Santa Monica is a seaside town in California, and is about 15 miles from Los Angeles. Will had already rented the building after talking to the owner and got all six floors of the building at a rate of $2.25 per square foot per month after negotiations.
Will rented the entire building for a year, and the total amount reached $9 million, including maintenance costs. Will has inspected other real estate and found that the cost is very low as nothing drops below $31 per square foot per year. For Will, the cost was only $27 per square foot per year, which was a pretty big deal.
When Amanda handled the rental process, they were currently moving Dream Vision Studios to this new building.
Will has assigned Jeffrey to buy new and high-end equipment because the equipment at the existing Dream Vision Studios is minimal.
Amanda became preoccupied with hiring new staff due to staff shortages after taking out nearly 15 people, and they need more staff than ever before as they look to expand the company now.
Because all this was happening and everyone was busy doing their part, Will was busy writing the first Harry Potter book. Since he had the entire series in his inventory, he had decided to write each book slowly and publish one book with a half-year gap and then another one after half a year.
But it took time to write it all down because Will changed a lot of things in the book. By many, he means MUCH. He had basically changed the 'Harry Potter' protagonist of the book. Although he was the same character, the situation changed a lot from the actual book.
He still has a mysterious past of the Potter family, but he is not a naive 10-year-old who bullies all his life and is still pure and naive. He has turned into a sly yet caring character, who gives off a different feel altogether.
Will has even changed Hogwarts himself. The whole of Hogwarts turned into something like a modern academy structured and ruled by witchcraft. Although most of the story's plot remains the same, most of the character's settings have been changed or at least slightly altered.
Some would say that he changed the core of that legendary masterpiece, but that masterpiece never existed in this world, either, so it's a fictional Will fan who will come out as the real Harry Potter in this world. Not to mention it wasn't the 2000s but the 2010s; the reader base was different.
The plan was to keep releasing books every half a year, and when his popularity reached its peak, he would start production of the first film, hopefully much better than the original due to the time gap and technological advancements.
Will decides to give Ron a deeper character and make sure that his character or dialogue will not be stolen by Hermione, as in the original where the character is pretty good in the book, but they changed it in a movie where all the Dialogue was played by Hermione, making her look like a fool.
Dumbledore's character is revised again, and Will is at a loss as to what to make of it. Dumbledore appears as an excellent character for an old man but not good enough to decide where he will sacrifice everyone just for Harry. In the end, Will decides to leave Dumbledore as he is and decides to leave clues in the story that Dumbledore is not as simple as he imagined.
As Will finishes the first draft of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, he rereads it to find fault.
"What are you doing so early in the morning?"
Will felt something slippery rub against his back as two soft hands hugged him from behind. The owner of the voice is June, who wakes up and sees Will busy with his laptop.
Will smiles as he turns around slightly and kisses June lightly on his lips, after which June sighs and curls up into his arms. She was wearing a lacy white nightgown and looked very pretty in Will's eyes.
"What do you think?"
Will asks with a grin, which makes June raise an eyebrow because she rarely sees Will being arrogant about something.
"Are you writing another script for some movie?"
June asked curiously.
"Near, but Well. I'm writing a children's book."
Will replied, which made June make a surprised expression.
"Are you kidding? There must be a catch."
June asked after seeing the arrogance still not gone from her face.
"Well, it's not a children's book, I guess? It's suitable for all age groups, but yes, it mostly targets young teens, and after all it's a teen fantasy."
Will's answer again surprised June. He was puzzled as to why Will was a writer when his popularity had already reached new heights just because of his directing.
"Why are you writing children's books? You know that writing a novel and writing a script are two very different things, right?"
"I know that. I've had an idea for this book for a while now, and don't worry, writing a children's book will have a positive impact on my reputation as long as it's good."
"You sound pretty sure that your book will be 'good', right?"
June said teasingly, and Will simply closed the laptop and threw it onto the bed as Will clamped his hand with his hand and looked into his eyes deeply.
June felt a tremor running down her spine, looking into Will's dark black eyes as she said.
"No, that's something I think is sexy."
He bit his lips seductively after saying that as if inviting him to come and eat it.
Will let go of his hand, stood up and cleared his throat.
"Well, last night's session was enough. We both have a piece of work to do and have busy days ahead of us."
June just pouted hearing it, and Will laughed. After a while, he printed 2-3 draft books and gave one for June.
"Read it and tell me how it is. I'll shower until then."
After that, Will took a shower. After refreshing himself, he came out with a towel tied around his waist.
"So how?"
Will asked while blowing his hair with a hair dryer.
"I've read the first chapter, and the beginning is at least interesting. Once again, I have found my other layer of onions. How much more are you hiding in your brain?"
Will just chuckles at June's scowling comments and starts dressing up.
"By the way, do you have a publisher in mind for this?"
June asked as she also prepared to take a shower.
"I won't be hard on my current reputation. I'll ask Amanda for help to introduce me to some publishers. And even if it doesn't work out with them, there's always the option to self-publish."
"No, no, don't do self-publishing. It would cost a lot if you did that, which would be a waste of money."
Will shook his head as he answered.
"I wouldn't waste money if I ended up getting more money from books."
June only stared at him for a while, thinking from where she gained her confidence, after which she simply smiled bitterly and kissed his cheek before entering the bathroom.
Will knows where he comes from, but he also knows what Harry Potter is in his world. Even if some call it luck to JK Rowlings, it's still a good book.
To be honest, it is one of the best-planned book series. J. K. Rowling had the whole story planned before she sat down to write the series. For example, in the first novel, there was a scene where Snape would ask Harry a few questions during his class.
Years later, many people learned that his question had a hidden record in it.
It was quite a shock to Will when he learned of this, but this was just one thing that made the film so good.
Since this world did not have many masterpieces in the literary and industrial fields of Hollywood, he was confident that his books and films would earn almost the same income as the original world, he was convinced, unless there's a factor he forgot to take into account.
What's more, if the plan is successful, he's confident that he'll have another series that will surpass 1 billion dollars at the box office. Just thinking about so much money was enough to make him feel that his efforts were not in vain.
At times, he feels like he is greedy, but the reality is that human society is shaped around money, and the only way to reach the top is to have money.
'I need to write the script and go through the audition tapes for the DTA as well.'
Jeffery has posted a notice that they are recruiting actors and actresses from all age groups, and over 1500 resumes have come in a span of 2-3 days through online portals.
Thinking of his dense schedule, he sighed. But at this point, he was already workaholic.
