The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 12

Aside from the crew, an important part of a film is the actors. A good actor can make or break a movie.

That's why some people will even watch a bad movie if the lead actor is amazing. Sometimes, only actors will save a bad movie.

That's how important actors are, and even though it's just a horror movie to be recorded with an old camcorder, Will won't get just any actors.

Many people think someone just needs to scream in a horror movie, but it is much more than that. You need to be as real as possible in showing fear and despair.

In the original, [Project witch Blair], the three lead characters had just used their own names. On the one hand, they play a fictionalized version of themselves.

They have all done a good job but using their real names deterred them later in their careers. For the female lead, Heather Donahue, she couldn't even find a job because of the marketing strategy [the Blair witch project].

Will changes it and makes the character completely fictional because the three original actors do not exist in this world.

As for finding actors, it wasn't a difficult job for Will.

He had enough money to hire a good actor, but he wanted to hire a relatively unknown face with good acting qualities.

It fits the theme of the original film, and Will wants to continue with it.

In this world, like the original Hollywood, there is a union of actors and directors that protects the rights of the artists. And right now, Will is on his way to one of them.

'Screen Actor Guild.'

It was a guild that came into sight in 1933, and since then, it has had over 70,000 members, becoming the largest guild in Hollywood.

There are other guilds in Los Angeles, but this one is the biggest one.

For a director to get an actor, they will usually go through the agency, and then the agency will look for the best actor for them.

But this is only possible if you are an established director.

In America, too many movies are made every year, and not all of them are from established directors. There were quite a number of them by independent directors as well.

Will is one of those directors.

He needed to post an offer in the guild and would need a guild agent to lead the audition. An agency is required to oversee each audition. If not, it's not legal.

"How many actors will you choose?"

June asked, walking beside her with a smile on her face.

"plate 7-8. I'm just looking for an important role right now. We can ask the locals to act during filming."

Initially, the same thing had happened, and it was a great way to save money.

"You're so cheap." June chuckled, smiling at him.

"Hey, don't forget I'll give you payment if you'll lead."

He joked, and like this, the two reached the guild. Entering it, Will saw many people moving.

Some of them looked at June for her beauty but then shrugged and continued on their way.

Looking around the interior, he came to the table.

"Hello, do you want to register with the guild? We protect your rights, and you just need to pay–"

"No, no, I'm here to make a request. Maybe I'll sign up in the future. But not today."

He cut the enthusiastic receptionist and said.

"ASK?"

The receptionist nodded her head after she said that and then handed out the form to her, she ordered her to fill it carefully.

Will sits next to June, and she helps him with the form. He just needs to fill in the basic things like the basic plot of the film or how it will be taken. In the end, she needed to write down the amount for each role.

"15rb for the leader and 10rb for the others. You're rich."

June commented while submitting the form to the receptionist.

"I want to be richer."

"How much do you think you'll get from that movie?"

Will thought for a moment before a grin appeared on his face. Turn around to see June, he said.

"200 million dollars."

June laughed out loud hearing him, thinking he was joking. Even the top director films don't make much.

Last month, Blake River's new film made 100 million dollars at the box office, and that's only possible because the studio spent 20 million dollars just on marketing.

After a while, the receptionist handed him the basic contract he had to sign.

He did that, and he told her about how the audition would take place.

"Audition will take place at the Cuba Cafe tomorrow, and an agent will be sent there to take the lead. Good luck!"

"Thank you."

After the signing process was completed, Will left the screen actor guild with June.

On the way, he was curious about something and asked June.

"Do you have a boyfriend?"

June looked at him then smiled playfully as she said.

"Why are you asking? Is Director Evans looking for a girlfriend? Does he like me?"

Will waved his hand as if to chase away the cat as he said with both his hands folded behind his head as he walked.

"No, I'm just asking that you can break up with her before you get rich. Otherwise, he'll leech you later."

June raised her next to her eyebrows. Sometimes he could not understand what was on the mind of this man, who was almost the same age as him.

He can be so random that you will doubt every word he says.

"Why do you think I'm going to be rich?"

"If you pass the audition, doesn't that mean you'll get rich?"

Will said without further ado. He spoke like the movie was already a hit. He could not understand where his confidence came from, but deep down, he wanted nothing but his proper self-confidence.

After all, if the film really did make much, the director would be obliged to pay a certain amount of bonuses to the entire crew, including the actors.

It's not mandatory, but it's necessary to keep your crew happy after a successful movie. Or the director will have a bad reputation in the industry, which will affect his career in the long run.

Will is definitely not the kind of person who is stingy with the people he works with.

As such thoughts covered June's mind, inevitably she dreamed of a brighter future.

Once again, he looked at the young director. He looked very handsome today for some unknown reason.
