed.
"I understand your concerns, Jeffery. But think what if they agree to distribute this, and our film will reach more people and will be marketed everywhere."
It's not that Will doesn't understand where his friend is coming from. But this is a great opportunity.
In Will's previous world, this was equivalent to getting his films distributed by a company called Disney.
"I know that the odds of [The Blair Witch Project] being rejected are high, but there are still what-if scenarios that could happen. Maybe it'll impress the guys at Foxstar."
Unlike Will relies on 'What if'. He still had some ideas and methods to persuade other distribution companies if these companies did not accept him.
But as Benjamin had already said that he had arranged a meeting between them, it was impolite not to even consider them, no matter whether they accepted or rejected the film.
