The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 182

June sat down next to Will. The two stared at each other, saying nothing but just looking. An awkward silence occurred between them.

The staring contest lasted for a few more seconds.

"Are you okay?" Will questions being unable to withstand the silence.

June did not mutter anything, but shook her head. His lips began to tremble, and his eyes glazed over. Everything he had endured for too long, suddenly came up with a single question from Will.

“I thought I'd lose you, Will.” She said between her sobs.

Will couldn't bear to see how he started crying. She was strong, firm, and a woman that no man could beat even if they wanted to. This was the first time he had seen her this weak.

"I'm sorry" Will whispered, and June leaned against his chest, keeping her head right in front of his heart.

Although her sobs slowed down, she continuously shed tears.

"You're so sloppy." After a few seconds of crying, he muttered. “Why did you even go to a party when you knew something was going to happen? You shouldn't have left, Will. What if something happens to you? I still can't believe how you went to the party feeling worried and scared.

“And it was my fault too! I know something's wrong, but I let you think it's most likely work-related. ”

June begins to mutter her feelings, but Will only holds her head. The words stuck in his throat and he just listened to it.

“Everyone said that most likely you will not make it out alive, I was so scared,” whine June in the last part.

“I'm sorry, June. I know I shouldn't have gone to that party, but I think Uncle Ben's life is in danger. I didn't know Matthew was aiming at me. ” Will said while holding his face in his hand.

Will wants to calm the situation. He knew it must have been hard for him. The worry he saw in his eyes before he left the house, explained many things. She had walked away from home worriedly and then, she learned that she was stabbed.

It must be too heavy for him.

"W-what am I going to do without you?" She cried. “Even the media and everyone I met said how your chances of recovering are diminishing every day.” Her tears did not stop.

Ever since he was in a coma, he had to sleep alone worrying what if he never came back. Although he did not admit it in public, somewhere deep down he was extremely strong.

"Sorry for worrying you, I don't want to die either" Will whispered back.

She kept ruffling her hair with her hands. He was crying in his chest. The scene looked straight out of the movie and they stayed that way for a while. In the end, Will's mind turned to what June had just said. 'What if he's really dead'?

Thinking that, he said nothing but hugged her tightly.

It was an old house, on the north side of America. A home for the elderly is basically a place where people are left to care for when they are old.

It was a refuge for them where they could spend the last year of their lives.

In the main hall of the mansion, there were two old men, talking to each other.

“I still remember what kind of movies we had when I was younger. Now, nothing good. Looks like I still can't find anything that feels good enough.” One of the old men with a bald head said to his friend with an emotionless face.

The two of them met in a nursing home a year ago, and since then they have never run out of topics to talk about. From how people today tend to live lives that seem very different to how there is no good show for them to enjoy; they discuss everything.

“I remember how stars became a phenomenon back then.” Said his friend with a smile. His wrinkled face looked pleasant whenever he recalled something old that he enjoyed.

“Ahaha... I remember one time I went to watch [Mark], the movie with the furry dog, right after its launch day. The main character who starred in him, I still remember how everyone used to love him. Girls are crazy about him and movies alone make a lot of people buy dogs. The impact is huge.” The bald old man said with a smile shaking his head in memory.

They sat in front of the television for quite a while now wanting to watch something. But every time they start watching something, they can't help but pick something wrong with the show. It has become a habit now. They will start watching something on television but end up talking about the past.

“Yes, I totally agree. We used to go to the movies and talk about it for months, basically until something new came out so we could start talking about it, but now. They don't make anything for us to enjoy.” The other old man said unhappily and shook his head.

“Yes, not even worth talking about, what are these young people looking for? I mean, these films are becoming unrealistic and not innovative with every new creation. How can anyone relate to this nonsense and enjoy it?”

“Maybe they just want to earn money now.” Another grandmother across the hall said, who eavesdropped on the entire conversation from afar.

It was then that a young lady suddenly opened the door and entered. He had black hair and a sweet smile on his face.

“Halo, Maria,”

The bald old man said, looking at him. He was one of the volunteers at the nursing home and they knew each other well.

He was a student but whenever he had time, he would come to the nursing home to help. It was one of the activities he enjoyed very much.

"Still struggling with the show." He answers.

"Psychic Mariah," said the old man and chuckled. “How's your mom doing, son?”

“He is fine. Never been better,"

Mariah has been doing volunteer services for a few months now, and she is becoming closer to almost everyone. Since they are mature and friendly, it is easier for him to get to know them personally and build good relationships. In fact, he often tended to realize how valuable the things they murmured were.

“If you want a good series, I watched it last week. You might like it.” He said and started cleaning the items around the hall. He continued walking from the corner of the room to clean it up, but continued to talk to the old man.

“I've been through a lot of shows and there's nothing good there. I don't think you can recommend anything great either. ” Other grandfathers say and laugh.

Mariah shook her head thinking about how wrong they were.

“Trust me on this, I never suggest anything, but this. This is very nice. The name of the show was [Friends] and it was very funny. Most importantly, no spoilers but the whole series can be linked, I can bet my life on that, you try it. ” She said with a sweet smile.

“Well, if Mariah says, I think we should try. I mean, what's the loss?” The bald old man said and smiled. He was bored and as he said, he would not lose anything because he had a lot of time.

“Alright, let me get the channel, sit back and enjoy, gentlemen. It should start airing around this time. ” Mariah said and turn on the TV before switching to RBO. "It's gonna start in five minutes." He said while smiling at the old one and hoping they would like [Friends].

***

Mariah tries to explain about the character and the plot, but is said to tell nothing by the old man and they will find out for themselves over time.

The episode started immediately and they had already enjoyed it even when it had not even been five minutes.

“I remember how we lived together like this many years ago,” said the bald old man while laughing considering how he and his friends lived in the same apartment during the 90s.

She was going through her second divorce back then and in order to save money, she started living with her roommate.

As the episode progresses, the two old men begin to enjoy it even more. The joke was funny to them and the atmosphere of the show was very warm, showing the life of each friend.

Somehow it made them remember their own lives.

"Hey, you all. What are you guys watching?"

Soon, another old man also came to the hall to play a board game and inevitably saw two old men who always talked badly about movies. It was shocking to them that they were watching something with a smile on their face.

"This is a series called [Friends]. Come watch with us." Said the bald old man and the others joining him.

For the next 25 minutes, they all enjoyed the episode and laughed at the joke. For some reason, it makes them remember the beautiful past and forget the worries they have.

Seeing them like that, Mariah could only smile. Thinking of something, he photographed how they all kept watching the show and uploaded it on Sparrow.

The title he typed in was, 'Watching [Friends] with Friends'.
