The My Hollywood System

The My Hollywood System
Chapter 32

After the call with June, Will is again motivated. He already knew that the industry would treat this film as gambling no matter how good it was.

He went to two more distribution companies that day but was still rejected.

After that, his days of struggle began as he began going to every film distribution company, regardless of their position in the industry.

He even realized that James could be considered very polite at some point because some companies did not even bother to listen to his tone.

Some people who listen will not bother watching the movie because they consider it a failure once they hear it recorded on a camcorder.

*results*

Will sighed after exiting the 'Rear Creations' office'. Rear Creations is considered a mid-sized company in the industry for a variety of reasons. However, their arrogance while rejecting Will is way above top distribution companies like Foxstar Studios.

Will slowly grew tired of rejection. It is not that no one recognizes the value of the film, but people who recognize it are hesitant to invest in a film that is more like a home recording.

Destiny Productions is also one of the top distribution companies, they are interested in the film, but they say that they already have a lot of projects. They even asked Will to sell all the rights to the film for 1 million dollars, which is not the least considering how little he invested in it.

Will refused the offer.

It had been about a week since his visit to Foxstar studio and among other things, June and Jeffrey had called him many times and motivated him not to feel sad about this.

*Trnng**Trnng*

His phone rang while he was thinking, sitting on a bench in a public park.

He looked at his phone and saw Jeffrey's name on the screen, making him smile thinly.

By now, Jeffrey and Will had established a fairly good friendship, and Jeffrey often called him to give him motivation and ideas about where he should try his luck.

"Hello Jeff, how are you?"

I'm fine, Will. How are you doing? Still any luck?

From Jeffrey's tone of voice, it was obvious he wasn't expecting good news from Will, at least first.

"Yet. Don't worry; I'll ask someone to distribute this movie sooner or later.”

Will said, his tired voice completely rejecting his fake enthusiastic tone.

– I've called you about that too, actually…..

***

After Jeffrey calls, Will has another handle to hold. And he stood in front of that hay.

'Wheel Work Studio'

It was the name of a studio that could not be called famous or unknown in the industry. There were times when they did relatively well, unleashing one horror punch after another.

Since Wheel Works Studios was a medium-sized distribution company, the studio's distribution head was an acquaintance of Jeffrey.

After seeing Will fight for days, Jeffrey couldn't just sit around. So he contacted the studio's head of distribution to make an appointment with Will.

They were horror production houses, to begin with; if things went well, maybe Will could distribute his films from them.

A rotten apple is still better than a healthy potato.

Even if they don't do well now, they can distribute and advertise the film to the perfect audience if they take Will's film. After all, they have a good foundation in the horror genre.

Carl Sallow, the head of distribution, personally came out to greet Will and brought him inside while chatting very kindly.

He looked like a friendly neighbor uncle, who most people would accost but would not get too close to him.

She gives off a friendly impression with blonde hair and light brown eyes. Somehow Will finds out how Jeffrey, who is not good at communicating with most people, gets acquainted with Carl.

“Haha, Jeffrey told me a lot about you. A talented young man who is skilled in directing and writing scripts. You have knowledge of the 'Found Recording Technique', which can now be called ancient by the youths of this generation. Ah, I remember the days when I was just twenty years old and got engaged in my first movie, 'Janitor of the Asylum'.”

Will, who heard that, was inwardly shocked but did not show it on his face. After recalling for some time, he remembered that Wheel Works Studios had released the last 'Found Footage' film on this alternate earth.

Carl talks as if Will should know it, and actually he should know it because he has made a movie with the techniques that their studio used years ago. But Will has forgotten that.

After a while, they went to the projection room, where they would watch a movie. Unexpectedly, there was also the CEO of Wheel Works Studio; he was an old man who looked to be in his mid-60s, almost bald.

It was George Carter. He came on a normal visit to the office when he found out what was going on and decided to come along.

As the film begins and enters an exciting phase, Carl inevitably makes a comment.

“Perfect first person use. The actors are too good.”

George did not comment on anything, but from his eyes, one could see the appreciation within.

As the film ends with a glimpse of Blair Witch's shadow, Carl can be found panting; George takes out an inhaler and starts pumping it.

"...too good."

After he calmed down, Carl would not comment. He had never seen a film so exciting, its direction and execution were so perfect that people would be absorbed directly into the film from the very beginning.

'Janitor of the Asylum' is a movie that earns enough but cannot be considered a hit. When comparing [The Blair Witch Project] to that, it was very clear that there was no comparison.

After some quiet discussion between Carl and George, Carl finally approached Will, his hands outstretched to shake hands.

"Will, we'll help you distribute the film at the right time for the maximum audience."

Although she held back, a charming smile formed on Will's face, the grueling day of distributor hunting was finally over, and he was sure the future would be much easier.
