The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 17

After the casting was finished, there was only one more problem Will had, and that was finding the crew for [The Blair Witch Project].

Finding a crew is very difficult for someone like Will who has almost no connections.

If [17 more] were released now, then Will would have some connections as a screenwriter.

As a talented screenwriter, he will be able to find the crew easily, but [17 more] is only in pre-production, and it will take a long time before it is released.

Will desperately needs a crew, and for that, there's only one connection he can think of, and that's his uncle.

That's why, after contacting Zach and Marcus, Will said goodbye in June.

John had already left early since the audition was over, and he wanted to go home from the beginning.

After going to his rented apartment, Will pulls out his cell phone and calls Benjamin.

- Ha ha! Hello, Will. How are you doing?

A lively voice came from the other side. It was rare these days to see Benjamin in such a mood.

"I'm doing fine. How are you, Uncle?"

Will asked in a voice that matched Benjamin's enthusiasm.

I'm fine, everything's going well. You sound happy too. Is the audition going well?

benjamin asked, feeling the happiness from Will's voice.

"Yes, it went well. I found all three clues to my story, and they were all great actors."

To Benjamin, a great actor was just the one at the top, but still, he laughed out loud and said.

- That's good. Preparations for [17 Again] are also going well. Edward accepted the manuscript as soon as he read it. He even praises you for blending very well with the trends and instantly making such a plot.

"It's good that you're doing so well."

Will doesn't talk much and lets Benjamin talk because he's so excited. He'll get his turn sooner or later.

After a while, when Benjamin finished talking about [17 More] and was told how it would be better for Will to be present during the casting so that he could make some connections while seeing his script come to life.

oh, yeah, Will. What about the crew? Have you gathered a crew? Or at least have an idea of what you are looking for?

After the talk was over, Benjamin asked the question Will had been waiting for.

"Actually, Uncle, I called you because of this as well."

When he started talking about how he hasn't found the crew, Will said. He mentioned his terms and how he didn't need a large crew.

– If it is like that, maybe I can help you. I know someone, I'll give you his contact, and you can talk to him. It's just a little personality….

benjamin said, and Will agreed. He doesn't care about their personalities as long as they can do the job right.

Benjamin gave him the contact number and address of the person. After some small talk, they hung up the phone.

The next day, Will goes to the small studio where Benjamin tells him to go. This is where the cinematographer he recommends works.

Jeffery Houlston's.

He was a cinematographer for several films that MCA had invested in, but his career had been dead for a long time.

Last year, she even chose to work in some porn movies for a living.

The reason Benjamin told him to be careful with his personality was also the reason for Jeffery's downfall in the industry.

His stubborn personality.

He has turned down a lot of movies for reasons like not liking the director, the script is bad, or just because he feels the movie is not going to work.

There was a high chance that Jeffrey would reject [The Blair Witch Project] as well, but Will had to take this chance.

After all, a cinematographer is the most important person for a director. He was a builder of buildings that Will designed, so it was very important to have a good cinematographer in any movie.

As Will entered the small studio, he could see posters of several films on the wall, and there were even photos of almost naked girls on the wall.

As Will looks at the poster, someone comes out from inside and stands near a glass table containing various movie CDs.

"Oh hello, I'm looking for Jeffrey Houlston. Where can I meet him?"

Will asked politely to the little framed man.

"I'm right in front of you. What brings you here, son?"

Will was surprised to hear a rude voice coming out from such a person. Jeffery was shorter than him, but he had a strong voice, and he looked like someone who would be distracted at every little thing.

He thought Jeffrey Houlston would be a towering man with a manly stature from the description he got.

She immediately hid her shock behind her polite smile as she introduced herself.

"I'm Will Evans. Benjamin Charles will tell you about me?"

"Ah, yes. Talented screenwriters who make independent films and need a crew." Jefri nodded his head. "Lake in."

He walked in with Jeffrey, and they were both sitting at the table. Will was just about to tell him about the movie when he opened his mouth.

"First of all, I'll tell you that if the script doesn't satisfy me, I'll reject the offer no matter how much money you give me. And I also need to make sure that we can work well together and you know how to handle directing the film."

Will nods his head, confident that he will be able to satisfy Jeffrey. He took out the script from his bag and gave it to her.

"This is a short script. Did you make a short film?"

"No, I just want most of the scenes to be improvised. That's why the script is small. My horror movies are trying to be as realistic as possible, and I want my actors to act the same."

Jeffery was satisfied with his explanation, and he slowly began to read the script.
